  • Problem with Safari keeping a cache of my site...

I'm trying to figure out why Safari is keeping a cache of my swf files which is causing some viewers to see old content.  I've tested in IE and Firefox and they seem to be working fine.  Is there a work around or another way to solve this issue with Safari wihout dumping the cache for the entire site everytime, and maybe just dumping the cache for the specific swf file that is being updated. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

  • Top sites and video problems with Safari 4.0 and Snow Leopard

Since installing Snow Leopard, I've had problems with Safari 4.0. My Top Sites page doesn't load anymore, I get a blank white page. Also, video tutorials from Apple's own site will not display the video. I hear the audio portion but do not get video. When I load the same pages in Firefox, they run as they are supposed to. In Leopard, everything was fine. Any help resolving these issues would be appreciated.

Nevermind. After restarting a couple of times, it worked itself out.

Did all this still no luck it saved apple login on here and saved gmail account but others one it used to save does no longer.here is what i did below and still no luck.
    Instructions
    Set Your Passwords Preferences
    1
Open up your Safari Web browser and choose 'Preferences' from the Safari pull down menu
    2
    Click on the heading 'AutoFill.'
Click on the box next to 'User Names and Passwords.'
    4
    Close the 'Preferences' window.
    Save Your Passwords
    5
Go to a Web page that requires a password and enter in your chosen password. Safari will then ask if you would like to save this password.
    6
Click on the button 'Yes' in order to save the password.
    7
Complete steps 1 and 2 for any other passwords that you want Safari to remember.
    Manage Your Passwords
    8
Go to the 'AutoFill' section in the Safari Preferences window.
    9
Click on the 'Edit' button to the right of where it says 'User Names and Passwords.' This will bring up a window displaying all of the passwords and usernames that you have authorized Safari to save.
    10
Click on a password listing and push the 'Remove' button in order to delete the password from Safari's memory.
    11
Choose 'Remove All' in order to delete all of the saved passwords.

I suggest that you run software update, after which you should have Safari 6.0.5 - then check Safari - Preferences - Privacy & see that 'Block cookies' is not set to Always.
Failing that - switch Safari extensions Off via Safari - Preferences - Extensions & test again

OK, it now sort of works. A couple of problems here:
After updating IOS, Safari iCloud was "automatically" switched off
Switching it on had no effect
resetting my iPad automatically switched off safari iCloud again
after switching it back on, it said "turning off safari data"
switched it off and on again, now it said : "turning on safari data" and the sync worked
    On IOS 7 no problems
The bookmarks not being displayed was because after pressing the book icon, it defaulted to showing the history and I had to press "Back" to get to the other options

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Empty the Safari cache more often.

Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now click Develop from the menu bar. From the drop down menu click Empty Caches.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • I am having problems attaching files to my email using the latest Firefox 13.0.1, Comcast is my internet provider, but I did not have problem with Safari.

Why am I having problems attaching files to my email using Firefox 13.0.1.?
I am using a MAC, OS 10.6.8, and have Comcast as my internet provider. I noticed after I upgraded to Firefox 13.0.1 that I am having problems attaching files to my email. I do not experience the same problem with Safari, but I prefer to use Firefox, as all of my bookmarks and passwords are saved there. I just like the way Firefox works better than Safari.
I am a free-lance graphic designer and rely on my internet connection to my customers. I need this resolved ASAP!

Could you start by resetting the zoom level on the page? To do that, you can either:
    * Press Ctrl+0 (that's a zero) on the keyboard
    * View menu > Zoom > Reset
You also can use zoom to increase/decrease the size from there. This article describes the various mouse, keyboard, and menu methods: [[Font size and zoom - increase the size of web pages]].
    Any luck?

  • Problems with Safari 5.1.10

I am having problems with safari 5.1.10 running on a minimac with os x 10.6.8.
Some websites are fine but on others it doesn't always load up images or all the content and the screen wont scroll or any links/buttons dont work.
Sometimes the a site can be fine for a while then suddenly start doing it.
One site was fine yesterday but is doing it today.
When you get a site that isn't working properly you can try to scroll down or click something and nothing happens but then if you click off safari and then back on what you had done happens!
Its driving me mad now any suggestions?
I have tried clearing the cashe and switching off IPv6 after reading various similar threads.
I though the IPv6 thing had worked as the current website I was one which was working then started working but the next page I site I tried didn't and the original one stopped again.
I'm connected to a network including various other macs using different versions of safari and different operating systems and a G5 on snow leopard with the same version of safari all of which work fine.

