If the books were purchased at the iBookStore, you will be able to redownload, like the apps. Some other sellers, like O'Reilly, also allow multiple downloads.
If you have (or can install) iTunes on a computer (Mac preferable, not mandatory) and run it then plug the device in, does it show up? If the computer can detect it, you can and should do a complete backup onto local storage immediately. That can then be used to reconstruct the content of the device on a new or repaired replacement. If you enable encryption, even the passwords will get saved.

Lost entire music library and on my itunes. Is there any way I can get it back?

Our computer stopped working, so I downloaded th new version of itunes onto my laptop. When I plugged in my ipod, my entire library was there, however when I tried to sync it, I must have pressed some weird button because all of my music is now gone on both itunes and my ipod. Is there any way I can get it back? Please help, I've been collecting this music for years, and it was there one minute and gone the next. Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer or backup of the old computer to the new computer.
iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.

Depends on what you had
If you had iPhoto version 9.5.1 then you can reinstall from the app store under purchases
If you had any version of iPhoto '11 then you can install for free from the App store
If you had any earlier version of iPhoto (iPhoto '09 version 8.x.x) or older then you need to purchase iPhoto '11 version 9.x.x from the app store
If you had iPhoto '08 (version 7.x.x) or older then you also need to download and run the iPhoto library upgraded prior to launching the new iPhoto

Are you running Mountain Lion (Mac OSX 10.8.x)? If so, and you are using Pages, you should be aware that Apple has implemented a new auto-save feature for its software (and other software that has been written to comply). The very good news is that you can retrieve prior states of your document. The bad news is that the feature makes it easy to modify your work inadvertently by saving your changes without your knowledge. I don't think Apple has it quite right yet. In any event, research OS 10.8 auto-save and see if this might be your problem.

Zune is mostly a subscription service that comes with 10 downloads per month. If you don't back up those 10 downloads you can't redownload them....just like itunes, amazon, rhapsody, walmart, and so on.

When you stop paying the subscription fee, all you've got left is those 10 downloads...and only if you don't lose them. It's a different service than itunes, and people who don't want to be bothered making backups prefer it. People who want to own their tracks don't.

I am now living in the UK and need a UK account for my apple ID but my US account won't let me change it because I have some store credits. Anything Downloaded with a Particular Apple ID is tied to that Apple ID and Cannot be Merged or Transferred to a Different Apple ID.

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
For other music you will have to get it from where you originally obtained it.
