I have an external HD with PDFs that can be opened with Windows XP and 8 but not Windows 7. Different version of Adobe reader and Pro on the Windows 7 systems does not make a difference.
What Reader version you have on Windows 7?
Can you open such a file with Notepad, then copy and paste the first few lines here in the forum?

That is a Windows Backup file. I seriously doubt that there will be any way to read that on a Mac. Do you have a Windows machine that you can use to open those files and save the contents in a more friendly format?

Trying to play purchased TV series to my Apple TV, I am requested to authorise the computer. This has already been done and I have tried the suggestions regarding authorisation. I can play the programs on my computer, but not the Apple TV.

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try to launch one of the problem apps. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

Sorry, but Apps purchased from the App store are not compatible with your iPod classic. Apps are only compatible with an iPod Touch, iPhone, and/or iPad.

I have 2 email accounts set up. I can now get new messages from one but not the other one.
I followed the steps outlined in a previous message. I have a Yahoo Small Business Account. I think all of the settings are correct. I can't see any new messages on one of the accounts. One message from 7-20-14 keeps coming up over and over.
When I press Get mail, I see "downloading message 1 of 55 to [email protected], but then it changes to "nothing to download".
Can you help me retrieve my messages from the last 3 days? Thank you.I think you will find an anti virus program is causing the issue here. They often go a bit nuts when Thunderbirds version number changes.
Try changing the settings to disable email scanning in your anti virus. -

Would you know whether there is an incompatibility between iPad2 and outlook 2010 calendar? I can sync outlook appointmens down to the device but not up to the computer calendar. The same occurs with my iPhone 4, can sync appointments down to the device, but not back up to the computer. I have just upgraded to Mavericks and have been using Time Machine on an external disk with Snow Leopard. Can I continue to backup with Time Machine on the same external disk or do I need a new disk since the operating system has changed?

I found that Time Machine in Mavericks will sort it all out for you. You shouldn't need to buy another backup drive, unless you have insufficient space left and can't afford to delete whats on there. It should just work fine. -
My new LaCie external hard drive is 'seen' by my iMac and I can go into the Finder and open files and folders. I am using the hard drive for Time Machine back up. However Time Machine says it can't find the drive.
The same thing happened recently between Final Cut Express and my other LaCie external hard drive used as the Scratch disk. It fixed itself.

You cannot have time machine backups on your hard drive if you intend to use it in FCPX.

Hi. I have a Dell PC running Windows 7 64 bit. I have the latest version of Adobe Reader, It worked yesterday. Today I have job training to do that is due tomorrow morning and I can't open PDF files. I have to open a guide and read it and take a test tomorrow. I have deleted and reinstalled the application. I have rebooted. I have made sure my PDF's are associated with the program. Every PDF on my computer won't open and I get the same error message. It simply says Attempt to access invalid address. How can I fix this? Thanks.

I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
BEFORE:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
AFTER:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old

How can I use pdf pack to convert cubase documents (music scores) into pdfs? I am looking for the former possibility to install acrobat like a printer but i don't have this option with "pdf pack". Can you help?

What format are those music scores (I'm not familiar with cubase documents). But, it may be that Adobe PDF Pack doesn't support that format. In that case, Acrobat is the way to go. You can then print your files to PDF as you'd like. You're welcome to try Acrobat for free for 30 days to see whether it's going to work for you. If you decide it is, and you'd like to use it going forward, you could convert your PDF Pack subscription into an Acrobat subscription.
