When I received my iPad last I did not have the service for the iPhone from sprint I was told phone on back order, I thought, good, the phone would come at the end of the month, and I'd cancel AT&T, but it came yesterday. I informed AT&T that I would at the of my first month, because my phone is with sprint. When I went to sync my phone on my computer AT&T cut my service, they said because I was using a samsung galaxey, but I just keep my number now i paid them $25.00 for 2G a month and now they want me sign anew contract, if I want service for the rest of the month I paid for. They must think I'm stupid. You think?
When you have cancelled your AT&T contract you have to sign a new contract when you want their services. AT&T does NOT unlock your iPhone, it will not work with any other provider.
Your iPhone will NOT work with CDMA carrier.
Etcetera.

IF the phone was unlocked by Sprint for international use, it will work on any compatible (non U.S.) GSM carrier.
If it was NOT unlocked before you acquired it, you will need to move to the US and establish service with Sprint, then wait the minimum amount of time specified by their policy before they will agree to unlock it for you.
If you are not a Sprint customer, you bought the wrong phone. -
I found an iphone over one year ago. Its locked with a passcode. I kept waiting for the owner to call it. They never did. I went to an AT&T store today, they put a new sim card in it. and told me to go home, log on to itunes, and restore the phone to "factory settings".But itunes says the phone is locked and it needs the passcode to reset it to factory settings.
Any workaround? Or, am I doing something wrong here?

JoeSounds like you may be the owner of a new phone! If you don't need or want it and no one claims it you probably can sell it. Check eBay to see what the going rate is.
You are to be commended for at least trying to find the owner. Many wouldn't.

One of my sons has an ipad mini and the other a larger ipad. The one using the mini needs a larger ipad for school, so they need to switch. They want to do so without losing their individual app progress. Can I simply switch the SIM cards?
SIM card has nothing to do with your Apple ID or apps.
IOS devices do not store anything on the SIM card.
BAckup everything on the iPads.
REstore tbe ipad from the backup of the other iPad.
REpeat for the other one. -

Not sure if this applies to your region, but in Australia the SIM password is often written on the "credit card" sized plastic card that the SIM was provided to you with the phone by the telco. Do you still have this? It could be in the iPhone box?

my iPhone 4 said it needed to be restored, so i plugged it in but now it says there is no sim in the device, please insert one, so i thought my sim card was playing up and got a new one today, but turns out it still says the same thing..

You can try to restart the iPhone to exit recovery mode.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.

I purchased an iphone 4 from a friend, i somehow cleared it and it's now at the original activation screen, i have spoken to the carrier and they have unlocked it for me. Once the carrier unlock details get sent to apple, will i be able to use any carrier sim card to activate the iphone? currently when i connect to itunes it says the sim is not the original one and i need to insert the original sim... will this happen now that it has been carrier unlocked? i have been told the unlocking can take between 5 and 72 hours, do i just keep trying with itunes or do i have to do something different?
This is a christmas present for my son and i am running out of time, i'm not in an area that i can just go into an apple store and ask, i'm currently overseas in a very poor country and there are not many iphones that i have seen here so your help would really be appreciated.

If you have the AT&T 3G iPad then you can explore the SIM card. I'm not sure if India has the SIM network or another type. REgardless you should be able to access wifi.
HOnestly, if I were traveling I'd get a plug adapter from a normal retail store. You can get a good one for $20 or less at your local retailer, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, probably KMart though I've not looked for them there. Best Buy and the office supply stores may also have them. You don't have to pay for the official one unless you want to. (I have 'over the counter' plug adapters so if I traveled I'd use what I have not buy another) -

You didn't buy an 'unlocked' iPhone 3GS - you bought a 'hacked' one.
Updating to iOS 5 removed the hack and the unofficial unlock.
All you can do is try to find out which network the phone is locked to and ask them if they can unlock it properly.
Otherwise, sell it or throw it away and buy an officially unlocked phone from an official source. -
I want to buy an hp m1536 laserjet for my ipad printing, I believe the printer is not wireless but has sprint. Is the print job going through my wireless router and does that router need to support AirPrint.
The following model is airprint compatible, is this the one you have?

If not the "dnf MFP" model, then no.
The router needs to support the Bonjour protocol. If not, the airprint won't work.
