I home alarm clock dock damaging ipod

My daughter has gone through 3 ipods in 4 months now.  She puts her ipod into the ihome dock to either listen to music or charge it.  It works for about 3-4 weeks and then from one day to the next, she takes it out of ihome and the ipod completely stops working.  What is going on?

I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store  and take the iPods and dock.
If you look at the dock connectors on the iPods do they look damaged? Like bend contact or broken plastic pieces?
Also, are you fully seating the iPods in the dock?

  • HT4972 since update to IOS 5.1.1  -  problem with iluv IMM173 DUAL DOCK ALARM CLOCK DOCKING STATION. - CRASHES WHENEVER UPDATED IPHONE 4S CONNECTED

Hi, since most recent update (IOS 5.1.1) to my iphone 4s, I am experiencing problems(ONLY SINCE MOST RECENT IOS 5.1.1.UPDATE) with my 'iluv' IMM173 DUAL DOCK ALARM CLOCK DOCKING STATION.
Every time I connect my iphone it causes the docking station to crash/freeze and become totally non-responsive. However, if I remove my iphone, then connect my wife's
iphone 4 (IOS 5.0.10) The docking station then syncs time and date as normal with the iphone, and reverts back to function normally.
Has anyone else experienced the problem please, and if so, is there a remedy ?

    1.  I cannot open my camera from the home screen.  The icon is there but when you click on it it shakes and starts to open up but than slides down back to the home screen.  I have tried closing the camera app resetting my phone but nothing seems to fix it.   I can still open up the camera regularly by unlocking the phone first and than going to the camera app.  But the camera button on the home screen just doesn't work for me anymore.  I know with 5.1 they made it where it wont disappearing from the home screen so my guess is the issue must be related to that somehow.
From the locked screen, swipe the camera icon upwards to open the camera app.  This is a new feature in 5.1.

  • Alarm clock dock

    Hey all,
Has anyone purchased an ipod alarm clock dock? Any recommendations?
    thanks

It would help to know which model iPod you have, since some docking accessories only work with the recent iPod. The 5th gen "video" iPod and the iPod nano seem to be the dividing line between new and old iPods.

  • Any indicators for  3rd party Radio alarm clock docks and iPhone 5?

Has Apple created any guidelines for the iPhone 5 when using an older radio alarm clock dock, using the lightning to 30 pin adapter ? My iPad is no problem, but my iPhone 5 (when I have it in hand) might be. Any ideas?

  • Alarm clock dock speeding up music

    Hey folks.
Got a new iPhone 4 8GB running on iOS 5.0.1 stock and an iPod touch 2nd Gen 32GB running jailbroken 3.1.2.
Both these devices, when the alarm goes off with music, the music is slightly faster then normal. Somewheres between 1.1X-1.25X the speed of what the song should be. (checked with friends, they notice it too, so I'm not crazy!) This happens on both devices, been happening on the ipod for probably a month or two, just got the iphone a few days ago. Restored the iPhone after noticing the issue is still happening, and it made no effect.
This only happens when the alarm goes off with the devices connected, and will actually still continue to happen on the devices themselves for anywheres from 4hours-2 days. I don't power off or power cycle my devices daily and can't figure out what stops the song speed up from happening.
I hit the reset pinhole switch on the bottom of the alarm clock, then took out the power cable and batteries, left it like that for an hour. Still happening after.

That is the alarm clock there, I honestly cannot figure this out. Been poking Google and Bing but nothing yet. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • Help, since my update to my Iphone 4, it will no longer charge on my alarm clock docking station. The station I purchased four months ago from Target.

It will still charge my ipod, but not my iphone. I keep getting a message on my phone when I put it on the dock, saying that it is not supported by this divise. Please help. I am not going to go out and spend another 35.00 on an alarm clock when this one works perfectly fine, my phone is just being picky. Please help.

Talk to Toyota. The fault is in their in-car system. Talk to Toyota corporate. The dealers are clueless. Your system needs to be updated.

  • Using the Alarm clock -- does the ipod need to be on the charger?

Does the ipod (touch 4g) have to be on the charger in order for the alarm clock to work?
Or does the ipod "awake" from the off position and sound the alarm?

The alarm will work if the iPod is asleep (screen goes black automatically after set period of inactivity or you momentarily press the power button and you have to slide to unlock). However, if you power it off (hold power until power off slider appears and you slide it) it will not alarm.

  • Does a clock/ alarm clock app damage the PB screen?

There are some nice clock apps for the playbook and I'd like to put my PB in a dock for overnight chaging and have the screen display a clock, but I'd rather not do that if it will damage the screen or visuals?

  • Ihome dock damaged ipod?

I have a new ipod dock (the iHome iH5), not an Apple product. I put my iPod (20GB) in the dock & charged it. Then, I turned it on to shuffle. Songs skipped a bit & now my iPod is totally screwed up. All the songs are gone; my computer doesn't recognize the iPod & even after opening the updater and doing a restore, when I open iTunes, nothing happens--I get a message that I've inserted an unrecognizable disk. Very frustrating.
So, I have many questions about what to do next. I've been trying to figure out what to do after the restore, but more importantly, since I can't find any information about this, how likely is it that the dock itself is the culprit. If so, should I just return it... or...?
Thanks for any advice you may have.

If it is under warranty exchange it.

  • Are any radio/alarm clock docking stations with a lightning connector coming out soon?

I've had the iPhone 5 for a while now, and I've been waiting for a product like the iHome to come out with the lightning connector.  However, I haven't heard or seen any news about this.  Is anybody aware of any products coming out?

iHome already makes docks that support the Lightning connector:

  • Using with alarm clocks..(ie iLuv, etc)

    Hello,
I juss bought an alarm clock for my iPod shuffle, I was wondering if I used the ipod for the clock and left it playing overnight(sleep) and as an alarm(music) itself in the morning, would my battery die out faster?
    help would be much appreciated..

Could you be a bit...ummm... more detailed?
    ok, i try..
the alarm clock I'm using is iLuv i177..it has a usb port on it, where I can plug in my shuffle.
It can play while I put it on sleep mode(that would mean I would leave the shuffle on while it is in the usb),
and when it is a beautiful morning, I can wake up listening to my favorite trance.
I'm not familiar with how the clock works, but I'm assuming that the shuffle will be on all night and will be hooked up to the usb on the clock at the same time..
So, I'm guessing the battery would be charging overnite and wondering if its life will be shorter?
