I need help with my project [Navigator application acesible thru the phone]

I am currently working on my project proposal for the project i want to do. I need to develop a navigator appliation that is accesible thru a phone and hsa the following features:
1. Load image in display buffer and deending on wat user inputs, then i can manipulate the image and draw stuff on it like if the user requires the shortest route, then it can be drawn...
2. Provide traffic updates from rss feeds [online]- in this case i need to know how to use the http request class in J2ME wireless toolkit.
3. Incorporate GPS System or if any other otpion is there for me to be able to tell the location of a user dynamically and use that info to map the location on the map image in the display buffer
4. Provide info about places using pop ups depending on what the user inputs
5 general advice on MIDP development esp that its different from wat am used to [desktop programming]...
The biggest challenge is that am new to mobile apps esp MIDP,Am a student in my final year, and the proosal is this coming week and ineed some help [or should i say breakthrough] SOMEBODY HELP ME..!!

Sup mismis ,
Its a shame to say this but am so new to this i would bore you to death coz i have little (if any soultions)...but i believe if we work together we can go far...
The gps part was quite as process because either way, i had to go thru a 3rd party to get the service, so wat i said i will do is simulate a gpsi.e have a sub component on the side that simultes a gps (as i believe it return the latiotude and longitude positions of wea u are) then using this info i can trace on which region of the map you fall in depending on what mesh u fall in, is that simple or wat?
The othe rthing is that am using J2ME which am not familiar alot wih. Ive used netbeans but for desktop applications not mobile....
But i also have a question, since the whole app would be better on the mobile fully, how do u include the dbase?

    For MS Visio (any version) only the appropriate version of Acrobat *PRO* provides PDFMaker for Visio.
    For Visio 2013 specifically you must have Acrobat XI Pro (updated to at least 11.0.1).

  • Need help with calculator project for an assignment...

    Hi all, I please need help with my calculator project that I have to do for an assignment.
    Here is the project's specifications that I need to do"
    """Create a console calculator applicaion that:
    * Takes one command line argument: your name and surname. When the
    program starts, display the date and time with a welcome message for the
    user.
    * Display all the available options to the user. Your calculator must include
    the arithmetic operations as well as at least five scientific operations of the
    Math class.
    -Your program must also have the ability to round a number and
    truncate it.
    -When you multiply by 2, you should not use the '*' operator to perform the
    operation.
    -Your program must also be able to reverse the sign of a number.
    * Include sufficient error checking in your program to ensure that the user
    only enters valid input. Make use of the String; Character, and other
    wrapper classes to help you.
    * Your program must be able to do conversions between decimal, octal and
    hex numbers.
    * Make use of a menu. You should give the user the option to end the
    program when entering a certain option.
    * When the program exits, display a message for the user, stating the
    current time, and calculate and display how long the user used your
    program.
    * Make use of helper classes where possible.
    * Use the SDK to run your program."""
    When the program starts, it asks the user for his/her name and surname. I got the program to ask the user again and again for his/her name and surname
    when he/she doesn't insert anything or just press 'enter', but if the user enters a number for the name and surname part, the program continues.
    Now my question is this: How can I restrict the user to only enter 'letters' (and spaces of course) but allow NO numbers for his/her surname??
    Here is the programs code that I've written so far:

    What you could do is checking the input string for numbers. If it contains numbers, just reprompt for the Name.
    AND you might want to ask yourself why the heck a calculator needs to know the users Name.

  • Need help with MS Project

    Hi All,
    My PM has asked me to prepare a project plan but I am quite new to MS project (in fact this is the first time I am creating a complete project plan) and any project management software as such.
    My requirements is that I have three different entities (A, B, C) responsible for the tasks in the project. I have created separate custom fields for each and entered their name against the tasks. Now, I need to include % of work completed for each of them
    separately so that each task can be independently tracked against the entity responsible. Some of them are combined tasks where in A & B are to complete those and some are individual.
    For example, Task 1: A - 50%, B - 30%, C - 60%
    Task 2: B - 75% etc.
    So I added % of Work Completed against each entity (in adjacent columns), but when I update one it gets reflected in the other columns as well.
    Is this the right way to do it? Is there any other way to do it? Plz help.
    Regards,
    Ahmed

    Hi Ahmed,
    If I understand your question correctly, I think you can use Task Usage view to manage individual/entity % work completed against a particular task.
    I have tried to put together an example:
    I have assigned the entities (resources) against each task
    and then used the Task Usage where I've inserted the %work completed to track entities (resources) against each task
    There are also other options/views that can be used, like Resource Usage
    Hope this helps
    Paul

    Back up all data.
    Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

  • Need help with determining which Credit Card would be the best

    Here is my situation. Currently only have one credit card, BoA Alaskan Airlines (since 2008) that is pretty much maxed, $6k balance on a $7k limit. I would like to open another card with a 0% balance transfer to help me pay this down as well as lower my utilization.  I have solid credit history, no delinquents and have perfect payment history. No current loans or installment payments and last credit check was earlier this year, a 704 with Experien. I have been comparing the Chase Freedom, Slate and Discover IT and wanted to see what your experiences were and what chances you think I have of qualifying for each card. Which card would be best for my situation? Thanks in advance.

