I get a "No Editor" when I open a file on Xcode?

Hi gang, I'm new to the forum so my apologies if the question has already been asked.
I keep getting a No Editor every time I reopen my files in xcode? I've trolled online forums for
solutions but none seem to help.
Thanks in advance.
OsX 10.8.2 xcode 4.5.2 (4g2008a)

I'll throw out some ideas I've gleaned from the net - you've probably already tried them - I'm guessing here.
1) Try pressing <Command><1> - Show Project Navigator
from this link xcode4 - Trying to open project in xCode 4 - Stack Overflow
I'm guessing that these are individual files that cause your problem and not the entire project?
Tell me the file extension of the affected files. Or does it happen for all files?
(You can tell I've never had this problem myself.)
Here's some info from the Xcode documentation:
"Xcode provides viewers to display some files for which it has no editor (some audio, video, and graphics files, for example). If you select a file for which Xcode does not have an editor or viewer, Xcode attempts to display the file using the same Quick Look facility used by the Finder."
What happens when you try to open one of these source files in the Finder?
2) Try double-clicking on the file to launch an editor in a separate window.
...yet another piece of info...
"Note: Sometimes an editor pane may display the message “No Editor.” This means that there is no file selected in the detail view or the Groups & Files list."
