I have a Maverick "open in new window" link reference

I have a link reference which appears to have changed itself. Seriously, originally the link sent the viewer to a new page in the same browser window. Now it is opening the link in a new window.
This appears to be the case for the same link on all the pages on the site Im working on.
this is most troublesome as there isnt any readily apparant reason for this behavior.
What can I do to cure this problem?
Thank you.

Let me post the code here

First, as others have already stated.....make sure the checkbox is deselected for "open folders in tabs instead of windows" in Finder Preferences.
If you're like me and don't like tabs very much, there is a way to make folders always open in windows with a simple click (I'm using Mavericks 10.9.5).  Go to a root folder (for example, the Documents Folder), open it, and select View > Hide Toolbar, then all folders within that root folder will open in a new window.
As an alternative method, any folder can be opened in a new window by holding down either Command Key while clicking the folder. But sooner or later you will forget to hold down that key, and then clicking on a folder will open in a tab (which will automatically resize the window and cause much aggravation).
The Hide Toolbar trick will also work with any folder present on the Desktop. It will make all folders inside that folder open in new windows.
To make the Applications Folder open in a new window when opening it from the menu bar at the top of the screen, you will have to open the main hard drive folder and use the Hide Toolbar trick. This will cause all folders inside it to open in new windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • Open PDF in same browser when the preference is set to open in new window.

The corporate policy for all applications is to open the PDF document in new browser/reader but our application needs the reader to open in the same browser even the preference "Display PDF in Browser" is unchecked.... The setPreference from javascript (html) doesn't seemed to work... How do i make this work?
Also, I need the links the browser to open in new browser once the PDF is loaded... do I need to reset the preference once it is loaded for the links to open in new browser?
    thanks,
    - Ray

There is no way to override that from your application.   And if the Links in the PDF have an explicit "open in new window" setting, that is respected over the preference.

  • Target Document open in new window DEFAULT?

    Hello,
I am working with a 50+ page document, each page has a TON of links, some shoot to websites, other pages in the document and finally... launches new PDFs on the DVD (to specific pages).
My question is this: I am going through Acrobat and modifing all the buttons that launch other PDFs. After I set the link, i have to modifiy that link to have the document "Open in: New Window"
Is there a way to automate that? Set that option to be default? This would cut a ton of time out.
    Thanks in advance!

It doesn't happen that way here. A new instance is always opened when I invoke from the run box.

  • Is there a way to have new windows/links open behind the current open window, running Mavericks?

I would like to have new windows that open from links, or when I "right-click, open new window", to open behind the window I am reading from, working from, browsing, etc. I often am doing research, and opening multiple supplemental links, but do not like having to click back to the page I am working from every time.
A separate choice when I right click, to "open in new window behind current window" would be great!

There is no add on that I know of that can do this, but there has been an implementation found for javascript via this link:
*[http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17570412/prevent-document-losing-a-focus-when-new-tab-is-opened Stackoverflow: prevent document from losing a focus when a new tab is opened]
    * There is also an about:config entry: [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction Browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction] that is explained wht to do when clicking on a link in a webpage that requires a new window open, but it does not restrict the focus of the tab

  • Firefox will not open a new window for a website when it is supposed to and then will not close properly. I have un-installed and re-installed and problem persists, why? How is it solved?

When I go on to some websites and click on certain things it wants to open a new window to display the information etc.
I.E. On an agency job search site I click to do a detailed job search which should open in a new window, but this will not happen now on my Firefox.
Firefox was working perfectly ok on Saturday 11th September but for some unknown reason has acted up since Sunday.
There have been no Windows updates which could effect this and the laptop is otherwise working perfectly ok.
Nothing has changed from Saturday Night to Sunday Night that I can see.
I have even tried to do a system restore to solve the problem but with no success.

I also have this problem. I cannot open links from a discussion board I frequent nor can I open links from my email. Also after opening my email, I cannot go to any other sites except my home page. I can then go no where else.
When I close Firefox and try to reopen it, it does nothing! I have to bring up the Task Manager and end the Firefox process before I can get back in.
To the best of my knowledge, this problem started with the new update to Ver. 3.6.9. I am running Windows XP Media Center 2005

I ran a virus scan and there is nothing. I have windows and firefox is my home page, btw when I go to IE I do not have this problem, Seems like when firefox installs a new version something happens,.

  • Using Firefox 5 in Windows 7, once I have Firefox open, I can no longer open a new window using the start button. How do I fix?

As I stated, I have Windows 7 on my laptop and have installed Firefox 5. I sometimes like to have multiple windows of the browser open. But, unlike any previous version of Firefox, now when I have the browser open, when I try to open a new window using the Start menu, it will not open one. I have to use Ctrl+N. Why did this change?
This may seem insignificant but it really hampers my work flow. For one, with other applications, Shift+N is what opens a new window. For two, I've been doing with with my browsers for years now and it's like second nature for me - having to remember that in Firefox it's Ctrl+N is a pain in my tuccus.
Firefox is my go to browser and I would like it to stay that way. Please find the solution for me! I have tried looking using Tools, Options, as well as looking at my start menu and taskbar options, and no dice.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Others have commented on this too.  It seems to be one of the 'improvements' of the newer version you are supposed to embrace with joy as an exciting new development.  You can send feedback to Apple but realize you may be perceived as standing in the path of  progress.

Why did you delete your profile? Also how? Did you use the profile manager or did you delete from the windows file structure?
It sounds like something during the profile delete has stopped Firefox from starting up. Please see the this article and follow the steps:
