I need iMovie HD

I need iMovie HD to open some old projects that I found.  Where can I find it?  If it is no longer available, how can I open those projects?  When I use iMovie '11 to import iMovie HD project, it comes out empty.

I would suggest eBay or Amazon.

  • Want to upgrade to SL, but need IMOVIE 06

Hi all...Okay... I am using OS X (10.4.11), I know I need to upgrade and want to upgrade to Snow Leopar. Here's my problem..I am transferring 8mm films to my digital camcorder, then importing to IMOVIE08, then to IDVD to burn onto a dvd. The quality of the 8mm films are very poor because of the age of the films. I want to be creative when editing these 8mm home movies and IMOVIE 09 will allow me to do that by adding a theme. It will also reduce the unsteadiness which is throughout the films. After reading the threads it seems I would be better off installing IMOVIE 06 because of the quality it will produce when burned onto a dvd. So...if I upgrade to Snow Leopar, which will give me IMOVIE 09, can I also install IMOVIE 06? Is it still available to purchase? Will having IMOVIE 06,08 and 09 screw up my computer? Any comments will be helpful..thanks

  • Need iMovie Help, Please

My DH has a Hitachi Hybrid Camcorder DVD/HDD and I'm the lucky one who needs to deal with getting the movies from both HDD and the mini DVD onto a normal size DVD. I've hooked to the computer with the usb cable supplied with the camera. The HDD dics icon shows on the computer but I can't import into imovie. And, iMovie doesn't open automatically. And when I manually open iMovie, the HDD disc shows but when I click it nothing happens. (Please explain in simple terms) TIA

I suspect that the Hitachi Hybrid's hard drive records in the same format as its DVD recording format - MPEG 2. That's why I posted Appleman1958's tip - it's relevant to both the hard drive and DVD. Sorry, but your post was a bit confusing as it mentioned both recording methods! I wasn't clear on what you wanted to import from.
My understanding is that, for iMovie to be able to import MPEG 2, it must first be converted to a suitable format for editing. Hence the use of the tools mentioned by Appleman.
    Hope this clarifies things!

  • Did a clean install of Mavericks and need iMovie 9 back

    Hello,
I did a clean install of Mavericks.  Obviously, I needed to re-install everything.  I thought re-installing everything would be no problem but boy was I wrong.  I'm one of the unlucky ones who cannot install iMovie 10.  At this point, I'd like to revert back to version 9 but it's no longer offered in the App store and when I try to download it from Apple support, it says I need a prior version installed.  So I am now stuck in limbo. Any suggestions on how to get back to version 9?  I've lost interest in bothering trying to install v10. I just want 9 back at this point.

in a way I also want imove 9 back and certainly I also had issues when installing mavericks forced imovie 10 to be installed - ie when I tried to start imovie after mavericks, it refused to start up until I install imovie 10.
Yesterday after mavericks was installed, the app store/installer/the powers that be just started downloading & installing other stuff like new iphotos, xcode, new voices I used in speech, etc. When it came to imovie's turn, it did fail to install for me, unlike the other apps which seemed to have installed fine (but I have not used yet).
Today when I tried to use imovie, the app store app got started automatically and told me I needed to update to imovie 10. The apps store just sat there for a long time saying "updating" and then after a long time a notification popped up saying the update failed (again).
Then I clicked on the "purchased" tab instead of the "updates" tab of the app store app, and it listed the apps I "purchased" of which imovie was one of them. The button on the right of that entry said "download" or some other word indicating an update was needed. I clicked on that and then imovie 10 installed fine,
I have since used imovie to produce a clip. Hope this helps you.

You can install iMovie 6 onto any computer with iLife 08 installed.

  • Do I need iMovie 11 for a Sony HDR-CX260V?

Trying to figure out why iMovie does not recoginize this camera? It does not pop-up automatically at the point that you should be able to start an import.

Just for future reference, AJA has a free app called "AJA VTR Xchange" that would capture just fine for you.  It would probably capture directly from the camera, also.

    Chapter Markers for iDVD
You can use GarageBand. It's not perfect, but not too bad:

    Save Frame
I actually prefer this method to the old one in iMovie HD:

    Edit to a exact frame
Different than iMovie HD, but still very possible and just as easy:

  • I need iMovie but can't upgrade to Mavericks (on a MacBook plastic case early 2008, running 10.6.8)

I used to have IMovie on my MacBook (plastic case early 2008), running 10.5.8.
Then I upgraded to 10.6.8, and added extra memory, it's 2 GB now. Thus I lost  iLife, that I used to have.
I tried to purchase iMovie 11 but it requires 10.9 or higher.
Unfortunately I cannot upgrade, because my Mac Book is too old (only aluminium case ones from late 2088 can upgrade).
    So...what should I do?
Look for older versions of iLife/iMovie, but where do I get them?
Or can I get iMovie 6 and the rest of iLife from my old installation disks (10.5.8) of when I purchased the MacBook? And how do I do that?

    Thanks!
iLife '09 apparently requires 4 GB and I only have 2. I'll see if I can find the DVD that had to be in my original machine box.

  • Need iMovie help!

