I keep updating Firefox on my Mac OSx 10.6.8 and each time I think that I've updated I click on Firefox and it still says I do not have the updated version. I've rebooted and tried again to no avail. What I'm I doing wrong?

I've gone to the link and downloaded the up to date Firefox. Drag Icon into Applications and then to dock but it still remains a message that I'm not working with the most up to date version

You may see that erroneous update message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. It appears that page is no longer being maintained by Google. You appear to have the latest Firefox version.
'''If you want the Google search page as your home page,''' change your home page to '''''about:home''''' (a new, updated version of the old Google/Firefox home page is now built-in to Firefox).

  • I have updated Firefox to 8.0.1 but the main screen still says " You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!" What is the problem?

I downloaded Firefox Setup 8.0.1.exe from the website to my desktop and opened it as an administrator. The available choice (once opened) was to upgrade. When the process was complete my version of Firefox was identified as 8.0.1 but the main screen still said - "You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!"

This - http://www.google.com/firefox - is the old Firefox Start Page used by the Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox, I don't think it is being maintained.
Starting with the Firefox 4 version, Firefox is using a "local" Start Page with the address of '''about:home'''. It looks similar to the old Start Page, but it isn't exactly the same.

    any help would be great!

In iTunes select Help > About to see what version is installed.
What Operating System is installed on the computer? XP? Vista? 7? 8? OS X?

  • I've downloaded the upgrade and indicated "run"but when I open firefox it says I do not have the latest version. What do I do.

my question just about says it all. DOn't know what else you want. I have a Windows Vista and have been using FIrefox for at least 4 yeas.

Hi lonepinemax, it's good you have options! Firefox 22 doesn't run plugins where the page sets them to '''hidden="true"'''. I don't know whether there is any chance of that changing, so hopefully the site will update soon.

  • My Home pg. says I'm not using the latest version-- Firefox says I am.

Mozilla Firefox is my Home pg/browser. It says I'm not using the latest version. But when I go to the Firefox pg to download the latest version, they say I'm updated ok. My computer's list of programs also says I'm using version 9.0. After downloading Mozilla 5 + times, my home pg still says I'm not on the latest version. Is it because the OS is Windows 7 starter?

    Hi deeweev,
You may see that message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. That page is no longer being maintained by Google.
You should try changing your home page to:
    about:home
If you don't know how to change the home page, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].
    Hopefully this helps

  • I have updated my firefox version but it keeps on telling me that I do not have the latest version, even though I just updated it.

On the homepage of firefox it sayd that I do not have the latest version of firefox. So i desidet to update it, but after that it kept on telling me that I do not have the latest version. I am sure that I have the latest version because I just updated it. Is it possible that the update did not work or is just an advertisement firefox shows to everyone? Hopefully you can provide me an answer, which would be helpful.
Computer's operating system: vista (I do not know whether this is relevant)

The machine could be repaired by a company that does circuit board re-soldering, since it is possible a heat-flex solder break on the main board may have caused either the processor or graphics chips to lose connection and that could manifest itself in a few somewhat documented ways.
There is an on-board RAM chip that may also have something to do with a kernel panic, if it no longer is functioning correctly; that is the non-removable one soldered on the board you never usually worry about.
Companies such as powerbookmedic, wegenermedia, and others can take in portable macs of vintage or newer (contact them for details on what they do, and how they accept work orders) for repair and can fix most anything; and have a parts inventory. Modern repair workstations allow the equipped service company to fix complex issues and they do troubleshooting. Sometimes the cost is less than a replacement logic board.
The links above may help isolate the general cause of a kernel panic. There are other articles in Support database including a deeper look into them.

Usually the issue is caused by hardware, especially if there is an indication of machine failure in the crash log or other screen image text.
A working last model MacBook (mid-2010) would be a better 'first mac' to have.
Hopefully you can sort it out.
If not, there likely are fair parts in it.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • I have Firefox 8.0.1 on my Windows XP PC. On my Firefox opening page I still get a warning that I do not have the latest version of Firefox. Which is the latest version for me and from where do I download it?

On the opening page of Firefox, I am constantly reminded (and sometimes warned) that I do not have the latest version of Firefox. Yet, when I click for upgrade, I start getting a download of the same version 8.0.1 which I am already running.

This - http://www.google.com/firefox - is the old Firefox Start Page used by the Firefox 3.6 and earlier versions of Firefox, I don't think it is being maintained.

