I'm thinks of buying a Refurbished iPod nano. Can you download ebooks to it?

I’m looking for a relatively inexpensive device to reed ebooks on and I want to know if I can download text files to this iPod.

Yes, you can put plain text files onto the iPod in the Notes section. However, I believe they have a limited length (although I guess you could break it up by Chapter or something).
Personally, I would not recommend an iPod nano to do this (small screen, not much storage space for a whole book, pain scrolling constantly). However, up to you.

  • Wanting to buy a refurbished Ipod Nano 3rd generation....Good or Bad

I had purchased the 2nd generation Ipod Nano (display unit) though never played, but when I got it home and synced music onto it the music showed up in the Ipod when connected to the computer thru the USB cable, but once I would unplug the unit from the computer, the Ipod wouldn't even power up. So, I took it back - now I need to replace that one for my daughter. I can't seem to find the 2nd generation Nano's anywhere, but on the Apple website, they have the 3rd generation Ipod Nano silver on clearance but like title states it is REFURBISHED, is this good or bad? I need to know asap, so that other arrangements can be made, just in case I need to look further on Ebay or other forums that list items for sale. Thanks, And I hope to hear from someone real soon. Melissa

Apple's refurbished stuff is supposed to be very good.
Although I have not purchased any of it myself, I know people who have who have all been very happy with it.
Question. Is your iPod still under the 1 year warranty? If so, you can send it in for service.

  • IPOD Nano can't download audiobook over 20 hours?

I down loaded a 36 hour audiobook to my imac and then to my ipod.  The Nano has allowed me to listen to 22 chapters and it will not play beyond that.  My iMac will allow me to listen to all 56 chapters.   I have tried re-downloading but Nano will still not go beyond chapter 22. I called the audiobook download service and they tell me that iPods are not designed to play titles over 20 hours. I have never heard this before.  My Nano is 16gb and this is the only book on it.  The download service suggests that I try downloading this large book in Parts.
Has anyone out there had this experience and if so what did you do to fix the problem.  If what the download service tells me is true I may need to find another way to listen to audiobooks-----but-- I don't want to do this.  Help!!

this is happening to me too. I have a first generation touch ipod with the latest software installed, also the latest itunes software installed. i tried resetting the ipod then restoring it and it's still happening. I hope someone can figure out what's wrong.

  • Worldwide Warranty for refurbished iPod nano

    Hey,
I'm in Los Angeles at the moment but acutually come from Germany. I'm planning on buying a refurbished ipod Nano at the Apple Refurbished Products Online Store.
Does anybody know whether the Worldwide Warranty also holds for refurbished products?
    Thanks,
    Marcel

The apple site says they have a one year limited warranty. Check here for the warranty info for refurbished iPods.

  • Thinking of buying a new iPod, do I have to delete the songs already there?

    Hi
This is probably the completely wrong forum for this question, but I don't know exactly where to put it.
The thing is, I have an iPod mini (green) with 4 GB, which now is full and I am thinking of buying a 60 GB one. Last year I got a laptop, and when I was to connect my iPod to it, I had to delete all the music from the library in the stationary computer in order to install iTunes on the laptop. I tried to plug in the iPod to the laptop, but it only said that "This iPod unit belongs to another music library. Do you want to delete all content in order to download the new songs?" or something similar. This meant that I lost about 1200 songs, and pretty much had to start all over again.
Now that I'm thinking of buying a new iPod, I am wondering if anyone could answer me if I'll have to do the same thing as I did when I got the laptop. Does a new iPod belong to another music library, and can't just be set up with the one I've already got?
I'd really apriciate some help here, especially if someone have been in the same situation. It has to be possible to get a new iPod without having to delete all the songs you've saved in iTunes.
    Thanks
      Windows 2000

If an iPod is set to update automatically it will be associated with a particular library. If you connect that iPod to a different computer or a different library on the same computer you get the the message you are referring to. "The iPod "iPod Name"is linked to another another iTunes music library. Do you want to change the link to this iTunes music library and replace all existing songs and playlists on this iPod with those from this library". To use an iPod on multiple computers you change the update method to "manually manage songs and playlists". You can also use multiple iPods on a single computer so you will be able to connect both of your iPods to your existing iTunes. Connect the new iPod and follow the on screen instructions, iTunes will open and update your iPod.
    For info:
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

  • Can i buy a refurbish iPod and pick it up at the store?

I want to buy a refurbish ipod cause they are more expensive here in Spain. I'll one day in the States and gnus would be a perfect tool while I'm traveling

... If I buy the iMac now, can I attend the store not exactly on the 12th of March, but a little later?
    Yes.
They will hold it for you for at least a week without any questions, but it may arrive before the 12th.
To be certain they will hold it until you can pick it up, phone the store and tell them the date you will be there.

  • What are the pro and cons on buying a refurbished ipod 5?

I want to save some money so i'm wondering if it's a good idea to buy a refurbished iPod touch 5th generation. I know that it was used and that it had some problems before, but that should be fixed and approved by apple. I've heard many positive results but aswell as negative results so, i can;t make up mind!

If you need to save the money buy the refurbished model. It will have the same warranty as a new one.

  • Got a refurbished iPod Nano 6th gen, and went to connect it to my PC,

Got a refurbished iPod Nano 6th gen, and went to connect it to my PC, it said it was configured to Mac and went to restore it and install software. Now shows white screen with little computer icon and warning sign. won't reset

By a reset, I assume you mean pressing and holding both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear?
Can you try and force the Nano into Disk Mode and then connect it iTunes and restore it again?

They haven't shown up in the refurbished section for a bit so they may be sold out. You probably will need to use eBay, Amazon, etc

  • Can i trade in my 2nd generation itouch for a refurbished ipod nano?

Can I trade in my 2nd generation itouch for a refurbished ipod nano and still get the 10% discount?

    Apple says:
Recycle your iPod at the Apple Retail Store.
Bring your old iPod to an Apple Retail Store and receive a 10 percent discount on the purchase of a new iPod.*
Note the word 'new" before iPod. I would say no but I would call/go to an Apple store and ask.