Which card would be best for my situation?Let me give you an example of how constricting high utilization can be.  I was in a similar boat but I had more cards and, aside from utilization over 60% a solid credit profile in good standing.  However, Chase would only approve me for a $2K Slate with the highest APR offered at the time.  It was completely useless.  I was able to get my utilization down to under 10% (I think close to 2%) 6 months later.  At that point I had 2 instant approvals within a day of each other.  Each of those Chase cards were approved for $25K.  Approvals at that point were qualifying for the lowest APR on cards with ranges. I'm not saying that you'll get $25K when you lower your utilization.  Again, just demonstrating how constricting high utilization can be, If you're going to app then you want your credit to be in the best possible shape.  At 85% on your only card you're a long way from that.  I know that's not what you want to hear but it would be unreaslistic IMO to encourage to to expect a card useful for BT and for lowering your utilization.

  • Need help with simple file sharing application

    I have an assignment to build a Java File Sharing application. Since I'm relatively new to programming, this is not gonna be an easy task for me.
    Therefore I was wondering if there are people willing to help me in the next few days. I will ask questions in this thread, there will be loads of them.
    I already have something done but I'm not nearly halfway finished.
    Is there a code example of a simple file sharing application somewhere? I didn't manage to find it.
    More-less, this is what it needs to contain:
    -client/server communication (almost over)
    -file sending (upload, download)
    -file search function (almost over)
    -GUI of an application.
    GUI is something I will do at the end, hopefully.
    I hope someone will help me. Cheers
    One more thing, I'm not asking for anyone to do my homework. I will only be needing some help in the various steps of building an application.
    As I said code examples are most welcome.
    This is what I have done so far

    public class User {
        String nickname;
        String ipAddress;
        static ArrayList<String> listOfFiles = new ArrayList<String>();
        File sharedFolder;
        String fileLocation;
        public User(String nickname, String ipAddress, String fileLocation) {
            this.nickname = nickname.toLowerCase();
            this.ipAddress = ipAddress;

            File[] files = sharedFolder.listFiles();

    class UserManager {
        static ArrayList<User> allTheUsers = new ArrayList<User>();;
        public static void addUser(User newUser) {
            allTheUsers.add(newUser);
        public static void showAndStoreTheListOfUsers() throws FileNotFoundException, IOException {
            BufferedWriter out = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter("List Of Users.txt"));
            for (int i = 0; i < allTheUsers.size(); i++) {
                    System.out.println(allTheUsers.get(i));
                    out.write(allTheUsers.get(i).toString());
                    out.newLine();
            out.close();
    }Request For File
    package ToJeTo;
    import java.util.*;
    public class RequestForFile {
        static ArrayList<String> listOfUsersWithFile = new ArrayList<String>();
        Scanner input;
        String fileName;
        public RequestForFile() {
            System.out.println("Type the wanted filename here: ");
            input = new Scanner(System.in);
            fileName = input.nextLine();
            for (User u : UserManager.allTheUsers) {
                for (String str : User.listOfFiles) {
                    if (str.equalsIgnoreCase(fileName))
                        listOfUsersWithFile.add(u.nickname);
        public RequestForFile(String fileName) {
            for (User u : UserManager.allTheUsers) {
                for (String str : User.listOfFiles) {
                    if (str.equalsIgnoreCase(fileName))
                        listOfUsersWithFile.add(u.nickname);
        public static List<String> getAll() {
            for (int i = 0; i < listOfUsersWithFile.size(); i++) {
                //System.out.println("User that has the file: " + listOfUsersWithFile.get(i));
            return listOfUsersWithFile;
    }Now this is the general idea.
    The user logs in with his nickname and ip address. He defines his own shared folder and makes it available for other users that log on to server.
    Now each user has their own list of files from a shared folder. It's an ArrayList.
    User manager class is there to store another list, a list of users that are connected with server.
    When the user is searching for a particular file, he is searching through all the users and their respective files lists. Therefore for each loop inside a for each loop.
    Now the problem is how to connect all that with Client and Server class and put it into one piece.
    GUI should look somewhat like this:

  • Collage Students need help with Java project(Email Server) whats analysis?

    Hi im studying in collage at the moment and i have just started learning java this semester, the thing is my teacher just told us to do an project in java , since we just started the course and i dont have any prior knowledge about java i was wondering if some one could help me with the project.
    i choose Email Sevice as my project and we have to submit an analysis and design document , but how the hell am i suppose to know what analysis is ? i just know we use ER diagrams & DFD's in the design phase but i dont know what analysis means ?
    could some one tell me what analysis on an email service might be? and what analysis on a subject means? is it the codeing involved or some thing coz the teacher told us not to do any codeing yet so im completly stumped,
    oh and btw we are a group of 3 students who are asking u the help here coz all of us in our class are stupmed ?

