I hear so many people saying "Ew, it's using gnome-libs I don't wanna install that" I have said this many times. It's seemed like a lot of usage on my hard drive with all those packages... In reality, 50 megs for GNOME libs or 80 megs for KDE isn't a lot at all.. Heck, UT2004 is around 90 times bigger than installing base KDE and GNOME libs. Thanks to modern technology, most PCs have 80 - 120 gigs on them.. Even with this 30 gig hard drive, 150 megs does not even put a dent. Unless your using a floppy for your hard drive, it won't hurt to install gnome and kde libaries. You need a gig and a half for just winblows stuff! Just because it says:

It seems like a lot of depedencies, being on four lines and all... But it's really not that much. I won't hurt to have it on your PC.

I havn't tried kde since 3.2.0 and it was totally unusuable due to bugs, crashes, bloat and so forth,
the kde devs must been busy since then...
I was even quite impressed with KDE 3.3.x. I use KDM for my default DM all the time.. GDM is too buggy.. WDM/XDM too ugly... I actually made KDM look pretty sexy.. People say you can't, but it's not that hard... I'll make some screenies if anyone want some

I have 3 Apple devices - iMac, iPhone, and iPad. I am planning to move to iCloud from MobileMe. In iTunes, I just choose to sync whatever files I want my iPhone and iPad to have since they don't have sufficient disk space as my iMac.
Can I just choose which apps or photos to sync via iCloud since I don't want all of them in my iPhone and iPad? I have all photos & apps in my iMac but only sync manually some of them to my iPad and to my iPhone. Can I still do this with iCloud?
Calendars, emails, contacts, are fine since files are small. What I'm afraid of are the apps and photos.

Thanks.With the exception of photo stream, iCloud doesn't sync your apps or photos between devices. You will continue to sync this content via iTunes in the same way as you do now.
Photo stream allows you to sync your most recent photos between all devices, you have the option to use photostream or not. -
Are there ways to only upload certain photos from my iphoto backup? It is really big and I don't want all the photos on my new computer.
There is a way to find and recover individual photos from a Time Machine backup.
1 - dowload and launch Find Any File.
2 - select the Time Machine hard drive in FAF's Find Items menu.
3 - enter the full file name of the photo you want to recover into FAF and use the Find button.
NOTE: it will take a while for FAF to retrieve and display the results of the search due to the nature of how TM makes its backups. 30 seconds or so is normal.
4 - select the file in the Masters folder and use the Space bar to verify it's the one you want with Quickview.
5 - drag the file from the FAF window to your Desktop.
6 - repeat for each photo you need to restore.

My ipod screen is cracked and i can't sync my ipod to itunes because it is locked with a password and i can't enter the password because the heat sensor is messed up on the ipod becasue of the screen and i don't want to restore it and lose everything. What can i do?!
All you can do is to restore and thus erase the iPod unless you can get a data recovery company to preserve the data.
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I want all document updates and comment notifications on by default
I got it working and sending mail to exchange. But now I want to be able to control default notification settings. For example: Our company has a phone list in MS-Excel. When it is updated I was everyone to recieve a notification that it is updated. I don't want them to have any choice in the matter.

There is no way to do this. What I would do is put your Settings app on a page itself, so its out of your way. Just ignore your notifactions. I hope this helps!

Of course, but that's not a situation I will deal with as I don't use a laptop. Also, you can make just those previews that you will need for a presentation. I don't (for my purposes, yours may differ) see a need to keep 20 or 30 thousand preview files on my hardrive. It certainly faster and more economical to kick out the 4 or 500 previews you may need for a presentation than maintaining a whole image library worth.
Also, though it would eventually finish, as the preview's were being generated it bogged down my machine and made Aperture function like it did in version 1.1.2, sticky sliders, beachballs etc. heck even with the previews this version was still much better than the last. W/O the prev. generation, my iMac G5 is like a brand new fast computer. The speed and functionally gain is night and day. Now maybe when it finished making the thousands of previews it was generating the speed-up would occur, I suspect it would. But all those previews, to me, are just a waste of resources. -
Is there a way to search for movie rentals only? I don't want to buy movies and I'm tired of clicking on a movie only to find out its for purchase only?
The best solution I've come across so far is to dump all movies into a shareware app called iVI. It'll show whether each movie has subtitles or not.

Once it finishes, you can go back into iTunes and unselect sync music, resync the phone and it will remove the music. You can then select certain tracks or playlists if you want. So I want all my music and playlists to sync on all my devices. I'm not sure if I do not have the correct options checked or what. I have an iPhone 5, a PC, a laptop and a tablet and I would like to make it so that if I make changes on one device it affects everything. I have an active iTunes match subscription but I'm not sure if that's the issue. So like if I buy a song new song on my iPhone and I add it to an existing playlist or create a new one, I want it to be the same way or update on all my devices and vice versa. Like I currently have a playlist that I created on my phone and I would like it to sync to all my computers but it will not for some reason. Also, when I plug my phone into my computer (whether it be my PC or laptop) that I have purchases and what not that are not present on said device and would I like to transfer...but then it can only be synced to one library? I just want all my libraries to become one and sync together. Can anyone help me with this? I consider myself to be incredibly technologically challenged. Thanks in advance for your time!

If you have iTunes match enabled, you should be to change playlists on your iPhone and also turn on automatic downloads on all devices

Manual sync is not available when match is turned on and in any event the sync is one way - PC to iOS devices.

Somehow I received a free movie which I didn't want. It started to download automatically when I opened iTunes. I don't want it to download and can't stop it. I have other cds that I would like to download but this movie is in the way. Help

No, the camera connection kit only supports the copying of photos and videos to the Photos app, it doesn't support copying content off the iPad. For your second camera instead of the SD reader part of the kit, does the iPad to camera cable not work with it for direct transfer to the iPad ?
For Lightroom and Nikon software again no - you can only install apps that are available in the iTunes app store on your computer and the App Store app on the iPad, 'normal' PC and Mac (OS X) software are not compatible with the iPad (iOS). There are some apps that perform fairly basic editing functions that are available in the store, but nothing as sophisticated as, for example, Lightroom.
