I like the separate save dialogs, however ...

... here's what's needed;
I always work in EV & create my .wav file with CD tracks marked out & save it with the "save extra non audio information" check box checked so they are there next time I need to open it.
At the end of the editing just before I save the file the last time, I create the .mp3 files with "save copy as" and the "save extra non audio information" check box un-checked. The reason why I turn off the "save extra non audio information" is because some mp3 players interpret the track markers / cues whatever as sound, and a loud pop or glitch sound occurs when passing over the marker.
However, if I don't go back into one of the dialogs and reselect the check box just before the last save, all the track markers are lost
or if I create the .mp3 files last, then the next time I go to save a file it wants to save it as .mp3 rather than .wav which becomes a pain to reset it for every save, save as, dialog
I don't know which is worse really, losing all the track markers or distributing files that might pop in some mp3 players or losing a 44,100 16 bit stereo CD ready file to a 48Kbps 22,050 16-bit mono file that sounds like crap when played
separating the dialogs one step further than they already are
ie "save as" "save copy as" & "save"
if "save as" could have the "save extra non audio information" check box checked
and "save copy as" could have the "save extra non audio information" check box un-checked without affecting the other
the next time I save using the original format it should either ask to if I want to recheck the box or leave it checked by default and only the "save copy as" remains unchecked until I recheck it
I hope it's clear enough
I'm still using V2.0 & waiting on the V3.0 Upgrade
I apologize if this is already changed in V3.0
THX

I just looked in AA2 Preferences and I didn't see any "Default Save As Format" under any of the tabs
one more thing to add to the save dialogs to be separated in function is the "Save Selection" I rarely ever need the "Save Extra Non Audio Information" in that Save dialog
but if I turn it off in there and forget to turn it back on before saving the file again all of the track markers disappear from the file which kinda sucks when I've spent close to ½ and hour aligning them to exact locations throughout the file.
here's one way to get pops in every after every track
take a single file with say 10 or so tracks in it
save all the tracks out with "Save Selection" and the "Save Extra Non Audio Information" box checked
play all those files in succession in an mp3 player that pops on non audio, they pop every time
I had a Sony phone that using the hands free set played .mp3 files and I loaded it with tunes
which I promptly had to replace with files that were created with no "extra non audio info" because I got tired of the popping

  • Dowloading HTML page with picture like the IE save as function

    Hi everyone,
I would like to download a HTML page entirely ( path, pictures... ) like the IE save as function.
    Is it possible ?
    thanx

    It is.
However doing so will be a big task. You have to write a htmlparser (I did) which checks all possible options for writing html. I based mine on the w3c standard for html 4.01. Takes a while till you get through everything. Don't ask me for it, I'm in the middle of an update to make it sure it has a bit of a descent structure.
Then you must know all attributes which can possibly contain a link to an image. Find out if this link is not an url with a protocol. Also find out if the link is not something like a cgi. And so on for more options.
You can look on the net for some parser but I didn't find one. There is of course Html Tidy but this one reads the htmlcode and makes a valid html document from it which is almost never the same as you wanted it to be. For crappy html code this can result in the removal of a lot of your elements.

  • Please use the Vista save dialogs on Windows

You, adobe employees use Windows, right? Don't you use the 'Favorites' freature in Windows explorers? It helps you to access specified locations you want quickly and also is very handy. It is now a standard form on Windows (also on Mac).
Why didn't you include the feature on 'save' dialogs in PS?
Everytime I save something, I have to click, double click, double click, double click, double click, double click, double click, double click, double click, double click, double click, and click the 'Ok' button to complete just a single part of a task.
All Windows applications I use have Favorites section on save dialogs, and I wish you to add it on your product's save dialogs.
Please let's be smarter. I wish you do something quickly for that.
    Thanks.

You're right. It's not necessary for people who doesn't need it. However there are peoples who use it usefully and often. Maybe Microsoft wants that it can be good for users since 6 years ago when they implement it into Windows Vista. And so did Apple for their own.
Here is a picture I scraped from my pc. As seen in below, it gives you the exactly same way like Adobe's. You can expand the Favorites node whenever you want to access your favorite locations. Also the expanding state will be preserved.

  • Presenter forces permanentely the file save dialog even for unchanged documents

Presenter permanentely forces the "Do you want to save the changes ..." file save dialog to appear even for unchanged documents when I try to close it.
To confirm the saving all times is not the solution because then I will loose the file's time/date stamp for the last real change.
Not confirming the saving can be risky in case of any changes to the document which I am not aware anymore for that moment.
Especially in case of having multiple documents open - this drives me really crazy.
Deactivating the Adobe Presenter Add-in would solve the issue - so it is a problem related to Adobe Presenter (and not related to Powerpoint).
    I am using:
    Adobe Presenter 9.0.2
    Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010
    Windows 7, 64 bit, Service Pack 1
    Thanks for your help
    Stefan

The easiest way to solve the problem is to temporarily deactivate Adobe Presenter when you don't need it.
In PowerPoint, go to File / Options / Add-Ins, select "COM Add-Ins" at the bottom of the window and click "Go".
Then un-check the Adobe Presenter PowerPoint COM AddIn:
You can easily reverse the process when you next need to use Presenter.