Alright, I started making this video that I planned to put on YouTube a while ago.
You see, at first, the sound wouldn't play on half the videos I loaded onto the program (which, obviously, was a real pain) and the quality dropped on all of them, too. Then, the preview screen went totally black, and that little loading thing (you know, the circular thing) is stuck there. I also can't put any videos onto the movie itself; that green bar that indicates the video is about to be integrated into the movie stays there, but the clip never loads onto it.
    I am VERY aggravated.

  • I need imovie help fast

My daughter has made a movie of still photos and audio. She would like to burn this onto a dvd to play in her classroom. I do not have a DVD burner on my mac and was hoping I could just copy it onto a cd-rom load it onto a friends Macbook and then burn it to DVD. When we try to open the file on the Macbook it says unable to find clip 18, 19, 20, etc., and it will not play the movie.
The other option I tried was exporting it to her ipod and after doing that I couldn't find it on her Ipod either. Any help will be greatly appreciated

A couple of options - if you have or have access to a camcorder, you could export to tape and then transfer the footage to imovie on the macbook, creating a new project from which you can make the dvd.
If the file is small enough, export to quicktime movie (full quality DV)and burn to CD or removeable flash drive (you can get these up to 4GB) before transferring to the macbook.
You could buy or borrow an external HD to transfer the QT.
Get a firewire cable to connect the Imac to the Macbook and put the Macbook into target disk mode to transfer the file.
If you have iDVD on the iMac, create the iDVD project using the full quality dv quicktime movie, and transfer this to the macbook for burning.
    Create a slideshow in iphoto.
Transfer all the photos and music to the macbook and recreate the project in iMovie to export to iDVD

  • I need iMovie help.  I can't publish the final movie.  I tells me that there is an error in the user parameter list.  Any help would be welcome.  It has video, audio and music.

I am using a OSX10.7.4.  I should have enough memory.  Thanks.

You are on Windows 2000, you do not have a "Firefox" button, and should consider yourself to be fortunate in that you still have menus and don't have to do anything to get the menus back instead of the "Firefox" button. (The same applies to Windows XP users).
Use the "File" menu to get to Import. You are not on Windows 7 or Vista, and don't have to put up with the nonsense added for Aero.
If you want the "Firefox" button you can get it with View -> toolbars -> (uncheck) Menu Bar. The menu bar and the "Firefox" button were supposed to be mutually exclusive (which is impossible in some cases without being incompatible).
Once you are using the "Firefox" button ...
Use the "Alt" key to view the menu bar (temporarily) containing File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, and Help. On Windows 7 and Vista, the menu bar was hidden by default in Firefox 4 and above. These menu items are more or less available under the "Firefox" button which has the most used of the built-in Firefox menu items available in a different format.
To get back to having menus again. "Firefox" button -> Options (second column) -> (check) Menu Bar
You can make '''Firefox 7.0.1''' look like Firefox 3.6.*, see numbered '''items 1-10''' in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 thru 8.0, look like 3.6)]. • Trying to use Imovie to create a movie using a Mac OSX 10.6.7, 3.2 g Intel core. Using clips from my Sony CRX 150 and need to remove sound in order to add music to the movie. HEELLLP!

OK, I 'm attempting my first movie here using this Mac OSX Snow Leopard with IMovie. I have clips I created from an 8mm Movie projector copied on my Sony CRX 150 and the sound of the projector is all over these clips and I have no idea how to remove that before adding music. So far this has been great and this is my first bump in the road. Also I notice tho, that the icon for my camcorder has disappeared from the desktop and looks like I'm gonna have trouble "ejecting" it in order to shut things down!!!  HELLLLP!

Thanks. I tested it out and you were correct. I loaded 2 .dv movies from my external HD back onto my internal HD, and got them re-imported into iMovie, took a few short clips from each of the 2 iMovie events and pasted them into a new project in the Project Browser. Then I deleted these 2  "source clips" from my internal HD, closed iMovie and then re-opened it and found that iMovie would NOT export the smaller clips for a "highlights" .4mv movie without the "source clips" being available.
I read your link on Quicktime. It talks about mostly trimming, which is what I did with each iMovie event before I took each one as a project to export as a smaller .4mv file. But if I use Quicktime (do I need QT Pro or basic), what advantage is it to me to use QT over iMovie (I must admit I am a novice at iMovie and have never used QT or QT Pro as a tool)? Will it then convert any edits I make to a .m4v movie or do I need iMovie to do that?
Does QT allow trimming multiple segments out of a movie during one edit session, or can you only do 1 at a time? By that I mean that, for example, when I use Sonys Picture Motion Browser for my .mts movies, you can only set one Start and one End point for each edit/trim you do: it does not allow you to set multiple Start Stop points like iMovie allows in its Event or Project browser. You can only do one "trim" at a time, save it and then reopen to do another trim. not very useful.

  • Imovie update for OS X 10.4.11, imovie 9.0 or newer, OS X 10.5 needed

I have imovie 6.0.3 on my OS X 10.4.11 and Sony tells me I need imovie 9.0 or newer to work with my camcorder in imovie. I cant upgrade to imovie 9.0 unless I have OS X 10.5. Is there anyway I can get my camcorder to work without buying new software?

There's no way we can tell you unless you tell us something about the camcorder besides the name of the manufacturer.
