I just upgraded my Internet service to 12 MPS. It doesn't appear to work any faster than the 3MPS I had before. The AT&T guy said it may be the computer rather than the connection. I have an iMac intel core 2 duo, running OS 10.5.8. It has 1 GB of memory. I have plenty of memory left. Is there something I can check on the computer to see if it's capable of running faster with this new Internet upgrade?
You certainly are going to see improvements if you download big files, i.e. Apple updates, or watching trailers also at higher resolution.
You won't see much difference if you use peer to peer download.

Even when I am using Safari or Firefox the spinning wheel of lines especially for face book just keeps spinning and it takes forever to load my pages. It was faster than this before I upgraded my internet service. I Check the speeds and those are fine (using a internet speed test). I have emptied all of my caches, cleaned my Mac with (Clean My Mac), I've taken out all old files, pictures, cleared my widgits, and I don't know what else to do. A 2003 iMac cannot support Snow Leopard 10.6; you'd need an Intel processor and that cannot be retrofitted to your Mac. What does "About this Mac" in your Apple menu say for your processor speed? What does it say about how much RAM you have?
If the processor is 1ghz or faster, you can run OS 10.5; otherwise, you are maxed out at 10.4.11.
Also, are you running any commercial ("pay for") anti-virus or security software? They are notorious for slowing most Macs to a fraction of their speed potential.
A too-full hard drive can drag down performance, especially if you don't have a lot of physical RAM installed. If you single-click your hard drive icon and then do command i, you'll see the disk usage. Looks like this:
The value for "Used" should be no more than about 90 percent of "Capacity." In the example image, that drive has about 34 percent of its space used and 66 percent free--more than enough. Please post what you see for your Capacity and Used numbers
There are a few more things we might check but this is a good start.

I recently upgraded my internet service with Comcast for faster internet. When I use an ethernet connection I get 50 MB download speed....when I use the wireless connection I get 10-20 MB speed. I have an airport extreme...3-4 years old. Why is the speed so different and are there settings I can change to increase the wireless speed?
If your supposed to be getting 20 Mb/s down via your ISP and both Mac's are not getting that on the SpeedTest, then obviously your router appears to be the cause.
Connect one Mac directly to the ISP's modem, power off/wait 30 seconds/then power on, then power on the Mac. The ISP will connect directly to the Mac, then run a SpeedTest.
Then repeat the same for the other Mac. If both Mac's have a problem then it's possibly the ISP, the modem, your lines to them or on your property, or both Mac's are messed up.
You'll have to keep searching for the cause. Call your ISP and ask then to run a test to see if your getting your 20 Mb/s to your modem, that should clear part of the problem.

Hello. I have just built a website using iWeb but cannot upload it. I curently have the 25gb account. There doesn't appear to be any facility here for the net. Am I correct in thinking I need an upgrade, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks
iCloud does not provide website hosting. You will need to find another website hosting service - there are many to choose from - and upload your site there. How you do this depends on what version of iWeb you have.
In order to upload your existing site in iWeb '09 and above:
Click on the name of the site in the sidebar: the publishing settings pane will open. Set 'Publish to' to 'FTP'. Enter the name of the site and a contact address (if desired).
In the 'FTP Server Settings' section you will need to know the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. Your site will be published in a folder with its name at root level of the server, with an index.html file at root level (which will overwrite any index.html file which may be there already). The 'Directory/Path' field may need to include a path such as '/webspace/' or 'ht_docs/' - this is dependent on your hosting service and they should tell you this. If you want to publish within a folder you can add that to the path.
You can then click the 'Test connection' button so that iWeb can check that it can get access to your server space. You should enter the URL of the site in the 'URL' field so that rss feeds and internal links have the correct address.
To publish using an earlier version of iWeb:
From the File menu choose 'Publish to a folder'. You should create a folder somewhere convenient specifically for this and choose it when publishing to a folder: this folder should not contain anything else.
You now need an FTP program (FTP is the 'protocol' used for uploading) to upload the contents of the folder to your server.Cyberduck is free (donation requested): Transmit is $34 but I think better. You will need the server address (your hosting service can tell you that), and your username and password for that service. You can drag the contents of your folder to your webspace, or create a folder there and drag the contents to that if you prefer.
Some facilities that iWeb provided when hosted on MobileMe will not work on other servers: comments on weblogs and photos, password-protecting your site (some hosts may provide this), searching in the weblog, and a hits counter (again, some hosts can provide code for this). Slideshows in iWeb will work on other hosts than MobileMe (they use different code when FTPing which doesn't depend on scripts hosted on MobileMe as the MobileMe version does); however there is an issue with the 'buttons' which control the slideshow which are images hosted on me.com - these depend on images which used to be hosted on MobileMe. I just upgraded to Photoshop cs6 so that my new camera (Nikon D7100) would work in Camera Raw (I was told that the Camera Raw update 8.3, which is available for CS6, included this camera). However, it will not download from the "Update" option in CS6. I have tried over 10 times - it just says update is not working. and I cannot find an alternate way of downloading this file. So I still can use my camera, even thought I paid to upgrade. HELP please.
What OS do you have? You say you have explained what you had (computer/opsys) but I honestly don't see it here. If you had mentioned that my advice would have been different; I believe you can only upgrade as far as Camera Raw 8.3 on an older Windows system. There is more information here (look specifically for the "Revert to 8.3 ..." titles).

