I need to replace "" in my form fields

Okay, let's say I'm using <cfform> and <cfinput>
tags and I want to replace quotes with nothing if a user enters
quotes in my named fields. How would I do that?
say i had a field name "firstname". If a user entered
something like "John Doe" and kept the quotes in there, how would I
replace the quotes with nothing at all?

Easiest way to do it is the following:
- Open the PDF file in Acrobat.
- Go to Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Export Data.
- Save the form data as an XML file somewhere on your system.
- Open XML the file in a plain-text editor (I recommend Notepad++).
- Let's say you want to replace all the years in the dates from "2013" to "2014". Do a global Search&Replace of "2013-" to "2014-" (I added the dash just to make sure that only date fields are edited).
- Save the XML file (maybe under a new name).
- Go back to the PDF file, and now go to Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Import Data.
- Select the edited XML file and import it.
- Done!

I need default values for APEX form fields. How do I do this?

I am trying to set a default value in my form so that there will not get a null value. I have gone to the Column Defaults page and filled out the following fields in From Defaults:
Default Value: 0
Required: Yes
Help Text: Please enter a number.
When I add a record set or update a record and do not fill in the field, neither does it prompt me to fill it in or has a default value. It is blank.
Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Defaults:
Click on the page item, go to the Default section, enter your value into the Default value area.
Validations:
It's not quite as automatic as you are thinking.
You'll need to add a Validation process for the item.
First you go to the Page Processing section, then the Validations section, click the creation icon in the Validation section. You will first have the choice to create an item level or page level validation. Either will work. Next you will select the item you want to validate. Then, select Item Not Null. On one of the next pages you will be able to enter the error message. It's all pretty straightforward.

Replace form fields

I received a form with editible fields. I need to replace the editible form fields with static lines. In the past I have made this change by selecting all at one time but cannot remember how to do it again. I would appreciate any help on this.

I am using Acrobat Professional 8, it was created in 7. In Advanced Editor, it will only allow me to use the touchup tools. In Advance > Security > Show Security Properties, the dropdown shows "No Security" but the Restricions Summary shows it does not allow Changing the Document.
I can edit in Form Designer but it won't allow me to use the optimizer to flatten the form. I get a message that it is XML and cannot be optiminzed.

Need help Loading images with selection on a form field?

So I'm kind of a newb.. I can do basic forms but I need to set up a form field drop down box that will give me the ability to load images correlating to the users choice. I'm at a total loss for where to start, so ANY help would be appreciated. If you know of any good books or tutorials on the subject please share.

Our client need we provide the editable PDF, i.e. some form fields in the PDF report can be edit. Now we created the PDF template and merged it with the XML data definition in Jdeveloper, but when we get the final PDF report, we found that the PDF form field property is changed to "Read-Only" automatically. We make sure that in PDF template the form field is not "Read-Only", something happened when we merging the XML data and the PDF template.
Now we wonder if there is any API can help us to modify the PDF form field property, after we merge the XML data and PDF template, we can use it to change the form fields to editable, not "Read-Only".

How to Pass XML Data to a PDF Form and Load it into form fields

I have xml Form data in a string. I would like open a programatically launch a pdf document and pass the xml data as one of the parameters and this xml data needs to load all the form fields.
Any Idea as to how this can be done?

If your PDF is an XFA PDF form, with Reader Extensions enabled, and you want to keep the Reader Extensions functionality for a user to use after your programmatic manipulation, then neither of these tools will work (FDFToolkit or iText).
Upon the user opening the file once it has been programmatically modified, the user will see the following:

Auto Create Filename from Form Fields

Hello all,
I am trying to find a way that I can save a form with a certain filename. I have the form create and all set to go. The user will be input some information into boxes. For instance I will have a Name box and a Date box. After the user is done filling out the form I would like the filename to be these two input boxes. Is there a way to do this? So basically I need to take these two form fields and have them be saved as the filename. Any help would be great. Thanks alot.

You can export the data form the PDF using the FormDataIntegration service.
Once you have the data in xml format, you can use a setValue and concatenate the value of the two nodes you're interested in.

Form Fields Duplicating Information: Make It Stop!! (Please)

So, obviously I am very new to this whole Adobe form thing, and I am having a problem with it.
I am working on a project for work, and we are trying to make these documents auto-populate with information. For generic fields in which the applicant will have to enter in text themselves we are using the phrase "text_field". However, I think this may be causing a problem:
Take this page for example: When I enter random characters into this box like so,
And then I leave the box, this happens:
I do not want this to happen. I want it to stop. It does this throughout the ENTIRE document.
I suspect that this may be the problem:
If someone can confirm for me if this is the problem, and how I can get it to stop, that would be lovely. Thanks.

