I restored my ipod a touch and lost everything but I don't know if it's backed up on a computer because I've been using my brothers mac. I lost quite a few music purchases and apps. What can I do?
I have a majority of my music backed on another laptop that i can access, and I had downloaded some music from my brothers itunes library that I can get back. As well as apps, I know i can re-download those for free. It's just the music i downloaded that I'm worried about because I don't know if I can get that back. Please help!
ranmat11, you can only download apps and iBooks at no additional cost. For music and videos you only get one download and it is up to you to back it up. You will be charged again if you redownload music and videos.

HT1766 Itunes want me to restore my phone but I don't know if it was backed-up, HELP!!!
I am having a problem with my iphone... I tried to do the IOS 6 update through itunes and it is now prompting me to restore my phone to original settings and my phone is stuck in recovery mode (with the usb connection/itunes icon displayed on the screen).
This is what happened:
I connected my phone to my mac for the first time toady and it atomatically began to sync with itunes... does that mean my phone has been backed-up???
Itunes also prompted me to update my phone to IOS 6 while connected, so I went through the procedure to update.
While my phone was updating, it suddenly stopped and went into recovery mode with the usb/itunes logo showing on the display. No matter what I do, it is now stuck in recovery mode.
When I went back to itunes, it is now saying that it detects an iphone in recovery mode and that I must restore the phone.
I will retore my phone, but I don't want to loose all of the picture of my kids... were my pictures backed-up while my phone was automatically syncing with itunes? Is there a way to check?
This *****If you have been regularly syncing it should be. You can double check though..
on windows edit > preferences > devices > look in the box and see the dates and times for device backups

Installing ipod nano on a windows computer after it has been used on a Mac
I am trying to get an ipod Nano to work on windows after it was originally synched to a MacBook.
I have iTunes 8, and we've already unistalled and reinstalled it once. iTunes recognizes the iPod, and says "iTunes has detected a Macintosh formatted iPod. You must restore this iPod before you can use it on windows." When I try to click the "Restore" button in iTunes, it generates an error message that says the iPod cannot be updated because I'm not connected to the iternet....but I am.
Ideas?PS I know that sun's Jar files are supposed to be
executable on win32 platforms with JRE2 installed;
however, I tested it out on some computers with that
runtime installed(by the installer progrma from sun)
and for some reason or another, it didn't do anything
when I clicked on the jar archive...That's because you didn't have the main-class in the manifest file.
That's the easiest way, you have a jar and a double click on win and it runs. -
I have had this email address since apple offered family accounts for me.com. For the past 4 years, someone has been using my email to sign up for accounts. They have repeatedly tried to reset my password. I keep getting emails from companies. I have been very nice and responded back to personal emails telling them that they must have typed in the wrong address. I have emailed different companies asking them to delete any and all accounts using my email address for me.com or icloud.com. This person has even been using my email to use to turn in her homework on turnitin.com. I have asked them to please alert the school to let the person know that this is not their address and please not to use it. I have recently discovered that they are trying daily to reset my password. Is there anything I can do besides changing my email?
OMG, there is someone else who is experiencing this? I swear, I have used up all patience and trying to be kind when dealing with this.
I created my primary email account [email protected] a very long time ago. Of course, it morphed into [email protected] and most recently into [email protected]. This behavior occurs with all three variations, but most often with the "@me.com" address. In trying to understand the timeline, I figured it started occurring about the time of the iOS release 5.
I get approximately 10 account creation emails a week. Mine range from harmless to education to medical to ****. At one time I was getting as many as a hundred a week! I also send very politely worded emails to the companies explaining that someone tried to sign up with one of the variations of my emails and ask them to delete any or all accounts associated with them. Unless of course, they are ones that I want to keep.
The problem with telling companies to delete the accounts is that it is now sitting out there for someone to setup the account AGAIN. I have started simply requesting a new password or password reset, change the public facing data and leave it be. This will only work with accounts that require email validation, though. I have stumbled upon accounts while trying to create my own! Again, I simply change the public facing info and password and email. It then becomes mine. I've had a couple of accounts - a Disney site - that won't reset the password or delete the accounts because I can only validate the email address and none of the other account info! Sigh.
I have worked with Apple many times, sometimes for many hours trying to resolve this issue. Apple tends to be myopic and generally sticks with "someone just mistyped the email"... but it happens much too frequently for this to be true. I know it is a popular and coveted email address and perhaps people think they can force the company to recognize it as their own. I've also had requests for the Apple accounts to be reset.
Recently had an interesting chat on Apple's Messages with an 8 year old who swears that it is her friend's iChat account. She admonished me to be nicer if I was sharing it with her friend. I couldn't make her understand that her friend was incorrect in believing it was hers.
I see that you've written your message way back in February and I see no other follow ups. Have you been successful in making this stop? -
It usually connects automatically, but as of two days ago, it hasn't been, not even when I enter it manually. I restored it, which in return updated it to iOS 6.0, but it still isn't picking up any wifi.

You should be able to use the OpenVPN Connect app running on your iPad to connect your iPad to the VPN directly. It is an official OpenVPN client for iOS devices.
In what way is it "not compatible"? Have you tried it? Tunnelblick is an OpenVPN client, so your school's VPN is using the OpenVPN protocol. That means any OpenVPN client should be able to access it. (It is possible, but unlikely, that your school uses encryption that is not available on the iPad, but that would be very unusual.)
Otherwise, a remote control app on your iPad would let you control your Mac at home. "Back to My Mac", for example, would allow you to control your Mac remotely. The tricky part of this is that usually a VPN is set up to send all Internet traffic via the VPN server, and I'm not sure how that would work with "Back to My Mac". -

You can create a smart playlist in iTunes that has "iCloud Status" is "Matched" or "Upload" - that will tell you what's in the cloud. -
I have old email address's I used for iTune music purchases and cannot change password on several old accounts. Now some of the music I purchased I can not download and authorize it on my device. What can I do password security does not match my birthdate on two of the accounts. Apple can not send me email with a password authorization on several current accounts that I have with them. How can I contact Apple with this annoying problem I can not fix.
settings - app/iTunes store - sign out and sign back in with your new id.
Note - if your older apps needs an update it will use your old apple id and password, as Apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchase it.

If you weren't able to sync the purchases to a computer previously and now your iPod needs to be restored so you can't sync it now, then you may be out of luck and will need to purchase your content again. Officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications and iBooks. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places.
You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". You'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) ") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.
