I'm using a website to homeschool our child that is not compatible with newer versions of firefox. Can I and install 3.6 and continue to use 6.0 independantly as well

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

HP Smart web printing is very useful web printing extension which is not compatible with any version of firefox till now but compatible with Internet Explorer any version. So Please do correction. Thanks

It is up to HP to make that program compatible with Firefox.
That application last worked in Firefox 3.5, but HP was always very lax in updating it for a new version of Firefox. Usually they didn't bother to update it until like halfway through the "run" of a particular Firefox version. It worked for like 6 months and then a new version of Firefox was released, and it didn't work for like 6 months until HP got around to fixing it - then the cycle repeated.

Norton has had over 5 months to work in their Firefox extensions, since the API's were locked for 4.0. Ask Norton why they pull this crap every time Mozilla releases a new version of Firefox. When Firefox 3.6 was released mid-January 2010, it took Norton until almost April to come up with a working version of their Firefox extensions.

I went to check my version information by selecting about under the help menu. Firefox started downloading the update and prompted me when it finished. Firebug has development versions that should work in Firefox 4 beta builds. Try the latest version (1.6X.ob1) available from http://getfirebug.com/releases/firebug/1.6X/
This is a beta version of Firebug.
For other add-ons marked as incompatible, you can install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/15003 Add-on Compatibility Reporter], this will enable all of your add-ons and you can test to see if they work. If the add-ons do not work you can disable them. Note that the current release version of Firebug will not work, you will need to use the beta version.