  • What's with the image Save dialog in CS6?

Being aware that this is a slightly distempered question: exactly whose bright idea was it to replace the wasn't-broken-so-why-fix-it Save for Web dialog, which looked, felt and workd the same as in Photoshop, with the dummy version in CS6? It isn't even "mostly harmless" -- it seriously gets in the way of getting work done.
The Photoshop team didn't change the SfW dialog, so why did the DW team decide to tear up the memo that says "Suite point products should maintain consistent UX."?
Change for the sake of change is never a good idea. Change that removes needed functionality is a bad idea. A bad change that also directly contradicts the entire philosophy of the Creative Suite is an offense, the penalty for which should be exile of the guilty UX and engineering personnel to an island with no electric supply, no phone lines, no internet connection of any kind, somewhere off the southern coast of Tierra del Fuego, for one complete product cycle. Without parole.

In several workflows, I maintain native PSDs and insert those into web pages both for speed and ease of update via "Edit Original" and "Update from Original."
DW CS6 has almost no functionality in its new SfW dialog, just a list of presets that aren't adaptable and are in most cases unsuitable. In order to properly optimize an image, instead of using DW CS4 thru CS5.5 image converter I have to either a) SfW out of Photoshop, losing the "Update from Original" functionality in DW, or b) switch to CS5.5 so I can use its dialog (which was essentially the same as Photoshop's SfW). Both of these add time to the process. Multiply by 40 to 50 Photoshop composites and you're talking a serious waste of billable time. I don't charge by the hour.

  • How do you customise the finder "save as" dialog box?

    Hi
I get a lot of email with attachments that I need to work on - word documents and powerpoint slides mainly.
I am still running Snow Leopard and I think Finder is very frustrating. Has it been improved in this aspect in Mountain Lion?
Firstly, if I look at the email and click the "save" box next to the attachment, it immediately puts the attachment in the download folder. I dont want that. I want to be given a dialog box giving me options where to save the file in my heirachy of folders that I have set up by client and project. Sending it to the download folder is a naff default, but I cannot find a way to change this default?
Secondly, if i scroll down to the bottom of the email to see the attached file, and then right click to "save as", I get a dialog that is devoid of all the customisation options I have chosen for the standard finder view. For examply, I cannot get the "path" to be displayed as part of the "save as" dialog box.
This is all pretty fundamental stuff, and Windows have been able to offer much better customisation and default setting in Windows Explorer for years. WHy is OSX so far behind in this aspect?
    Is Lion better?
Do I have to fork out an additional $35 for each of my 3 macs to buy "Default Folder" just to get something that should be basic workflow management within the OSX
    Am I missing something?

    Thanks Jeffry
Yes I am using the expanded save dialog.
Thanks for pointing out how to change the default save location away from the downloads folder.
What I really want, though, is for when I press the "save" button next to an attachment in the email, then I want to be given the choice of where to save it, and easy ways of navigating to my recent folders, favourite folders etc. Each file I save will need to go to a folder dependent upon which client it is, so just saving then all by default into "Documents" for example, means that after saving them, I then need to go and move them to the correct location.
How to I get to have a choice if where to save whenever I press the SAVE button

  • Open/Save Dialoge Box covers the whole screen - CS3/Vista

    Hi,
I´m using Photoshop CS3 on Windows Vista and I have the following problem:
I can´t reduce the open/save dialoge box in Photoshop CS3 as I could in earlier versions, which I find very inconvenient.
It stretches over the whole screen and there seems to be no way of reducing it. There are handles at the corners but they don´t work.
Is this normal in CS3 or could it be just a wrong setting in Windows?
I hope somebody can help me on this, thank you so much!
    Best regards,
    Mike

Is this normal in CS3 or could it be just a wrong setting in Windows?
No, it's not normal. There are two things I can think of:
    - the dialog repositioning feature of your graphics card is not working properly (NVidia Desktop etc.)
    - you resized the dialog in another program and now the huge size has become the system default
In both cases the solution should be pretty obvious - either adjust the settings/ turn off the graphics card's special features or resize the dialog back in the program it was turned huge in the fi8rst place. For the latter, also checking your more general folder view options as well as manually deleting desktop.ini files may offer a way out.

