I have a blank itunes library how do i get music from ipod to library
we recently had to completely reset the operating system for the computer knowing this would wipe out mmy itunes library on the computer i still have the entirety of it on my ipod device i was able to transfer my purchases but can't put music i hadn't bought through itunes
Hello ecgambit,
There are 2 different options. The first is to copy the content manually from your iPod using the instructions in an article such as this one.
Another option would be to use some sort of 3rd party software to help you accomplish the task. See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer for a small list of possibilities.

How do i transfer music from IPOD to Library
I have music on my ipod that wasn't purchased thru itunes. I cannot transfer this music from ipod to itunes.Itunes will only transfer purchased music using version 9. Help..............
Message was edited by: Sid IIIThe only way that I could advise you to do is by an application which is available for free on the app store called "Isharemusic". The applications has been giving an okay reviews on the Internet sites... That application allows you to send songs you have on your iPod to your email, from there you can download them to your home computer or whatever. Then you could add them to the iTunes library in your own ways.
Application link to the app store below:

How do you transfer music from ipod to library
how do you transfer music from ipod to library
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The exception is itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchases
As all of the music came from your computer in the first place, it should still be there and it should be included in your regular backup of your computer. -
Hi,
I had a hard drive failure on my old PC and I couldn't retrieve anything. I have purchased a new PC and downloaded itunes (Version I'm not use to which isn't helping) and signed in however it only has my purchased songs on the cloud which I need to download into my library from cloud. However I have thousands of songs that I imported into my old library from CD's etc which is no lost apart from all the data held on my ipod.
So my Ipod is more up-to-date then my library now. When I look to sync my ipod it says everything will be removed and will be replaced with content from the library. I've had a look around and I can't see a way to get my music from my ipod to my library.
Is there anything I can do, please help?
ThanksSee:

I only have a iPad (no pc) how do I get music from ipad to pod?
As I have a classic iPod and no mac just a ipad2 how do it transfer music I have downloaded to the classic? I tried syncing between the iPad and iPod classic with a connection lead but did not work. Any ideas?
It can't be done. You can only load data onto an iPod classic from a computer running iTunes or third party software with iPod support.

PC hard disk replaced. How do I get music from iPod back onto PC
My pc hard disk crashed. I replaced it and reinstalled Windows XP. I have lost all the music I had on my laptop. I don't want to reload from CD's again and I don't want to loose the music I downloaded.
Can I get the music from my iPod mini back onto my computer and if so, how?Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -
How do I get music from my PC, that was originally from CDs, to the iPod touch? I think you have to get them on iTunes 1st, then sync them over to the iPod? How do you do this whole process? Thanks, I'm very NEW at this.
To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions

Why is my library empty once reloading iTunes on 'repaired' PC?
How do I get all my music from iPod to Library?Pierre, South Dakota? If so that's awesome. Go South Dakota!
Anyways, the first thing you can do is transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod Touch to your PC. To do this, choose File -> Transfer Purchases in iTunes. You should authorize your new PC before doing this by clicking the Store drop down menu and selecting Authorize this Computer. Then enter in your Apple ID/iTunes Store account credentials.
For all other content that was not purchased from the iTunes store, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different software available to assist you with this task.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2452022?start=0&tstart=0
Finally, right->click on your iPod Touch under the Devices section in iTunes, and choose Backup. Then after erasing and syncing your iPod, restore from that back up. Or better yet, copy a backup from your old PC to your new one if at all possible. Here is more information on backing up and restoring your iPod .

Copy from iPod to PC
It is important not to allow your iPod to sync with an empty library. If it is set to synchronise automatically you will get a message saying your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to sync – it is important to press cancel as syncing with an empty library erases all music from your iPod.
You can also prevent auto sync by holding down shift & ctrl as you plug in your iPod and keeping the keys held down until the iPod appears in iTunes.
Once you are connected, you need to set your iPod to manage music manually.

If you have an iPod with iTunes Store purchases on it, you can use it to copy your purchases to other authorized computers.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iTunesWin/7.3/en/2586win.html
However this is not allowed for other music.
This MacMuse tip tells you how to copy music from your iPod using Windows Explorer, but it is a bit fiddly:

Otherwise you can use third party software to manage the transfer, there are a variety of programs out there, some free and some that will copy ratings and counts as well as the music files. Here is a selection, check them out and see what suits you.

I uploaded pictures from a second camera and my iphoto created a second library, how do i get back to the first library? Can anyone help?
I have no idea what you did or what happened - but I can assure you that loading from a different camera does not create a new library
So you need to supply information and someone here will assist you in sorting this out and figuring out what you really did
What version of iPhoto do you have? What version of the OS? Why do you think that a second library has been created? What do you see when you launch iPhoto with the optipon kep depressed and use the select library option? Where is your iPhoto library normally?
Anything else you can tell us that might help?
