I rebuilt the thumbnail cache and lost all the changes and editing I had made to 4000 photos every photo reverted back to the original

A tech rebuilt my iphoto thumbnail cache and afterwards all the changes and editing of all my 4000 photos was gone!
Every phot had reverted back to the original!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED???? Why were all my changes destroyed? Where are the photos that I edited?
Also a bunch of photos disappeared. HELP!!!!!

Of course there is no reason that rebuilding a thumbnail cache would cause a loss of all editing of my photos!!! But that's what happened.
I was there when the tech rebuilt the library and thumbnails. He held down shift & command and opened Iphoto and a window appeared with "Rebuild Photo Library" with 6 boxes to check such as
1) Repair Iphoto Library Database
2) Rebuild Iphoto Library Database from automatic backup
3) Rebuild the photos' small thumbnails
4) Rebuild all the photos'thumbnails (this may take a while)
5) Recover orphaned photos in the Iphoto Library Folder
6) Examine and repair IPhotoLibrary file permissions
The tech checked all boxes and after Iphoto has rebuilt everything all my editing was gone and all my photos had reverted back to their originals representing 5 years work.
There are no stuck keys on my keyboard of my computer.

What's the best way to transfer all the content, including notes and apps, from my old 3rd gen to my new 4th gen. When I replaced my last iTouch with the 3rd gen I lost all my contacts and notes.

Backup the 3g by syncing in iTunes. Then connect the new one and sync everything to it from your backup.

Yesterday I D/L'd a trial version of LR 5.6 and during installation it seemed to be copying my catalog from my LR 4.4. Now nearly all of my catalog and all my collections in LR 4 have disappeared. What has happened to them andhow do I get them back. The original photos seem to still be available in the myphotos directory on the computer, but without any of my lightroom editing.

Without a backup on iCloud, there needs to be another device using the same @icloud address that is syncing to the notes. Without that, there is no way to go back in time to create a backup before performing a major update.

I reinstalled my operating system (Win 7 Ultimate) and lost all my Firefox data. I had Xmarks, so I got all my book marks back, but I also had gotten another one when Xmarks said they were going to fold (which I can't remember the name of).
The last few times when I reinstalled my OS (which was years ago), there was some place where I could enter a 16-digit PIN and all my passwords, add-ons, etc, would come back...or at least that's how I remember it.
What am I missing to get the passwords back? And all of my add-ons/extensions?

Did you register with Firefox Sync? If so, perhaps you have the Recovery Key?

Then, this article describes how to retrieve information stored on the Sync server from a new computer using your recovery key. BTW, I'm assuming you didn't back up your hard drive on a regular basis. If you did, you would be able to get a lot closer to your previous setup. The critical stuff would be under the C:\Users\''yourusername''\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ path.

Media and contacts are NOT part of the iPhone backup. Media should already be in your iTunes library and contacts should be in whatever address book or cloud service you were syncing them to. Just re-sync them to the phone.

Install ForeverSaveLite (free) on your Mac to prevent this in the future.
