I just bought my kids Ipod Nanos - can we all use the same Itunes or do I have to load I-tunes for each Nano?

If you have multiple I-pods/Nano's does each one need their own Itunes icon?  How do you handle I tunes with multiple products?  I tries opening my current itunes and plugging in my kid's Nano.  Itunes just says "doesn't recognize" and instructs me to unplug.
Please advise

It does not. See here for different ways to manage multiple iPods.
How to use multiple iPods, iPads, or iPhones with one computer
So iTunes is telling you unrecognized device or Windows telling you this?  You may need to uninstall and re-install the Nano's drivers.

  • Can 2 iPads Use the Same iTunes???

Can you set up 2 "different" ipads on the same iTunes?  Meaning I have music and movies, etc. on my iTunes on my computer.  Can I plug in my wife's iPad and download "different movies, music, etc on her iPad?
If not, can you have 2 iTunes (same account) on the same computer?
Maybe simple answers but I have no clue.
    Thanks, as usual.

  • Hi all, I have four kids and they are all using the same itunes account.......Is there something I can do so they don't all see eachothers imessages?

My kids are using 4 different ipods with the same itunes/apple account, Is there something I can for them to use facetime/imessages withouth seeing eachothers messages?  I mean set up different accounts for messages?

    - Create a NEW account using these instructions for each user. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
    - Us the new ID for Settings>FaceTime and Settings>Messags>Send and Receive and Settings>iCloud. Continue to use the common ID for Settings>iTuns and App Stores.

  • HT4436 My daughters have their own iTunes accounts; can we all use the same iCloud?

Myself and my husband have iPhones, my two daughters have iPods.  We all have separate iTunes accounts (although we all synch onto the same PC).  How will this work with the iCloud?

To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud too.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photostream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
So the answer to your question, is essentially not necessarily. However generally speaking, it is considered a good idea to have separate iCloud accounts.

  • Why can't I use the same itunes account on my new computer?

I have a nano and had my itunes on my old computer. It crashed. I got a new computer and when I went to download more songs to the nano, it wanted me to delete all the songs. It wouldn't let me download the songs to the new computer. Now I have an ipod touch and an iphone and would like to transfer the songs to them...how does this happen???? I really don't want to lose all those songs. Thanks

You need to use the iTunes backup you made on your old computer and restore it to the new one.

  • HT201209 Can two iphones use the same itune gift card?

My husband and I are new to iphones, and would like to purchase one itunes gift card and both use it on our iphones.  I have an apple id set up, he does not yet have one.  Can we share an itunes account if we have different apple id's?

Related question... I have read mixed reviews on whether or not families with multiple apple products should have a single or many apple ids.  This site is interesting... http://gigaom.com/apple/how-many-apple-ids-should-your-family-have/comment-page- 2/
Is there a general consensus on this issue?  Since my husband has not yet set up an apple id, this is the time we need to decide.
    Thanks so much!

  • HT2204 if i already have an apple id with my itunes and i just bought a new iphone do i want to use the same apple id for icloud as my itunes?

If I already have an apple id for my itunes account and I purchased an iphone should i use the same apple id for the iclouid feature or set up a different one?

Personally, I'd keep it simple and keep the same one.

  • We have 2 iphones 4 and one ipod touch and they all use the same apple address for purchases.  How do we stop getting each others texts?

We are recieveing each others texts, it has only happened since we upgrated to iOS6.  We only get each others iMessages.

You have two issues: 1. iPad is designed for single person use, not multiple users like a computer is, 2. Everyone trying to use this "single person" device uses the same Apple ID. As far as iMessage is concerned, this is the same person...how would it know differently?
There is no solution to fix this. Even if everyone got their own Apple ID's, you're still trying to use a device, designed to be used by a single user, with multiple users. It simple is not gonna work, and if you manage to get it to work, it won't work very well.

  • Just bought a new Ipod Nano for my child, was tryin to go by the directions, but when I plug it in to my computer it wont give me any directions on syncing, can someone please help me???

Just bought a new Ipod Nano, 6th generation, was tryin to following directions on syncing, when I plug it in too my computer,
it doesnt give me any directions on syncing or connecting to my computer, can someone please help me??

There should be an option (on the left hand side of your iTunes) for your iPod. Then when you click on it you will just need to setup and there will be an option to sync at the bottom right hand corner

You need to create a new account for either yourself or your wife, you can choose whether to use this account for iCloud and therefore keep your personal data such as the contacts etc separate, you can continue to use the account you are both using for iTunes so that you may share the content you have already purchased, but each use your own account for iMessage which will stop you receiving each other's messages.

  • Just bought a refurbished ipod nano g1, wont charge the batteries

Just bought a refurbished ipod nano g1, when trying to start it up for the first time, sometimes the apple logo will pop up and stay there for hours and wont let me register my ipod in itunes and other times it will just be a blank screen.
Tried the 5 R when the apple logo popped up, however when i did the "menu and centre button move, but the screen will shut off and wont start up again.
    Faulty hardware?

Your iPhone and iPod can share the same iTunes account.  Apps can be freely shared and used by one or both devices.  You can't use money in your iTunes account to pay for your phone, but purchased apps can be used by both the iPod and iPhone.
