Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
When you purchase Mountain Lion, you can install it as many times as you want on all your computers for free. To install it on the desktop, open the App Store, go to Purchases tab and download OS X Mountain Lion.
Another option is to redownload it on the MacBook, put the installer onto a USB drive and connect it to the desktop in order to upgrade

Many thanks, Sir! Both are mine and it's good to know that imessage can work on both with the same Apple ID. Will now have to find out why imessage stopped working on iPad when it started on iPhone (new). After exploring the forum I understand that there may be plenty of reasons why imessage does not work, even though it worked previously on the same device with the same ID.

The computer will not erase the information. Each device will show up in iTunes as a separate device and you can control the information for each device through iTunes.

I lost my IPhone 4S this morning and want to increase my cloud storage so I can back it up when it finds a signal and then remotely erase it...I'm assuming the worst that whoever finds is will not call me or want to return the phone. I went to icloud but it only govers me options to increase storage from my iPhone or a synced computer (mac or PC).
If the phone is offline there is no way to track it or send a message to it. You can place it in lost mode to lock it and send it a message (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mmfc0f0165), but this will not take place until the phone goes back online, if it ever does. If it does, you will get an email informing you.

Try downloading them onto the iPad normally. If you're asked to pay for them, you can't.
The developer needs to create the two versions separately.

I have an iPad Retina; if I download email onto it I then cannot download the same email onto my iMac. and vice-versa. I have all settings set to leave a copy on the server so cannot understand why email will not download to both devices. Can anyone help please?

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Downloading mountain lion damaged my hard disc. I took my Mac Pro to apple store. They are unable to repair it and suggest I purchase a new hard disc for $160. It was a perfectly functioning Mac Pro that got damaged by downloading mountain lion.
Software upgrades do not generally damage hardware; your drive's failure must be co-incidental. On most MBP's, a hard drive is very easily replaced by a user. You might want to check out this site for both hard drives as well as install videos (check which model you have so you can check the correct video):

it is all so confusing i need help!!!You can't currently merge accounts and the content will remain tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded it, though you can have more than one account authorised on the same computer's iTunes via Store > Authorise This Computer. As only one account can be actually logged in at a time (Store > Sign In / Sign Out) for purchasing or re-downloading/viewing past purchases, you may want to use just the one account for future purchases.

Hi Yes you can use the same address as on the laptop. iTunes will then show purchases you have made and you will be able to download them.