  • Custom Save Dialog and Logic in Outlook 2013 Add in

I'm creating an addin for outlook 2013. I've got it all setup and such but I'm not sure how to achieve my objective. My boss wants a button on a ribbon that is shown during compose, read, and similar methods and either opens a save dialog or just
saves it automatically without the dialog. The catch is that I want to add custom actions for this special save button, where it will rename the file and save it in a specific folder. All based on the sender's domain and address, the date, whether there are
attachments, and such. Either it will save the attachments as well or I could have a separate button to do the same with any attachments; archiving them and renaming them a specific way based on date, file type, sender, etc.
How can I implement this? I assume it's in the method showMessage_Click. Which leads me to another question, what is the showMessage_Click even from? It is what causes my messagebox to pop up when you click the button, but assuming I want a save
dialog or something else rather than a messagebox, do I still use showMessage_Click or is there another XXX_Click method to use for when clicking the button that would be more appropriate for my goals.
Also is there a list somewhere showing all of these different event methods?
Thanks for any help and guidance you can offer.

    Hello,
It looks like you need to replace the standard SaveAs dialog with your own. To get this implemented you may repurpose the Save buttons on the ribbon, so each time the user clicks to save the item your custom dialog window is displayed. See Temporarily
Repurpose Commands on the Office Fluent Ribbon for more information.
If you need to implement this as a separate feature - just add custom controls to the Ribbon UI (aka Fluent UI). See Walkthrough: Creating a Custom Tab
by Using the Ribbon Designer to get started quickly.

  • File Save Dialog does not show web folders

    Hi.
My system is SAP ECC 6.0. From custom abap program, I need to be able to navigate to a sharepoint folder and save a file to it. I call METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>file_save_dialog for this. I have already mapped/added the SharePoint site (ex. http://abc/xyz/) to My Network Places. However, when I run my program, the File Save Dialog does not show the web folders in the said sharepoint site. Any clue to what I'm missing here? In WiinExplorer, I have no issue navigating/accessing the web folders.
    Thanks in advance.

    um, yeah.
Should not need the project manager simply to see new files added to a directory in a Open/Save dialog window since last opening the app.
I did a scan, a extended scan, opened all the little turn down arrows of the
full path to the directory I knew there to be the new files and yes, Logic
shows them there in the "Project manager".
BUT Logic still does not show the files in the Open/Save dialog windows.
This is strange because even simple app like TextEdit can show
new files in it's Open/Save dialog function windows without the need of
    a project manager.

  • File Save dialog box not showing correct file name while saving file

    hi
Currently, after the Submit button is hit, the File Save dialog box is displayed. If the user saves the file and then opens it then the output appears correct however if the user chooses to open the file without saving on the local machine then the correct viewer is not used to display the file. The name of the file is defaulted as qotSCopPrint.jsp and the default file viewer for jsp files is chosen to view the file. The format of the file is obviously not text (it is either pdf or rtf) so the output shows binary characters.

  • Open/Save Dialog, 9 min. Beachball Freeze

I am running OS 10.10.2 on a March 2009 iMac with 8GB RAM and 1TB HD.
PROBLEM: While working in Illustrator 18 (CC 2014), if I choose File > Open, the Open dialog appears but I get the spinning beachball for 9 minutes before file contents appear. I don't have the same problem in Photoshop or any other app.  But after Googling, I see that a number of people have posted similar Console Log messages (see below) when using in a variety of apps in Yosemite, even in Apple's own Mail app.  This tells me the root problem may not be specific to Illustrator, even though it only affects Illustrator in my case currently.
    WHAT I TRIED:
    1) Moved all Adobe Illustrator related PLISTS and preference files and folders to the Desktop and then launched Illustrator.  I saw Illustrator rebuild new prefs files and all settings reverted back to stock.  This proves my moving of the prefs to the Desktop was successful to cause a rebuild of new prefs and PLISTS. Even so, the BeachBall freeze appeared when I did a File > Open.
    2) Rebooted with SHIFT held down (Safe Mode).  But the beachball problem remains.
    3) Disconnected all USB devices except keyboard/mouse, and turned off WiFi and BlueTooth, and even yanked my Ethernet cable.  I also turned off Time Machine and Default Folder.  But the problem remains, even through a reboot.
    4) I removed DropBox and GoogleDrive and I closed all apps other than Illustrator, but to no avail.
    5) Tried a Guest User, but that doesn't work with Adobe Apps.  Ditto for a Standard user.  You get an error dialog when you try to launch Adobe apps with that kind of user.  So I then created an Admin user.  Illustrator's Open dialog box displays files perfectly, as normal!  A NEW ADMIN USER FIXES THE PROBLEM!
So a new Admin user fixes the beachball problem in the Open dialog, but for my normal Admin user there's the 9 min. beachball problem.  And yet, SAFE MODE doesn't fix the problem while in my normal User.  And neither does deleting Illustrator prefs.  So it's clear there's still something lurking in my primary user account that is absent in the new Admin user account.  But what?  And how can I find it?  (Migrating everything to a new User account is no easy task.)

