I just updated our mac book to Maverick, and when I plug in our phones or iPad it doesn't know they are there! Help
Help!!! I can't get the MacBook to recognize the USB cord for the phones/iPad... We just updated to Maverick. Is there something else that I have to do??

To restore the Back button to your Safari Toolbar, you can go to the View menu and select Customize Toolbar. Drag the Back/Forward button to the actual toolbar. See this article -

Hello, Im new to this website. Im having issues with my Macbook. I have the old 2009 model Macbook and it is our schools macbook. The school just upgraded these MacBooks to OSX Mavericks and when i try to open Minecraft it won't let me. It says no jdk installed. I also try to install Java SE runtime but half way through the Software Update it says cant download software because of network problem but I'm connected to the internet and i can browse stuff just fine. Can any one help with my problems. P.S. I don't know the administrator password or stuff like that. And yes we are allowed to play games and stuff on these laptops but only at home not at school so don't tell me i need to focus on school and not games.
Since you updated the operating system, it is probably Minecraft is missing certain files that ware remove or are not longer comparable with the new version of the OSX. what I recommend, is to check is there is an update for Minecraft and install that. If there is not update available, probably the best thing will be reinstalling Minecraft. Hope this will help you.

I just factory restored my iPod 5 touch and when I plug it into iTunes to back it up, iTunes stops responding and closes. This only occurs when the iPod is plugged in, when it isn't, iTunes works fine. I am using Windows 8 and iTunes is updated (as of this posting). Any suggestions on getting around this? Thank you.
Also, when I put it through the Windows diagnostic, it lists an "incompatible program" WHILE my iPod is plugged in.

I'm using LR5.7 on a Mac Mini running Mavericks and when I attempt to import a folder of new RAW photos from my external drive into my catalog instead of seeing a preview of each thumbnail photo I see the following message displayed: "Preview Unavailable for this file." If I highlight any other folder of photos the previews are all there. What is the likely reason for these previews being unavailable? JohnnyCam
What camera took these RAW photos?
Did you use any Nikon software to transfer the photos to your computer's hard disk? -

I just bought a philips fidelio docking speaker and when I plug my iPod touch 4th gen it charges but dosent play music through the speaker.
Does Phillips say it will work with a 4G iPod with 6.1.5?

I just updated to OS 10.9.1 and now my e-mail messages (I use gmail) only sit in my outbox. Has anyone solved this problem?
Yes closing Mail and reopening it does then allow the message to go out but I can clearly see that is going to be rather difficult with sending abut 20-30 emails a day! One observation is that it seems to happen more often with attachments.

i am missing music from my computer and iphone - i plugged in my phone earlier this week to download purchased music. when i looked at my phone it updated all information on my phone but my music was missing along with apps - i have no music at all and only the very recent songs i purchased are on my computer in my itunes account - i cannot find my previously purchased songs.
You'll have to update your OS on your Macbook.

i just upgraded my pc to windows 7 and itunes to 10.4.1, but i can't see the menu items at the top left of itunes. they are there, because if i move my mouse over the area where they should be, i see and can select from the drop down menus. this problem also affects my music library; i cannot see the individual song names/artists/etc, but if i double click on the blank line it does play the song. the app library and video library seem OK, only the music library is a problem. also, when i connect my iphone, it recognizes it, but the main screen for my device has no words on it, just a picture of the phone.
Hi, Sanjiv - My son fixed this problem for me by showing me that in addition to the visible volume slider at the top left of the iTunes window you also need to pull down the blue airplay menu right alongside that volume slider (the little blue box with the triangle). When you pull down that menu you will see volume settings for "computer" which controls the built-in speakers, plus a list of the other external speakers you may have set up using Airport. When I did that I saw that the volume on "computer" was right down at zero levl even though the main iTunes slider was at full level. When I selected the "computer" under "single" or "multiple" options and adjusted the volume it came back up. It worked for me, I hope it solves your issue too. Best, John.

I have bought this mac book pro about a week ago and I want to instal the new mavericks X software from mac, I clicked on Download and it instanly said that it couldn't be instaled on this coputer... I have two doubts about why it doesnt instal, its already on it, or im doing it wrong.

(Aug. 21, 2014)I just updated to OS-X Maverick 10.9.4, and now I get a guest user option at login. I never saw this before and didn't change any settings.
Could I have been hacked?Could be two reasons
1.Have you turned on Find My Mac? Guest user is enabled if you have as a trap for the thief.
2. Check System preferences> Users and Groups. Is there a guest user here? If so uncheck the Allow guests to log into this computer.

Planning to update my mac mini to new mavericks operating system this week, but am concerned about my old, but loved, ipad. The ipad is the original ipad that I sync with the photos and music on my mac mini. Ipad is running ios 5.1.1. Anyone know of any reason I should be concerned before I make the jump to mavericks? iTunes 11.1.3 (which is the most recent iTunes version) works without any problem with the 1st generation iPad and with iOS 5.1.1. Moreover, if you have got your software updated, you are already using this iTunes version, so nothing will happen after upgrading to OS X Mavericks.

I have a Macbook Pro from 2007 and run Mac OS Lion. Today it froze and when I tried to restart after log in it just freezes and does not open? Can anybody help?
GunillaFirst thing to try, reboot from the Mac OS X install disk that came with your machine. When it starts up, select your language, then choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard drive in the list and then, in the First Aid tab, click Repair Disk (NOT Repair Disk Permissions). If there were problems that were repaired, try rebooting again and see if the problem is gone.
Alternately, if you have upgraded that machine to Lion (Mac OS X 10.7), you can hold down command-R at startup to enter recovery mode, and then open Disk Utility from there and do the same repairs.
Let us know what the results are for further assistance, if the problems continue after repairing.