You need to learn more about form fields.
As noted you need to apply reasonable names and possibly using the hierarchal naming structure. For example, you have an address information that consists of a number, street name, unit/apartment, city, state, and zip or postal code. One could use names like street address, city, state, postalcode. But if one wanted to access all of those fields at once and change a shared property, one could not do that. If one use a names like address.number, address.name, address,apt, address.city, address.state, address.postalcode, then accessing the high level name of address would allow one to change all the child fields under that parent field.
With the distribution disk for Acrobat there is a folder of forms and within that folder is PFN folder that has an example of how to use this type of field to get the basic unit of data and then build a single unit that combines the lower level data.

Help needed in RTF form field to display yes or no based on xml value

I have the data in xml as follows: <CP_ZERO_COST>2</CP_ZERO_COST>
Now my requirement is, if CP_ZERO_COST is 2 then the column should display 'No' and if CP_ZERO_COST is 1 the column should display 'Yes'. Now this 'yes' or 'no' is not coming in xml tag. I need to do that in RTF form field.
Could anyone please tell me how to do that?

I think it has something to do with the way the value of the check box is exported, but I'm not sure. With nothing being exported to Data5, Data6 displays the sum of Data1-4 rounded down to the nearest whole number and updates automatically as Data1-4 are updated.
Right now, assuming Data1-4 are 0, where data 5 is the output of the second example and any box is checked, "1" is displayed in data5 but nothing is added to data 6. Selecting any other check box or deselecting that check box will cause data6 to add 1 even if data5 displays "0". By way of example:
Selecting Check box 16 results in Data5 displays 1 and Data6 displays zero.
Then, if any or all of Checkbox17-20 are selected, Data5 displays 1 and Data6 displays 1.
Then, if any or all of Checkbox17-20 are deselected, Data5 Displays 1 and Data6 displays1.
Then, if Checkbox16 is deselected, Data5 displays 0 and Data6 displays 1.

I need to verify that Acrobat Standard XI has the ability to add a digital signature form field to an existing PDF file.

Can anyone answer this question for me?
As in, a PDF that has already been created in a different version and has established form fields. Can I open it in Standard and add a digital signature to a field or do I have to use Pro, or does the form need to be recreated? The comparison chart is kind of unclear about this.

Yes. It was possible in Acrobat X Standard and I do not think it was removed in Acrobat XI Standard. It does not matter with which version your PDF was originally created. You can always add fields.

I need to substitute the default font (times roman) in my editable form fields with a san serif...

I am making a PDF with editable form fields out of InDesign CS6. When I make the interactive PDF, the font, Helvetica Neue is being substituted with the default font, Times Roman. The client has provided me with last years PDF which has a nice San Serif for the editable fields. I need to change the font either to Helvetica Neue, or at least to a nice San Serif common system font. I have Acrobat X.

I called a friend of mine who walked me through this so I will post the instructions for anyone else who may be having this problem...
1. Open the PDF with the form fields in a recent version of Acrobat.
2. Click on the Toolls tab.
3. Under Forms, click Edit.
4. Now you will see your fields listed under "Field" > "Sort by"... "Text Field 1"... etc.
5. Holding "control" click where it says "Text Field 1" and some options will pop up.
6. Click on "Properties".
7. A "Text Fields Properties" window will pop up.
8. Click on the "Appearance" tab.
9. Here you can change your fonts and font sizes.

PDF form field calculation help needed

I need to make some simple calculations on a pdf form and need some help.
I have a form field for number of guests.
A field for a set cost for various tickets (there are 3 levels of ticket prices) (I might not need this field).
A subtotal of the guests attending and ticket price.
A grand total of the subtotals.
I can't figure out how to either put in a fixed cost in a form field or input a calculation so that the number of tickets is muliplied by a fixed number and gives me a subtotal.

Ok. I finally got the calculations to work. But..... when I save and open in Reader, they don't work. Go back to Pro, they don't work there now either. They also don't show up under the Set Field Order Calculations. To reset them, i have to erase the calculations, save, redo the calculations. Preview the form and everything works — calculations happen and i get a total.
Adobe Reader usage rights are enabled.
Why is this so hard?
I found this thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/1152890#1152890 about it. Is this bug still going on since 2009?
Ok. Apparently you have to enable reader rights after the form is done. It seems to work now. What a pain.
