I'm running OS X Snow Leopard but I am not getting an App Store icon in my dock. That is keeping me from downloading Lion. Any suggestions?
Any suggestions on how to get the icon into my dock so that I can download Lion.
You need at least OSX 10.6.6 Snow Leopard for the Mac App Store.
Latest version is 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.

The people at the Apple Store told me to wait on an upgrade to Snow Leopard because Lion was coming out soon. However, without Snow Leopard, I can not get the App Store.
I have OSX 10.58 and a processor big enough to support Lion.So you need to upgrade to Snow Leoapard first so you can access the Mac App Store in order to download Lion.

i upgraded to snow leopard but iphoto was not included. How do I install iphoto on snow leopard 10.6.8?
IPhoto is not included in any OS upgrade. It is a seperate application. Unless you choose to erase your drive when you upgrade no application including iPhoto is affected by the upgrade (except potential compatibility issues). If you need to reinstall iPhoto for and reason you do it from the original source. Either
1- the restore disks that came with your computer
Or
2- the iLife DVD upgrade that you purchased
Or
3- the App store

Install Yosemite instead of Mavericks. Or you can do the following if your computer supports Internet Recovery:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your newly installed hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
This should restore the version of OS X originally pre-installed on the computer. -
HT1338 I want to download OS x 7 to my mac but I do not have an app store to find this download.
I have an older mac book with the OS X 5.8. I just recently purchased the iphone 5 and was going to back my phone up (contacts, ect) itunes notified that i need OS x 7 or greater. To download I have to go to the app store to purchase it for $20, yet I dont have appstore app on my computer so can not ind here i can download this update.
You don't have to go to App Store to buy 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. Follow the notes below.
First, check that your machine is suitable for Snow Leopard. It needs to be a Mac computer with an Intel processor.Double check by reading the specs.

To buy the DVD, if you are from the USA go to http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard.
In Europe or otherwise substitute your national code in place of /us above.

Before you start upgrading, back up your files.
Once you have upgraded to Snow Leopard, if your upgrade took you to 10.6.3 you will need to apply the Combo updater. Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 and follow with a software update to pick up the most recent security updates.
This will take you to Snow Leopard and put the App Store in your applications folder.

I have a fully functioning imac running snow leopard fine (recently upgraded to it) because of flash and java issues on browsers seemed I needed to get on to Lion or Mountain Lion so I upgraded the RAM to 2.5GB and now it will not let me upgrade maybe because my model seems to be a late 2006 and not a 2007 imac, cannot understand why it will not let me do this or provide a solution for me to upgrade what I need? Can anybody help, assist or advise?Also it says this:

I purchased Pages on the App store a while back and I can't get it any more on my computer.

I have created the apple id but it is not opening in apps store
it is showing that the apple ID is not used in itunes.it is always asking me to give my card(visa or master) number but it is not showing none option for card.when ever i try to signin it asking me to give the number
If you have an existing ID you want to use in the iTunes/App store, you need either a credit card associated with your account, or if you don't have a credit card, you need to redeem an iTunes gift card in order to be able to select "None".

It seems that firefox installed correctly, but then it wouldn't open. I restarted my computer and still the same problem. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and still the same problem.
Also having the same problem.
I have tried the following with no luck.
*Uninstalling and deleting profile + profile.ini then reinstalling
*deleting the .parentlock file
*deleting and reinstalling version 3.6.8.dmg
*Checked the activity monitor that the application isn't listed as running
*Downloaded addtrap and uninstalled again
all with no luck.
Try some of these first as they might fix your problem but not mine! ;)
If anyone knows of something I may be missing I would appreciate any help.

My new MacBook Pro with 10.8.4 does not seem to work with my Hitachi multimedia projector which works find with my older MacBook running 10.6.8. Is there anything I can do to get the projector to recognize my Mac or is it the other way around? (It would be nice to just carry one machine instead of two. Besides it's not a good advertisement for the new MacBook Pro!
Are you using the same cable and input connector with both systems?

When I try to do the updates my computer says it has ready it goes through like it is downloading them then at the end it says some of the files could not be saved to "/" files.
After your restart your Mac, click the Apple menu (top left in your screen) then click: Software Update ...

I am trying to download the app store for my laptop, however, I have done all the system updates (numerous times over the past few months) and the app store has never appeared. I can't seem to find a link to download it from the website and am not sure how I am able to get it on my computer without reinstalling my whole operating system or something (which I really don't want to do if I can avoid it).
Any information on this issue would be greatly apprieciated,
