I'm in porting limbo!

I've had an account with T-Mobile for 7 years, and I'm trying to port the number to a Verizon prepaid phone. Three and a half days after activating the Verizon prepaid phone, I can make calls on the Verizon phone, but all incoming calls go to my T-Mobile phone. I have spoken with 2 representatives from T-Mobile and 2 representatives from Verizon. Both phones were shut off, SIM cards were removed and reinserted, and the SIM card number for the Verizon phone was confirmed with Verizon. Verizon says porting is completed on their end and that I need to have T-Mobile fully release the number (i.e., close my account) to be ported. (I though either the number was released or it wasn't; is there some kind of partial release?). This goes completely against what little I understand about porting. As I understand it, the number is released by the previous carrier, the new carrier picks up the number, and the previous carrier disconnects all phone service, without any cancellation request from me. T-Mobile confirmed that my number was eligible for porting and that there was nothing on T-Mobile's end that was preventing the number from porting. So, I am now in limbo, having to carry 2 phones that are trying to use the same number. When I check the porting eligibility of my number online, both T-Mobile and Verizon are claiming that the number is already in their networks. Both carriers are saying there is not a problem on their side, so now what?

I stopped by the Verizon store today, and they completed the port in less than 10 minutes. Problem solved!

GS70 2QE - Help needed.... non of my USB ports work :(

Hi guys and gyals...
First time posting here and I wish it was in a positive light but unfortunatley I have an error on my laptop thats preventing me from using it.
So I purchased a GS70 2QE with 970m and 4720 processor. I was very happy for the first two days with its performance until the time I had to use the USB ports. I realise that non of them work at all. Im normally quite good at solving tech issues but this one is going beyond me. Ive done updates on all intel/windows/nvidia drivers as far as I can tell, plus Ive checked the BIOS for usb settings and they are all enabled. Ive switched off the power saving for usb function as well as doing TWO complete reinstalls of windows and still I have no usb.
On the device manager all usb devices seem errorless except one... 'unknown USB device (link in compliance mode)', might I add that nothing is plugged in at this time. Clicking on this brings up the following:
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
The SuperSpeed link to the USB device keeps going to an error state Compliance. If the device is removable, remove the device and then disable/enable from device manager to recover."
Ive attempted to uninstall all usb devices and reboot yet windows just reinstalls the same things and I get the same issue.
Now unfortunatley MSI arent so great. Ive called their UK support number 4 times and its just rang through after 30 mins each time. I have also sent an email to support.... no response.... What the hell is this all about... when I purchase a machine thats this expensive I kinda expect some support value.
Anyway Im in limbo now, cant work, cant game, cant do anything but browse the net with my trackpad. Other than this issue Im happy with the laptop.

Im on win 8.1 out of the box. On 8.1 page theres no drivers for usb 3.0. Now I know there is a problem whereby intel havent released drivers for usb 3.0, all drivers are being given by microsoft as I understand, and the only work around is to use win 7 drivers that are edited. Now I have tried this and while the extensibile host controller accepts the new driver it still doesnt make the ports work. Im hoping that this issue with intel and usb 3.0 is the problem as I would like to solve this out as a software problem as opposed to sending it off for a hardware fix.

Finder message: serial port in use by another application

After giving a print command, I had a power outage with my application open. The computer tells me I
cannot print my document because the serial port is in use by another application. I have opened and closed each application to no avail. The printer has nothing in the cache. I suspect the power outage
left me in limbo with the original command, but I don't know how to get out of it to print the document.
Just so you know, I am not a computer wiz kid. I don't understand how or why anything works. I can,
however follow instructions. Can anyone one help?

Have you tried a Shut Down & Restart? This will close all applications.
Haven't booted into OS 9 for a long time, but try moving Appletalk to remote under Control Panels.

Forwarding a specifc port fails

Hi all,
I setup a free Ventrilo server and allowed the port 3784 through my Actiontec GT704-WG-B router and it was successfully working.
I had my friends connected and no issues for a few days.
Now my friends cannot connect and when i checked the port settings on my router it is now missing. I tried to re-create the user rule for port 3784 but it failed instantly with the message "Virtual Server add failed - Status 1" and will not add the rule to my router.
I checked another random pre-configured rule and it added fine. I think that port 3784 is stuck in limbo somewhere on the router and thats why i get the failed status. I`ve tried rebooting the router but as such it has not changed the problem.The only other thing i can think of is resetting the router to factory defaults and starting all over again but im not sure what Verizon settings if any will be lost and i may make the problem worse than what it is.
Is anyone able to suggest a solution to fix the problem. Im out of options and and not really sure where else to look with this Verizon router without making things worse.

