I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone. The iPhone only accepts transfers from the original iTunes PC.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.

What happens when you try to sync the iphone to the new computer?

If you check manually manage music you can.
Perhaps you should read the manual:

  • I have downloaded music from cd's onto my itunes on my computer, however we use the same computer for 2 iphones in our house and i cannot transfer music from the itunes on our computer to the second iphone, but its fine on the first? help?!

I have an iphone 4 and my dad has a iphone 5s, we both use the same computer to sync to itunes and add music etc and therefore share a itunes library and just add our own music to our phones, but recently i havent been able to add music that is already in the itunes library for example from a cd, onto my iphone 4, i used to be able to use the typical 'drag and drop' method but now it jut doesnt work? it still works fine for my dad oh his iphone 5s but not for me? Any ideas on how i can transfer music?

  • Cannot transfer music from iTunes to iPod Shuffle

Still having difficulty getting my head around how this iTunes stuff works.  I logged into iTunes and redeemed a $15 gift card by entering the code on the back.  I saw the $15 balance added to my account.  I proceeded to buy two songs, but now cannot get them onto the iPod Shuffle device.  I'm using a new Windows 8 PC and the iPod does not appear as a device within in iTunes.  So I remove the Shuffle from the USB port and take it to the older Windows 7 PC, plug it in, and now it shows up in iTunes on that machine.  However, when the two new songs I purchased don't show up in the Library there so when I try to Sync with the Shuffle, no new songs come over.
On the Windows 8 PC, I see the two new songs along with three earlier purchased songs in the Library.  However, only the three earlier songs display the "Download from iCloud" icon next to them.  I'm guessing this means that the two new purchased songs only reside locally on the Windows 8 PC (where the purchase was initiated) and therefore cannot yet be seen from the Windows 7 PC.  If this is the case, how do I get the two new songs into iCloud so that I can transfer them to the Shuffle from the Windows 7 PC?  Or better yet, is there a way to get iTunes to see the Shuffle through Windows 8 so I can just transfer it from there?
This is all far too confusing than it needs to be.  For a company that touts its "It Just Works" slogan, this experience is extremely disappointing.

After some period of time, I eventually was able to see the newly purchased songs in the Library from the Windows 7 PC (not sure if there is typically such a delay).  I then finally figured out that I needed to click the "Download from iCloud" icons to manually initiate the download of the two new songs to the iTunes repository on that PC.  At this point, I found that re-running Sync finally completed the transfer of the songs to the iPod Shuffle.
Still curious about why the device isn't detected on the Windows 8 PC, though.  But apparently it's a common issue as I get a lot of hits on this when I Google it.

  • ? after updating to itunes 10.6.3 on my pc, cannot transfer music files to iphone 4s

after updating to itunes 10.6.3 on my pc windows 7, i cannot transfer music from pc to iphone 4s

When I try to "drag and drop" a song, it just does not allow me to do it (circle with line thru it). I should also mention that I just changed PC's as well.  I tsnsferred all of the music files from the hdd of the old to the new. After reading some of the other posts, I think this might have more to do with the problem than the switch to itunes 10.6.3?

Honestly, all the people in all the world that look at this forum, no-one can tell me why my itunes is causing my machine to fall over?
I wiped the machine and started again. Fresh XP install, fresh iTune download, fired it up imported one album and bang. Over it went. I've PC Checked the hard ware, mad onioned the system to see if it's a resource thing but it's rock solid until i open iTunes. Then after every re-boot, the message is back in the event log.
    This:

  • How do I prevent itunes from moving my music from its original place ie folders in an external drive when I play music from itunes. I have all my music in artist folders and separated by MPG3/MPG4 and FLAC folder within the artist folder.

How do I prevent itunes from moving my music from its original place ie folders in an external drive when I play music from itunes. I have all my music in artist folders and separated by MPG3/MPG4 and FLAC folders within the artist folder and itunes moves the track/s whenever i try and load selected music to my ipod/iphone. I've tried to find some sort of preference to prevent this, but no joy? What am I missing?

Try opening iTunes preferences. Then click on advanced tab. Then uncheck "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library." By default, iTunes copies music to its own media folder when you use iTunes to play the music.

  • I have moved my itunes to a  new computer and now my ipod will lnot sync with new line up

i have moved mu itunes to a new computer and my ipod will not sync with new music.

If you are using automatic syncing, you may need to set up the iPod's Music tab in iTunes.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Select Music there.  This is the Music tab, where you tell iTunes how to sync the iPod with songs.  Sync Music is checkmarked for automatic syncing.
If your entire iTunes music library can fit on the nano, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, create your selection of songs below.  For example, if you want to keep it simple, create a new playlist in iTunes.  Put ALL songs you want on the iPod on that playlist, including songs from the newly added music.  Back on the Music tab, find and checkmark that new playlist under Playlists.
When you click Apply, your selection of songs on the Music tab syncs to the iPod, replacing its current content.  Going forward, any changes that are related to the Music tab settings sync automatically when you connect the iPod, or when you click Sync.  So, if there is a playlist with your "iPod songs," you can just update that playlist (add and remove songs) whenever you want; iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes at the next opportunity.

  • I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space, and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run t media from an external hard drive? If so, how do I transfer my files?

I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space (32 GB), and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run itunes from an external hard drive? I have tried to follow some of the directions on this site, but am having no success. Thanks.

iTunes will run fine with the media on an external drive.
However, I suggest that a tablet computer with a tiny hard drive is not ideal as the primary computer for managing an iTunes library, even a small one. If you have another machine, perhaps a big, boxy, inexpensive old desktop with a decent amount of storage, that might be a better choice.

How can I transfer music from my iPhone to my iPad.?
I no longer have a PC. Mine died and cannot be restored. It had iTunes with my entire music library on it.

If you are running an OS of 5.0 or higher, you should be able to use the iCloud to sync both devices together & share music.

How do I manually transfer music with the new itunes update for Windows?  I don't want to sync my library and lose all of my music for what I have in my current library.

The same way it was done in every previous version.
Connect the device to the computer.
Right click on the device in iTunes and select Transfer Purchases.
Why would you lose any content by syncing with iTunes?
Is this not the computer that the device is normally synced with?