Sometimes just restarting your Mac can fix a myriad of issues with Safari.
If that doesn't help, from your Safari menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari
    Select:
    Clear History
    Remove All Website Data
    Clear Downloads window
Quit and relaunch Safari to tet.

  • Too many problems with Safari

I've been having problem with Safari these past few days.
    (1) First, if I click in a pdf file it doesn't download it and open it as it used to.
    (2) Then, I can no longer watch videos in YouTube and other sites. I got a message to upgrade my flash and did so (having first to stop the dashboard client), but I still get the same message that I need flash and a link to download it (no flash problems if I use FireFox but I much prefer Safari).
    (3) The RSS feed icon on the address bar is gone and I can't find a way to restore it.
Any ideas on how to fix these problems? Or should I just reinstall Safari? I don't even know if it is possible or how to do it.
    Thanks

Sorry about being vague. I forgot to mention my OS version, etc. I'm running Leopard 10.5.7, Safari 4.0.2 (ver 5530.19).
The RSS feed icon just reappear with a restart of the OS.
My other issues are still there; still requiring that I install Flash (btw, I don't know the version of Flash Player that I installed but it must be 10 since I first got it as a push down update (which I thought it was weird since I had had 10 for quite a while) and the last time I went directly to adobe to download it). As I mentioned I can't watch youtube. I get the following message: "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player." When I try to watch the Daily Show I just see a black scree with a link to Adobe Flash Player on it.
As to reading pdf files, I used to click in a pdf and it was open not in the browser but separately by Adobe Reader and this was automatic. Now I just click on a pdf document and it opens in a separate tab but hangs there without displaying or opening Adobe Reader. All I get is a little square blue box with a question mark at the upper left corner of my screen.
No, I did not install any software for quite a while, not even a widget. Mind you, I was watching the Daily Show online just this past weekend.

  • I "upgraded" to FF4, now it doesnt work properly, wont open pages, will open blank tabs when i click on a link, tried to go back to the older one but that doesnt work now either, have tested it with Safari and it opens everything fine. Any ideas?

After upgrading to firefox 4 im now having a lot of problems using the browser.
if i try an open a link in a new tab it will just open up a blank tab, if i click on links or even type in the google search bar at the top it doesnt do anything, it just says "done" and the circle thing stops as if im on the page already, have tested it with Safari doing the same things and Safari works fine. I'd swap but all my bookmarks and passwords are in Firefox so id rather stay with that.
I tried going back to the older version of firefox (3.5 or something) but seems the bugs are here to stay now.......so.......any ideas? because its really annoying, shouldn't have "upgraded".
Is there a new patch coming out anytime soon or should i start getting used to Safari?
    Thanks for your help.

I would copy over the entire thing if you have room.  With iTunes 10.4 though, you can download any previous iTunes purchases you have made in the past with your current iTunes account.  While in iTunes, look at the left hand side of your screen and select "Purchases" and look at the bottom right corner of the screen and select "Download Previous Purchases".  If you have an iPhone, iPod and/or iPad...you can do the same thing from each device.  Nice new feature...just remember that those ripped CDs need a back-up!!!  Enjoy...

  • Problem with safari and wallpaper etc

I have a problem with safari and dashboard wallpaper... After rebot i loose history and topsites from safari. My deskboard wallpaper swiched back to this http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs28/f/2008/097/f/8/MacbookPro_Wallpaper_by_desingsblp.jpg
Whats is wrong with my mac?

    HI and welcome...
Remove that particular desktop wallpaper. That's probably what's causing your to lose History and TopSites.
Open a Finder window. Now open the Library folder then the Safari folder. See if that wallpaper is hiding in the Safari folder. Mine does that also. If it's there, move it to the Trash but don't empty the Trash.
Quit Safari (Command + Q) Now relaunch Safari. If History and TopSites are ok, then empty the Trash. It's that image causing the problem.
