I just don't get it... Your Unlimited Text Messagi...

Why does this company not offer unlimited text messaging on their premium accounts? Google Voice has offered it since it's birth (and for free I might add). Your own GroupMe application offers it in a very unique way, yet you guys don't offer it in a complete package. I don't see the reason for this.<br><br>You guys are a company owned by Microsoft. That means you can be highly integrated into that line of technologies. Yet on top of that you guys have amazing apps for the other mobile OS platforms.<br><br>By opening up the door to a UNLIMITED SUBSCRIPTION SMS (and maybe even MMS support, but I know carriers are more restrictive on that end) your Skype plans can be more than just &quot;another number&quot; it can be everyone's main number. That would be huge.<br><br>The practical uses would be awesome:<br>-Your cell phone number on 4 screens; receiving calls and Text Messages (TV, Phone Tablet, Computer)<br>- ability to add Video option to those screens<br>- ability to send text messages around the world (for an additional subscription based monthly plan)<br>-integration with GroupMe<br>-integration for with Skype Manager. Thus allowing companies to give their employees a dedicated business number able to receiving text messages, calls, and start video conversations with actual customers (Since customers have a Skype accounts) all for a simple monthly cost.<br>-and much much more<br><br>I'm not here asking for the different options you guys have for texting messaging, I am here asking the why you don't have a subscription based text messaging plan.<br>

Streaming from your Mac requires mirroring (using a 2011 or later Mac on Mountaion Lion or through Airparrot for older hardware)
Streaming from 3rd party source using airplay (on IOS) requires them to have enabled the functionality.
Apple TV has no accessible storage and is marketed as a streaming only device

    What worked before doesn't matter. AT&T does not permit the use of pre-paid SIMs in the iPhone, including Go Phone SIMs. They will disable data on the account if they detect one being used.
    The fact is, you can't do that.

    Have your brother create a contact in his phone for himself. Inside his own contact, have him add his phone number and his iCloud address.
    Settings > Messages > Send & Receive Have your brother select both his phone number and email addresses where he would like to receive iMessages.

    As ckuan said, there's no way to mark messages as urgent from the phone. So, either your carrier is doing something and you'll need to contact them or it't something on the other end. Is it just one person who's seeing your texts as urgent? Or everyone?

    Once you merge SMS and Hangouts, Hangout becomes the default handler of incoming and outgoing SMS. To switch to SMS or Hangouts, click the icon on the left side of the Text box.

  • $186 for One Blackberry . . . I just don't get the pricing and can't get a good explanation

    I've had two phones, a Blackberry (1400 mins, 250 mess., 2GB data) and a cheap Samsung (1400 mins, 250 messages). Last month I paid $130 for both of them, $115 for the Blackberry and $15 for the Samsung.
    This month, I asked Verizon to drop the Samsung because it's just not used. My new bill amount is $185.82!!! Wow. I thought I was a reasonably capable person, but I don't get this math by Verizon. I paid $115 for the Blackberry last month and this month I'll pay $186. Was there a penalty for dropping the Samsung add-on phone?
    This is way too pricey for me. As mentioned, maybe AT&T looks a ton more attractive now.

    Verizon increased it to 1400. That is part of the difference. However, that's not a change I would have made. This is a change that HAD to be made when you switched to a Family Plan. When you dropped the Family Plan and changed to an Individual Plan, you would have had to choose  from 450, 900 and unlimited minutes.
    I'm still one person who doesn't use the phone much. I'm not going to up my minutes - I'll use the phone the same amount this month as last. After 50+ years, my phone usage has become fairly stable.
    Anyway, thanks for the help people, but it doesn't seem Verizon CS can do much more than read "accurate" charges to me

    It seems that you are leaving out parts of the story, which makes it even harder to help you. What you need to do is sign into My Verizon, print out your itemized bill, and it will tell you EXACTLY what the additional charges are. It sounds as if you, CS and your 10 year-old son are NOT reading the itemized bill. Otherwise, you would know WHAT the additional charges were.