You could try the reset method, but before you do that I would venture to say UPnP could be causing some issues as well. Make sure it's off if you're going to do manual port forwarding for a server. It's likely to break things more than it will fix.
If you do go down the reset route, be prepared to have your Verizon username and password handy for the PPPoE connection. Without that you won't be able to get connected back up and you'll have to call Verizon for help. There is a walled garden you will need to disable too if you do the PPPoE setup manually through the router's GUI (it may present a web-based wizard) rather than through the walled garden Verizon offers, and you can shut it off at http://192.168.1.1/verizon/redirect .

Crash on startup of Limbo through Steam

I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this, since I haven't been able to find much support for this problem anywhere online...
However
I have been having epic difficulty getting the game Limbo to launch from Steam. What happens is I launch the application, and then the screen goes black, like it is about to run the game, but then it reverts back to the previous screen and gives me an Apple error report. I have read that some of the crashes have been caused by the game's specific design to run on a 16:9 high definition screen, however, I believe that would have been fixed during the game's port to the Mac OS. Maybe? The only other thing I can think of is there might be some complication with my network since I am currently studying abroad in Japan.
If anyone is familiar with Steam on a Mac and may know why it's being crash-y, please let me know if you can help.

I notice you might have the same MacBook model as I do, if you're using the black one? Either way, I think it's the graphics card of the MacBook model that isn't compatible.
I have an iMac at home too, so i'll try installing it and running it there to see if it works at all

I have a DSL modem/router from Windstream that is hooked up to a linksy WRT160N which is then wired to my xbox 360. Now I have had problems in the past with the modem/router interfering with the WRT and creating a Strict NAT type. I have fixed that by changing the routers IP address to 10.10.10.1 (recommended by a linksys technical support person) So, now I have a static IP address setup for my 360 and opened all the ports for that and the games I play online but I can't find a game. It just continual cycles in limbo land and I never get a game to play. Is there anything else I need to change in order to fix my issue. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Please follow the below mentioned settings this should fix the issue for you.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 10.10.10.1 and press Enter...
Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox
IP Address :- 10.10.10.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 10.10.10.1...
5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox
Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...
IP Address: 10.10.X.[last part of ip in your device] e.g. if static ip given to the device was 10.10.X.10 get the last part and put that to the empty box.

EP error when porting number

Day 1 - 22 July 2015 called Telstra to change ownership of a mobile number I've had for 17yrs and port it across to telstra.Day 5 – 27 July I received sim card in the mail.Day 6 – 28 Jul received an email from telstra saying welcome to telstra as well as a pack in the mail saying welcome.Day 7 – 29 July sim still not working so I called telstra. They started to tell me it was a problem with my old provider even though I’d received the Telstra welcome packs via both email & in my letterbox.Day 7 - 29 July Decided to visited telstra store who looked on the system and found an EP provisioning error. The consultant in store activated a new sim for me to try & fix it said wait 24-48 hours.Day 10 – 30 July new sim still not working so revisited the telstra store who looked up the file and said the order is still in provisioning so they escalated it to Snapp/Case Manager.Day 10 – 30 July concurrently I submitted a complaint using the online form and advised to contact me on an alternative number as the one they have on file is the number this whole complaint is about i.e. it doesn’t work.Day 14 – 3 Aug no response or advice at all from anyone from Telstra.Day 14 – 3 Aug again visited in store whom again looked up my file. The complaints team had apparently called but used the phone number that this whole problem is about - they noted I was un-contactable and closed the complaint – what a joke!!!Day 14 – Still no advice from Telstra, still no phone working, still no idea if anyone is working on fixing it. Some Facts:I’ve had the mobile no. for 17 yrs through 2 or 3 providers over that time. Thought I'd post an update. Day 14 - 3 Aug I took ProfessorPhone advice and called 132200 got through to porting. Consultant read my file and understood the issue. She had me on hold several times and then said she has escalated it and to wait 24hrs. I said I've been told to wait 24hrs 5 times now and it's actually been 14 days. She promised she would call and update me on day 15. I pleaded for her to be genuine and call me back and she took my alternate pre paid number which I asked her to repeat to me so it was crystal clear. She made me promise not to make another call to telstra until she called me back as she was now my case manager.Day 15 - still no contact from anyone from Telstra, still no phone, still no idea if someone is trying to fix it. Not only is Telstra taking 15days and counting in provisioning my main mobile number, but now I'm giving them money as well by recharging an old prepaid sim I have so I at least have a working phone....it's now amusing on how long this saga will last. It's now passed 1/26 th of a year. Maybe today tonight or current affair might be able to sort it out for me.

HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 color M551dn - Optional USB Device port

Hi, I'm hoping to buy the optional wireless print server (HP Jetdirect 2700w USB Wireless Print Server J8026A). There is one problem though, the optional USB device port seems to not exist on my printer. I only notice that the USB logo is present where the port is supposed to be. The plastic in the area is squared off as though it is some sort of break away tab and the port is underneath maybe.
There is no reference to this in the manual anywhere and I am really unsure how to proceed. I don't want to damage anything.
If someone experienced with this model (preferably an HP Employee) can confirm the availability of the port and tell me how to access it (Is it a break away tab?). Part of the reason why I bought this printer is the optional Wireless N print server.

