Help!1. Back up your iPhoto Library - you should always have a back up anyway.
Most Simple Back Up
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex:
Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically. Examples of such apps: Chronosync or DejaVu . But are many others. Search on MacUpdate
2. Reinstall
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List. -

Dithering...got this message every time
Hi,
Each time i try to apply dithering when bouncing, i get this message:
File with specified name and version number already exist.
result code= -48
File=Output 1-2 (4111).aiff
Then i have to click OK...
So i never know if it actually apllied any dithering to the exported audio.
What's wrong ?

I have encountered this problem, also on a G5. I think I found what might be the problem - it may be to do where Logic saves temporary files (it makes a temporary file of an undithered file (possibly with the same file name as the final file) it then dithers this file to create the final file. If the temporary file storage directory is the same as the destination you have requested and if it is an aiff file (the Logic default) then it will be trying to overwrite itself during the dither process and will fail (error message). Once the dither process is complete the temporary file is erased. With wav files the error won't occur as the .aiff temp file is a different name than the destination .wav.
I found by resetting the record path and/or changing the bounce destination directory the problem went away. I may me totally wrong with my hypothosis but it's worth a try!

hello, this may also be the current problem in firefox 20 that when you first close all open firefox windows and then close the application afterwards it is mistaken for a crash - the bug should be addressed in a later version of firefox.
as a workaround in the meanwhile you could close firefox (through firefox > quit) while the browser window is still running or try this: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named '''browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash'''. double-click it and change its value to '''false'''. -

My intent was to report that there was at least one other user encountering a similar problem. It occurred to me that Adobe might be interested in determining the scale of a problem which causes one of their best known products to fail to run quite so completely after a clean install
I also see that I misreported the OS I'm running - its Windows 8.

The X230 has Intel HD 4000 graphics support built in to the processor. Windows was pretty stubborn about refusing driver updates, but I just managed to get drivers from the Intel site to install and Photoshop is now running, so hopefully I need not try your patience any further.
In case anyone else has a similar problem and stumbles on this the way to install the driver that worked was to:
- download the zip version of the generic driver from Intel
- use the 'have disk' option in the windows dialog to install the driver - other paths in the UI did not work with windows refusing to install the driver. -

When you are looking at the small pictures in the organizer, you are seeing the thumbnails that were stored within the organizer catalog when you first imported them into the organizer. When you first imported the files, the organizer saved the location of that file and the pointer to the thumbnail. When you try to edit or print the image, the organizer can no longer find the image at the stored location - the file is missing.

The changing drive letter is the most common cause when images are stored on an external drive.
I'm not sure what you mean about when you say "did not go back into categories like I had them on version 7".
If you updated to version 12 from version 7 on the same PC, there was no need to move any of the images so they should be in the same folders as before. The catalog should have been converted for you (if you allowed it) and so all your albums and tags should have been preserved.

Warning message every time I open an app
I ended a Creative Cloud subscription and then opened another one because I got a free year from one of my employers. Since the new subscription, I've been getting messages every time I open an application saying that Adobe is having trouble verifying my membership. It also give the amount of days remaining for me to verify it before eberything stops working. This is happening on both my desktop and my laptop. The only thing that I can think to do is uninstall everything and then reinstall so that Adobe is reinstalling everything on the new subscription. I wanted to know if this was the case before trying it because this would be a bit of a pain. I don't mind doing it if that's the answer to the problem. Whatever I have to do, I also need to know if it's something I have to do on both machines running the software. Thanks!

While all you want is just to place pins, realize that Motion has so much more. All kinds of effects and they can be really customized. Maybe put their street address, contact name, and phone number by the pin?

If you're using the map for, say, deliveries, and use an iPad, what you could do is have a general map of the area imported into Motion, create the pins and whatever, then save (share?) it to the iPad.

Okay, I download all the time for my Sims 2 game. The format of the files I download are .package files, and used a program called package installer to open. Every time I open one of the files, it gives me this stupid warning telling me that they might contain a program. Great. I know that. Is there any way to disable this stupid message?

Since the user account that originally downloaded and installed FireFox and Skype no longer exists, I would re-download these .dmgs from the internet using your current admin account, remove the old apps and re-install new ones from these new .dmgs, and run the apps at least once from the same admin account that downloaded and installed them. The quarantine should then be lifted, even if you later switch to a different account. -