    IN case any one is interested this is the analysis i wrote
    ANALYSIS
    Analysis means figuring out what the problem is, maybe what kinds of solutions might be appropriate
    1.     Introduction:-
    The very definition of analysis is an investigation of the component parts of a whole and their relations in making up the whole. The Analysis done here is for an emailing service called Flashmail, the emailing service is used to send out mails to users registered with our service, these users and there log activities will be stored in some where, the most desirable option at this time is a Database, but this can change as the scope of the project changes.
    2.     Customer Analysis:-
    We are targeting only 30 registered users at the moment but this is subject to change as the scale changes of the project .Each user is going to be entitled to 1MB of storage space at this time since we lack the desired infrastructure to maintain anything higher than 1MB but the end vision of the project is to sustain 1000 MB of storage space while maintaining a optimal bandwidth allocation to each user so as to ensure a high speed of activity and enjoyment for the Customer.
    The Service will empower the user to be able to send, read, reply, and forward emails to there specified locations. Since we are working on a limited budget we cant not at this time enable the sending of attachments to emails, but that path is also left open by modularity of java language, so we can add that feature when necessary.
    3.     Processor Load Analysis:-
    The number of messages per unit time processing power will be determined on hand with various algorithms, since it is best not to waste processor power with liberally distributing messages per unit time. Hence the number of messages will vary with in proportion to the number of registered users online at any given time.
    4.     Database Decision Analysis:-
    The High level Requirements of the service will have to be decided upon, the details of which can be done when we are implementing the project itself. An example of high level requirements are database management, we have chosen not to opt for flat files because of a number of reasons, first off a flat files are data files that contain records with no structured relationships additional knowledge is required to interpret these files such as the file format properties. The disadvantages associated with flat files are that they are not fast, they can only be read from top to bottom, and usually they have to be read all the way through. Though there is are advantages of Flat files they are that it takes up less space than a structured file. However, it requires the application to have knowledge of how the data is organized within the file.
    Good databases have key advantage over flat files concurrency. When you just read stuff from file its easy, but tries to synchronize multiple updates or writes into flat file from scripts that run in different process spaces.
    Whereas a flat file is a relatively simple database system in which each database is contained in a single table. In contrast, relational database systems can use multiple tables to store information, and each table can have a different record format.
    5.     Networking Analysis:-
    Virtually every email sent today is sent using two popular protocols known as SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) and MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions).
    1.     SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)
    The SMTP protocol is the standard used by mail servers for sending and receiving email. In order to send email we will first establish a network connection to our SMTP server. Once you have finished sending your email message it is necessary that you disconnect from the SMTP server
    2.     MIME (Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions)
    The MIME protocol is the standard used when composing email messages.

  • Need help with Resource Mapping from Application Deployment to VC:virtualMachine

    Hi,
    I've built a number of vCO Workflows and hooked them up to Resource Actions in vRA. However, the Workflows I've built all take a VC:VirtualMachine as the input and therefore,they only "hookup" to VMs in the Machines list in the Items tab in vRA. Ideally, I want these actions to hookup to the Application Deployments in vRA since that is what my users are deploying - the VM that the App rides on is somewhat secondary. Plus, it's cumbersome for them to find the VM that corresponds to the App they want to run the action on.
    So, I looked into creating a new Resource Mapping, thinking I could map an Application Deployment to a VC:VirtualMachine so that I could create an Action for the Application. I was able to create a mapping from Application Deployment to VC:VM using the Map to VC:VM existing workflow and I could add that to the Actions menu for the Application Deployment but if I try to run it, it fails. I kind of expected this since I think the Map to VC:VM is expecting an input of IaaS VC:VM to map to vCO VC:VM. I think what I need to do is write a Workflow that will take in the Application Deployment "object" and find the VC:VM inside it but I don't know how to find out the structure of an Application Deployment such that I could parse it and get the VM.
    Does this make sense? Am I going about this the right way? Thanks for any help,

    Total: $ 10.0
    I need to get the Gratuity multiplying it by .10. Can anyone help me? When I plug in 15, it is suppose to come out 1.5 and then adds with 10.

    You have a few issues here. First, why aren't you using "total" in the calculation of your gratuity? Second, why are you storing the gratuity in an int (this will round down to the nearest dollar)? Third, where are you actually transforming the percentage into a fraction (AKA dividing by 100.0)?
    This is the math:
    double subTotal = 10.0;
    double percentage = 20.0;
    double gratuity = subTotal * (percentage / 100.0);
    double total = gratuity + subTotal;Now plug your input into that.
