I am running winodows vista with firefox 17.0.1 and I downloaded adobe flash player 11.4 r402. Whenever flash is used on a page or I use realplayer my cpu starts to overheat. this player is constantly using too much of my cpu and I have to end process the player. is there a fix for this or an update? I have tried to downgrade my flash player but the older versions cannot play youtube and realplayer vids.

That folder with the question mark icon means that the MacBook can't find the boot directory. That can either mean it can't find the hard drive or the Operating System data on the hard drive is somehow corrupted.
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. Sorry, Swanarva, It didn't work as it was supposed to. I downloaded, saved file, clicked the download to open, clicked 'run' then got an error message that it couldn't find the file(!) . No idea what happened or why. Should I have uninstalled Firefox first, then downloaded Firefox 8 using another browser or downloaded, uninstalled Firefox 09 beta then tried installing Firefox 8?
At this rate, IE is looking good, despite its shortcomings.

You have the flash plug-in and should update it. No ideal what the message is about storage, do you mean install. Copying the exact message would help, especially in the world of PCs where message numbers are hardly ever used.

up until yesterday,every time i would download anything,i would get a "popup" at the bottom right side of my screen saying "download complete"...now i don't see that..also,when i click on my downloads option in my "tools" at the top right,the box that appears has changed in how it looks..it still shows my downloads,but the appearance of the box has changed..neither of these issues is any "biggie"..lol..nothing to fret over..but i would just like to know why this has happened suddenly if i made no changes to my firefox..anyone????

I've been using Firefox for years, however as of last week I can no longer open a new tab. I have to go to "file > new window" new tab quick function nor dropdown work. I'm using a Mac OS X 10.9.3.

Try a clean installation of the Flash Plug-in as follows.
First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
Flash Player Uninstaller.
When the download has completed, close all browser windows, open your Download folder and run the uninstaller. After this has completed, restart the PC.
Next, ( unless you already have it ), download and install Firefox and then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash. Note: You may want to deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before downloading.
Close all browser windows before running the Flash installer.
Launch Firefox and see if Youtube videos etc play Ok in this browser - if they do, close Firefox, open Internet Explorer and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component. When done, restart Internet Explorer.

You are prompted for a password before installing Flash? If so, this is your Mac's admin password, which doesn't have anything to do with your Apple ID unless you chose to use the same password for your computer admin login account as is used for your Apple ID.

Adobe CEF Helper is sending data. How can I stop this?

After starting my mac Adobe CC starts sending data. It is a lot of data (7 GB a day) and makes working very slow. How can I stop this. I closed Adobe CEF Helper, but it starts again after some moments. Only closing CC ends the process. Why wants Adobe my datas? There are two different Flash Player Plugins for Windows (3 if you count Google Chrome, but it's built in and functions independently of the other two).
The one for Firefox won't affect IE.

Download and run both of those. That should have you up to date.

It's always okay. Hackers try to find ways to attack it, Adobe fixes it. Just like Apple releases patches for flaws that have been found. Just like Microsoft constantly releases security fixes for its OS and other software.
No software is perfectly and forever safe, and unlikely ever will be. The only thing you must do in respect to the Flash Player is to only ever get it directly from Adobe. Never, EVER pay attention to any third party site that pops up a message about having to update flash. Especially if it tells you to download said update from their site.
