Are you aware that support for Garmin Express running on Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8 is about to cease?
The minimum OS going forward (at the present time) is OS X 10.7.x

My external hard drive goes in to constant access mode and really slows down my computer
I'm using an external hard drive for time machine. After working for an hour or so the drive goes into a constant access mode and realy slows down my IMac. I look at activity monitor and everything looks good, no high CPU usage or memory issues. The only fix is to use the power button to shut down my IMac. After restart it works fine for a while.
If I turn off time machine the problem seems to not happen. I tried disk utility on the external hard drive and it says the dirve is fine. I change out external drives and the problem still occures. Any thoughts?I didn't realize my profile stated otherwise.

Apple does not officially support Time Machine backups to a drive at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme....likely because it is not reliable. You might want to review this Apple Support document to confirm:

So, we are not going to be able to provide you with much assistance on that issue.
Some users seem to be able to make this work....some have some problems....and some (like me) who have tried this have nothing but problems.
Sorry, I can't help on this one, but maybe another user who has had better luck will post to provide his secrets.
The iTunes and iPhoto libraries and files are my only copies now. I moved everything from my Macbook to the external then deleted the originals.
Not sure if you have thought about this.
If you deleted the "originals", then your only copy of your data is on one hard drive. You have no backups if the drive has a problem.
A minimum backup plan would be to have a copy of important data on two different drives. When....not if...one drive fails, you have the data on the "other" drive.
You have no "other" drive according to the information that you have provided.
Further.....Time Machine backs up the changes on your Mac. At some point....you cannot know when.....Time Machine will pick up the change on your Mac and delete the iTunes and iPhoto data from your Time Machine backups.
The files might stay there a few months, or even longer. But, I have seen instances where the files were deleted within a week or two.
So my advice would be to only delete data from your Mac that you can afford to lose. -

If you do have a large email archive it may just take time to download all messages. It will take even longer if you do have a slow Internet connection.
When messages are downloaded Thunderbird also indexes them for full text search, which may cause some additional CPU load.
You can disable both, downloading messages for offline use, as well as message indexing.
How do you determine this is a 'constant loop'? -

Any ideas how to get my software updated on my IPOD 3rd Generation when my computer times out? I have tried several times and it appears to take 30 plus hours. How Frustrating, not to mention the kids are too!
If the iTunes purchases are not in your iTunes library you can redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you restore from backup, not that synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup and thus if those items are not in the iTunes library they can't be restored to the iPod during the latter part of the restore process. -

Is your carrier still AT&T? What error message do you get when you try to activate it?
Have you tried a new SIM? Was the phone jailbroken? Was the computer you used to update it ever used to jailbreak a phone? In general, this problem is caused by one of the following:
1. Your antivirus is blocking access to gs.apple.com.
2. Your phone is jailbroken.
3. Your computer has been used at some time in the past to jaibreak some iOS device (not necessarily the phone with the problem), and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used.
4. Apple's activation servers are down (very rare, and never for more than an hour or so).
For 1. try disabling your antivirus.
For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer. -
Took phone update and now can't turn down volume all the way?
I took the latest phone system software update, and now when I turn down the volume (using the volume button on the side) the lowest it will go is vibrate instead of silent. This is annoying, because I sometimes like to turn it all the way down in meetings or when I sleep at night, but it vibrates on incoming calls or corporate e-mail notifications.
Why did you guys do away with the fully-minimized volume choice?
The Motorola Droid (Droid 1, I suppose), under the original software load, allowed you to turn down volume (in some number of steps), down to Vibrate, and then finally all the way Off. The only sound it would make would be if you set an alarm clock.
With the new load, turning it down only goes to vibrate, and not silent.
The "Silent Mode" available when pressing the power button should be more appropriately named "Vibrate Mode." It appears that there is no longer a true "silent" mode under the Droid O/S.
I looked at a number of marketplace apps, but they all seem to be based on a timer setting, i.e. set a time frame that you don't want any sounds.
Why did Verizon (or is it Google?) have to break something that didn't need fixing?It's a known issue and has been discussed numerous times. If you need quick access, you can get beautiful silent from the market for free which will allow you have a widget on your homescreen for silent mode.

I plug in my iPod to charge from my computer and it syncs with my iTunes, but I've been getting a message that a list of 13 of my apps cannot be loaded onto my iPod because it doesn't have the latest software to support them. I have done all the software updates for my iPod and iTunes says it is completed up-to-date. Do I need to delete the apps and redownload them or what?
Any help is appreciated! Thanks.ok well like lllaass said, most apps require 4.3 or later iOS software. chances are since the apps worked before, the apps themselves got updated and will no longer work with your software version.

At first my laptop was fine after the earphone end got stuck in. Soon it started getting slower, and suddenly it stopped switching on. The people in the service station said that it wAs because the hard disk drive was corrupted. I came back home, and immediately it stopped working again. This time they said it was because of water spill. They changed the entire key board and then it started working for a while. Later I updated to maverick and that slowed down my computer. Once, I switched on my laptop, logged in, and then the screen went white. When we took it to the service center they said they will need to replace the hard disk. I am not sure what I should do. Any suggestions?

Until your iPod Touch is using iOS 5 or higher there is no way to upgrade without using iTunes on your syncing computer.

After updating ios6 I can't access my downloaded iTunesU videos anymore. They come up in search but video app says 'no videos'. I have the new iPad and the latest version of iTunesU. How can I get the video app working with the iTunesU again?
I have a similar problem with ITunesU, I used to be able to access them from my car dock, but now they dont appear and the fwd/back buttons on the steering wheel wont affect them.
It seems taking them from ITunes into their own app has confused many other applications or dock connectors. Im going to try and remove the ITunesU app as I dont want to have lost the extra functionality -
My iPad does not have the automatic software update and I do not know how to get IOS 6 onto it. When I go into settings there is no software update button.
If you are really on iOS 5 then look in Settings > General > Software update.
Otherwise:
If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).

Updated to IOS6 and now my apps will not update on the Ipad2. I have to delete them and then re-install. But I have several hundred apps and this is cumbersome. Seems the new software is too buggy. I am telling people not to update software yet.
Basic troubleshooting from the Users Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Hi my name is Timothy and I have had my iPod Touch 4th Generation 32 GB for about 8 months and when I got it, it was fast but now i updated it to 6.1.6 and it goes really slow i have only used 6.8 GB of space on it and there is 21.7 GB left on it.
Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