    I've been using apple computers for years but for some reason i tunes and iphoto do my head in. i'm thnking that I just don't think ike the developers??
    This is what i want to do:
    Yesterday i was at a birthday party and I took some photos and videos with my iphone (as you do). All i want to do is download the photos and videos to my computor, stick them in a folder (or album I guess you would call it), name the album, and  then email the album/folder to a friend.
    questions:
    1.why does my computor load itunes everytime i connect the phone? What does itunes have to do with photos?
    2. if itunes says it's backing up/syncing my phone then is it also doing the downloading of the photos as well?? -ie can i do all that i wnat on itunes?
    3. how do you deal with the size issue? (we're talking 7 photos / 5 movies  - 461mb)
    I'm not dumb...I just seem to have a real block when it comes to the way this software is structured. to me it just seems comlicated when it ought to be simple. Please Help so i can get on top of this once and for all.
    my computer - macbook (white) 10.6.8  - 2Ghz intel core 2 Duo
    iphone - iphone 5 (7.0)
    itunes- 11.1.3 (8)
    iphoto - iphoto 09 (8.1.2)

    Not sure what these have to do with iPhoto but here goes:
    1. iTunes is loading everytime you connect the phone because you didn't tell it not to. It defaults to loading as it's the primary way for getting things onto your phone. Click on your Phone in the iTunes window, then on Summary and then look at the Options pane. Unchek the first one.
    2. I would imagine that yes, it's backing up the phone but no you can't use iTunes to do what you want. That back up is heavily compressed.
    3. I would first understand that there is no way to email 461 mb anywhere.  Sharing video via email is not advisable. Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays.  That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing.
    Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
    How would I do ti? Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.
    If you don't like iPhoto don't use it. It's not complusory. You can recover photos and videos from your phone with Image Capture (in the Applications Folder)

    Partner and I went to store yesterday so he could apply for the Business MC and PG it... after 45 minutes (yes 45 minutes at the counter!) 30 of which the rep was on the phone with credit... they came back a few times but would not talk to us, and all of a sudden told the rep denied! even the rep was like umm the customer is right here would you like to talk to them and she said no, but i said yes, so the rep was like well the customer is here and would like to talk to you."credit rep" gets on phone and I said is this a verification issue because that is common with our apps and she said NO, and a letter will come to you in 7-10 days. she was rude and wouldn't say anything more so i just hung up.called little bit later to credit and he said it was denied but i can take a second look, then said no looks like it is declined and will stay.I was like I don't' get it at all... I know each of your cards have different underwriting but we just opened a $20k Lowes card, how can we go from $20k with one retailer to not even $500 store card with this retailer with PG.He said it's possible blah blah but let me look at something, I want to review to satisfy you.Comes back less than minute later saying you need to call this number which is verification (BINGO, what i said from beginning!)Called them this morning, they sent a text message with code and verified some address stuff and PASSEDBack over to credit (verification lady told me it was approved for $2k)get to credit and she keeps putting me on hold, asks a couple things, and more holds... says she is just trying to get to a decision... You've indicated that  you've done a factory reset. Can you walk me through the steps you took to get there? Also, after the factory reset, how long before this message indicator appeared again? Was it before or after you restored all your personal data?

    How do you get records of all your texts? Everyone tells me to go to text usage for my number but it does not show up. Any ideas? I need them like now

    I've heard your cry for help and I am here to assist. Are you looking just for the numbers that you've texted and received texts from? Or are you looking for the actual text message conversation?
    If you are just looking for the numbers that you've texted and received texts from you can retreive that information through My Verizon. Once you are signed in as the account owner you would click on "view my usage" under Manage My Account. From there you can click on Breakdown of Recent Activity and from there you can view the messaging log for your line.
    If you are looking for previous text messages that may have been deleted. That cannot be retreived through My Verizon.
    Verizon Wireless is only able to provide an average of the last 3-5 days of content, but never more than ten days from the date and time the message is delivered.  Only messages that are received may be available. We also must receive a message with your consent and have it notarized and submitted by an attorney or law enforcement official.  You can have those documents faxed to (847) 706-7276.