Thank You for your reply. The port you are talking about is the front panel port for walk-up usb printing and firmware upgrades. This port is indeed available on the higher end LaserJet 500 (NON-MFP, printer only edition) as I just used it to upgrade the firmware. The port I am talking about is the one on the left side in the ports section which you use to plug in the optional print server (not the computer I/O port).
This is shown in the official manual and the spec sheet so I'm 85% sure the port is there, hp can't advertise and mention something that is not available as this would be a big problem and make the 2700w print server incompatible when it clearly states that it is. I just need someone to confirm the availability and clear my confusion (either from HP, or another owner who bought the wireless print server 2700w).

Problem when we created the managed server to configure different ports.

I am trying to configure different ports for admin console and my communication service as we can’t share admin port to the outside world.
So that only admin can access admin console using admin port.
And out side clients can access my webapplication using different port.
For this i have created the managed server in weblogic.and I deployed the application on managed server.
Now admin server is running on 8001 port and my Communication Service application is running on 7001 port.
But when I tried to configure MBeans related to myCommunicationServiceApplication those were disapper on admin console. And the other wlng services are appearing on admin console.
1. Since my application deployed on managed server MBeans registration happened from myapplication hence it’s disappear on admin console.
Now If I want to configure Mbeans (related to my communication service) how can I configure it?
2. My communication service using configurationStore module and other wlng services.
When I tried to start my application on managed server I got the below error:

Today I faced a simlar issue, and this SAP Note helped me fix it: 1966807 - Duplication of AET table records in change processing
In my case, cardinality of AET table was 1:1, and I was getting duplicate PARENT_ID every time when trying to create a subsequent service request for my activity.

Does the mini DVI port cary audio if using a Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter?

I've heard it is possible for a DVI port to transmit audio data to a HDMI connection if a DVI to HDMI cable is used, which will allow the sending of both audio and video to your TV. see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigitalVisualInterface
I'm assuming this is not possible using apples mini DVI port, but just wanted to check to make sure. My main goal is to get surround sound out of my powerbook. To do this by simply adding a Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter would be GREAT!

Yup, no audio, unfortunately. The audio will have to transmitted separately via the analog audio output.

Mini-DVI port not working: wear and tear?

I had been happily using the mini-DVI port to play content on TV, using a DVI to Video adapter : plugging and unplugging probably twice a week.
Now it seems to have stopped, abruptly: no signal at all is reaching the TV. (Adapter still works fine on my MacBook.)
What are the chances of wear and tear damaging the DVI port? Is this a complicated fix? Any other thoughts? No recent upgrades or updates.
"About this Mac" reckons it's mirroring fine, so it feels like a hardware thing. Many thanks in advance.

It is very possible that the DVI port on the iMac has been damaged from wear and tear, as it's harder to get at than the MacBook.
I would disconnect everything from the iMac, grab a clean towel and turn it face down on the desk. Then with a magnifying glass and light inspect the DVI port for a broken or bent pin. In the process of inspecting the port your SMC will also be reset, follow the instruction for "How to reset the System Management Controller" when your done.
If the port seems OK and the SMC reset doesn't get it going use Disk Utility to Repair Disk Premissions and try it again.
Your local Apple Store or local Apple Service Provider can replace a bad or damaged DVI port.

I bought a "mini dvi to vga" adapter at the local Apple store at the mall and it does not fit the mini DVI connection on my Mac Book. What is the correct mini dvi configuration or part number for the Mac Book Mini dvi port?

It may be. I threw the bag out so I can't check. I was in a hurry and thought I picked up the right adapter but guess not.

The Apple TV doesn't officially support a DVI connection, however you may be able to get it to work. You will first need to check that your TV supports either 720p or 1080p as well as HDCP. If you are able to get the video working over the DVI connection, you may also require a DAC in order to connect with Apple TV's optical audio output to the TVs audio imput.
You may well wish to make sure that the DVI connection works before spending any money on a DAC..

What do I need to connect my late 2009 Mac book (mini display port) to the TV and get sound?

I have a late 2009 model Macbook. And I want to connect it to my TV.
So my research has led to believing I need a Mini display port adapter and a HDMI cable - but from some of what I have read, this won't carry sound...
Can anyone clarify this and what I do actually need?

The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with theHDMI.
If you have the Late 2009 model 6,1 White Unibody with the MiniDisplay Port there is an adapter that can combine video and audio to HDMI.

How to connect an older MacBook Pro with mini VGA port to HDMI?

I have an older MacBook Pro with a female mini VGA port. I would like to watch movies which have been downloaded to my laptop on my flat screen TV. Newer MacBook Pros have a mini DisplayPort for which Belkin makes a cable to use; however, I have not been successful in finding either an adapter or converter to use with my older laptop.
FYI. Am currently using Leopard but am upgrading to Snow Leopard.