I get the exact same set of messages that you see above every time I try to reproduce the problem, simply by doing a File > Open in Illustrator.
I assume AFP is Apple File Protocol?  But what "server" is it trying so desperately in vain to "Get"?  And why is a DNS resolver being used?
Anyway, as you can see from the Console log above, the beachball in the Open/Save dialog in Illustrator goes away after 534 seconds (about 9 min.).  But it reappears each time I try to go to a new folder on my HD within that Open dialog.  Each time takes exactly 534 seconds each time for the stupid beachball to go away when changing folders in the Open dialog.
This beachball freeze (for 9 min.) in Illustrator's Open dialog occurred every once and a while over the last several weeks, but now it consistently happens.  And no, I've not installed any new software on my iMac other than Yosemite updates.
Once again, I would prefer to fix the root problem in my primary user account rather than migrate to a New User even though I now know a new Admin user account resolves the problem.
    Please help.

With regard to my cry for help...
    Pretty please?
Here are links to other apps which show the same Console Log messages that I am seeing, proving this is not an issue exclusive to a single app:
    Vmware & OS 10.10.2
    Pertaining to networked HD's
    Shared Mac on a Network
Prevents Time Capsule access and kills Time Machine too
OS 10.10 & Time Capsule woes
    OS 10.9.2 & NAS woes
    Yosemite & Time Capsule woes
    iPhoto woes after Migration
    More Time Capsule woes
Time Machine woes from Germany (translated)
    mDNSResponder stuck in restart loop
If you read through all the above like I did, you're probably very tired by now.  But if you had the same problem as I do, you would do anything to resolve it, hence my post here.  So again, I plead for your kind help and attention to this problem!
The above links do tell me one thing, that a "network error" is at the heart of the Console log messages and my problem.  And that remains true even when I've disconnected from the network entirely, leading me to believe that this is some sort of CACHING BUG.  For truly, there is a Time Capsule at my office, and I do use Time Machine (although not saving to the TC but instead to an external FW HD).  So...  It is my guess that Yosemite has cached some network data it doesn't like and tries to access that data from a cache when the Open Dialog appears in Illustrator.  But WHY ILLUSTRATOR in my case?  It makes no sense to me at all.  I would think it should consistently occur in the Open dialogs of all apps, but it's only in Illustrator.
I did have problems with my Time Machine backups after putting Yosemite on my iMac, but those issues were resolved in the 10.10.2 update.
In any case, if indeed it is a CACHING BUG, how then would I clear that stupid, evil cache?
Again, I would appreciate your kind thoughts and advice.
    Thank you!

  • Open/Save Dialog does not show new files?

Say you are working on a logic file in a folder and you have
a few audio and movie files in that folder, and you launch
Logic and via the open/save dialog window you add a few
files to your song and in that dialog window you can see
all the files in that folder.
Then, in the Finder you add a few more files and movies to
that folder and again use the open/save dialog window to
add more files BUT the new files you added since launching
logic are NOT SHOWN in the dialog window ! ?
    What's the deal with that?
Every other app can show files added since the launch of the
    application, why not Logic?

  • Autofs.service causing problems with gnome's save dialog boxes

Recently I have been having a problem saving files to disk using the gnome save dialog box when autofs is running. Basically what happens is most of the folders on the right side of the save dialog disappear (see screenshot below) and remaining few become unresponsive when clicked. If I wait a few minutes the folders will eventually appear and work when clicked, but needless to say this is annoying.
I can "fix" this  problem instantly by simply running systemctl stop autofs.service, but this is not a good solution because I like the convenience of mounting my  NFS shares on demand.

  • Sort-by-type for column view in open/save dialog boxes?

    Hello all,
I've done a fairly good search both on Google and in these forums and can't seem to find this question addressed. When I go to open or save something (in Preview, for example) I prefer to use Column View in the dialog box, since it is easy to see and navigate the folder structure. However, Column View always shows up sorted by name, even if I specified in Finder that the folder be sorted by type. Because of this, I have to scroll down and hunt for subfolders rather than having them conveniently listed at the top.
My question is this: is there a way to get Column View to sort by type in the open/save dialog boxes? (The Command+J that works in regular Finder does nothing in these dialog boxes.)
    Thanks!

No. Column view will only sort by name. If you wanted to put a space before each folder name, then they will sort to the top. Sorting by Kind will put folders above files, but it will also put anything else except files at the top. If there are only folders, however, that would put them first in the sort list.