What you've done/written in your last post confuses things further, unfortunately. Photoshop 13.1 is strictly a Creative Cloud version. The highest you can go is Photoshop CS6 13.0.1.3 with perpetual license.
And as far as I can recall, that version can work on Windows back to XP:

I don't think you're out of luck, but you seem to be leaping into doing things without having the full story, and are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.
Here's what I suggest you try:
1. Remove Photoshop entirely with the Creative Suite Removal Tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
2. Install Photoshop CS6 from your original media or from here:
Download CS6 products
3. Update the application using its own Help - Updates process. That really should get you the latest Camera Raw version that will work. If that does not bring you a Camera Raw that works with your Nikon, use the "Revert to 8.3" instructions above.

i) From LR5.5, when I click edit with "Photoshop CC 2014" - it opens PS CC 2014 but doesn;t open the image
ii) Whenever I try and use Nik Viveza it crashes PS CC 2014 when applying the changes from viveza. I've checked that I have the latest version of Nik software. It was working fine PS CC
I'm now going back to CC until these can be resolved.

ChrisI was going to reply that I have multiple monitors and have had zero problems with Viveza used with PS CC 2014. Then I realized two things. One I didn't know if the OP was on windows or the Mac and, two, if the Mac was it a Big Cat or geographic system. The display characteristics differ greatly between the three systems.
It sure would be nice to have a one line signature specifying the poster's system available for use on this board.

I'm having the exact same problem. It does not seem to be a settings issue but rather some sort of "problem" with mac mail. My Exchange provider was able to setup my mailbox on a test machine running Mavericks and everything pulled in fine, however I cannot duplicate on my upgraded system.
I was able to get rebuild my mailbox and get the older messages within my Exchange inbox, however none of my folders and old messages outside of the Inbox are downloading/synching.
**NOTE** I contacted Apple SUpport and they told me to call my email provider. I called my email provider which did as described above and they don't see a problem. SO as suspected it has something to do with the Mavericks update but I'm not sure Apple is willing to help. I might try contacting them one more time and see. -

You cannot go back to an earlier version of iOS.
If you are having Wi-Fi problems I suggest going to some location that offered free Wi-Fi. Your library or a Starbucks perhaps. Does your iPad connect there and work well?
If your iPad works well there you can eliminate the iPad and it's iOS as the cause of your problem.
If your iPad still acts up when connecting to the other Wi-Fi sources I'd suggest a visit to an Apple store to help discover the problem. Be sure to make an appointment prior to going to the Apple store. -

-Make sure that the Internet connection is good. If the update process is interrupted it might be due to loss of Internet connection.
-Try using another USB cable and usb port in your computer.
-Try using another PC.
-Temporary disable any firewalls and or antivirus software.
-Start your PC in “Safe mode with networking” mode. This is done by pressing F8 during PC boot. When Windows is started in safe mode, try taking the update again. -