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
You can force Firefox to create a new default profile if you remove the profiles.ini file.

You can find that file here:

  • Need help: it keeps saying I'm not installing the latest version.

I'm kinda a computer noob so I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm the administrator of my computer. Whenever I try to download the latest version of flash at the end of the download it keeps saying that I'm not downloading the latest version (which I am) and it refrains from being installed on my computer. Can someone please help me?

the exact message I'm getting is
    Adobe Flash Player ActiveX Setup:
The version of Adobe Flash Player ActiveX that you are trying to instal is not the most current version
Please visit http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer to obtain the latest most secure version.
When I first go to download the flash player a thing called adobe download manager pops up, before it starts downloading it says it could not download mcafee sucurity scan, then the download bar for adobe flash player 10 fills up to100% then it says instalation complete, then I click on close download manager.
Then it takes me to another page and then at the top of the screen text pops up saying "This website want to instal the following add-on: 'adobe Flash Player Installer' "from adobe Systems incorportated" click to install if you trust this site" Then I click to install it. Then a window pops up and says windows needs your permission to continue then I click accept, then another window pops up and it says internet explorer add on instaler and it says "do you want to install the add on Adobe Download manager" then I click yes, then it brings me to the message I wrote at the top of this post: the not the most current version thing.
I never installed flash player 10.1 beta at any point in time
I went to the help section of the website but it couldn't help me.
The web browser I'm using is Internet Explorer.
    My vista is 64 bit

  • Cannot open grooveshark due to a supposed problem loading flash. (I have the latest version of both (Mozilla and Flash)

Everything with firefox works ok except Grooveshark. An error message appears saying: We had problems loading flash, you might have any blocker etc etc.
I don´t have any blocker and as a matter of fact i have the latest versions for both mozilla and flash. Neither version of flash test nor reinstallation process nor checking add ons or firewall settings solved my problem.
    Thanks for the attention. Regards

To double-check your Flash permissions for the site, you can click the globe or padlock icon to the left of the address, click More Information, then click the Permissions tab. The "Activate Plugins" section would be the one to check.
I understand you have checked your add-ons, but in case there is an unexpected interaction, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode just to confirm that extensions are not the problem? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
''Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run''
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).
    Any difference?

  • Why, when I open Firefox 9.01 do I get a message that I do not have the latest version when Help-About Firefox says I do?

    There are/were three problems:
'''1.''' Why, when I open Firefox 9.01 do I get a message that I do not have the latest version when '''Help>About''' Firefox says I do?
'''2.''' Also, with the 8.xx version, I was unable to open in a new window with a right click until I upgraded to 9.01. (Old problem now, but I am curious.)
'''3.''' When I tried to uninstall the older version the uninstaller told me that I had to close the open version, but it was closed according to my taskbar. I also have this problem with Thunderbird.

    1. You are using the latest version which is Firefox 9.0.1
From your description it sounds as if you may still have the old http://www.google.com/firefox Firefox start page hosted by Google as your homepage. This old default homepage is no longer used as '''about:home''' has been in use since Firefox 4.0
Either ignore the message, change homepage to '''about:home''', change it to another page or leave blank.

  • HT4743 I just purchased an iTunes TV show and it successfully downloaded. It is now saying that I do not have the proper version of QuickTime on this version of iTunes (10.6.3). How can a show I purchased be incompatible with the latest version of iTunes?

I just purchased an iTunes TV show and it successfully downloaded. It is now saying that I do not have the proper version of QuickTime on this version of iTunes (10.6.3).
How can a show I purchased be incompatible with the latest version of iTunes?
I want a refund, but I can't even figure out how to request one through support. Super frustrated and long time Apple customer.

After a day of trying, both iTunes and my Apple TV are telling me that the episodes of Scooby Doo I purchased are incompatible due to QuickTime. I still don't understand how I purchased something from iTunes that doesn't work with iTunes.
the exact error I receive when I try to play an episode is the following:
"This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes."
    Any advice would be great!

    HI,
I got this problem : when i want to download the new version of iPhoto, i get this message : You can not update this software since you do not have the main version. What should i do ?
IPhoto was already on my MacBook Pro when i bought it.
    Thank you for your help
    Thierry

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Open App Store > Purchases, and see if iPhoto app is listed. If not, unhide it > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928 Apart from that, check that iPhoto is in Applications folder. If not, put it in this folder.
If nothing works, remove iPhoto, open App Store > Purchases, and install iPhoto free of charge
