I seem to have deleted my iphoto while cleaning out my hard drive, can i recover it with the pictures it had on it?

while clearing out my hard drive on my MacBook Pro 10.6.8 i managed to delete my iphoto is it possible for me to relocate it? along with the photos it had on it?

If your Mac came with iPhoto preinstalled, before the AppStore was introduces, iPhoto should be on the system install DVDs that came with with your Mac. Look for the DVD with the bundled additional applications.
If you deleted your iPhoto library, restore it from your backup - you need to restore "iPhoto Library", which is located in your Pictures folder by default.
How long ago did this happen? If it was only recently, data recovery software could be used to restore jpeg images, but this kind of software is not available for free,

  • HT201250 i seem to have deleted all my iTunes songs from my hard drive

but i can't work out how to restore the audio files to my hard drive using Time Machine. That hard drive including all the audio files must be saved in there somewhere, I just don't know where. My various iTunes folders all seem to be incomplete, so maybe the bulk of the iTunes audio was stored elsewhere. At any rate, it should all be backed up in Time Machine but I find it very confusing to use.
But equally, all my music should be in the iCloud so can i not just restore the music from there anyway?
Yours confused as to how I managed to delete my iTunes files anyway...

  • I think I screwed up my migration.  I turned off the sub-accounts on my Mobile Me Family Pack before I hit the button to move my account.  Now it seems I have delete all of my family's email accounts.  Can they be re-activated/retrieved?

I think I screwed up my migration.  I turned off the sub-accounts on my Mobile Me Family Pack before I hit the button to move my account.  Now it seems I have deleted all of my family's email accounts.  Can they be re-activated/retrieved?  The instructions at that point were vague to non-existent.

I'm tryin to move my account to iCloud too and I have sub accounts. I deleted a couple of the sub accounts and found that one of them (didn't try the other one) couldn't  login anymore. I haven't moved to iCloud yet and I was able to re-establish the sub account. I had another go at moving to iCloud and noticed that I may not need to delete the sub accounts, it just warns that I won't be able to add or delete them after moving to iCloud. Maybe that is the way to go. Move the main account to iCloud without deleting the sub accounts?? Maybe this will leave the sub account owners able to move in their own time.
I don't know if you can fix what you have done if you have already moved to iCloud with your main account. Might be time for you visit the local Genius Bar or call Apple support.
I may try a visit to my local Genius Bar over the weekend if I can make an appointment ;-)

  • Can some please provide instructions on how to import an iPhoto library from an old Mac to a new Mac without getting a bunch of duplicates?  I tried transferring my pictures using an external hard drive and then copying it to the Pictures folder on my Mac

Can someone please provide instructions on how to import an iPhoto library from an old Mac to a new Mac without getting a bunch of duplicates?  I tried transferring my pictures using an external hard drive and then copying it to the Pictures folder on my new Mac.  I ended up getting a bunch of duplicates. My old Mac has an older version of iPhoto while the new Mac has iPhoto '11.  Is that the cause of the problem?  Please advise.  Thanks.

Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

  • Issues with using my iPhoto library on my external hard drive.  Very slow to open and pictures disappear in thumbnail view.

I have recently transferred my iPhoto Library to my external hard drive (WD MyBook Live) and have some questions.  Since I have done this and used the "alt + option" to select it as my default library I have been having some issues.  When using the library on the external drive as my default drive it takes a very long time to load compared to when it was on my macbook's hard drive. Is this normal?  Also, once it does load the thumbnails are only viewable when scrolling quickly through the photos and they are very blurry.  However, if I were to select one randomly (because of this problem I have no way of knowing which one I'm selecting) it brings it up in the edit view and it is a crystal clear picture.
Is there a way to fix these issues?  I'd love to be able to use the iPhoto Library off the external drive to free up space on my macbook but if it isn't going to work as streamlined as it would on my macbook hard drive.  I have not yet deleted the original iPhoto Library from my macbook because I did not want to do so until I knew the new iPhoto library on the external drive was working properly.  Does this make a difference?
    Please help!

The problem lies with occasional dropouts that can corrupt the library's database files if they are being written to as the time of dropout.  It's the nature of wireless networks.  If you have a very strong signal throughout and are willing to take a chance then go for it.
But as for the speed, it must be iPhoto 11 and it's complexity causing the slowness. I had tried using a library on an EHD connected to my iMac from my laptop wirelessly with iPhoto 7 or 8 and it was pretty fast.  I think it was 7 before faces and places came into being.
Send a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html to improve wireless performance, etc.

Hello, we have both Creative Cloud membership and Creative Cloud for team. Can you help me with the difference and if i need to have both? We have 9 employees that are using it. Just not sure if i'm paying for something i don't need.
    Thank you

Please refer to Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud / Common Questions
CC is for retail use with 20 GB of storage space, CCT is where number of seats are purchased & assigned by one program admin where each seat gets 100GB of storage space.
You can not have both the CC & team in one account as it will only provide you added storage space of 120 GB but you can activate the CC any of them or either of them twice as CC is based on Adobe ID.

  • I've seemed to have deleted my iPhoto app and can't get back to my desktop.  It had numerous pictures of mine included and can't find them in my hard drive where do i find it and restore it?

I've been trying to do some cleanup on my mac, and somehow have removed my iPhoto from my desktop and can't get it back, i don't know how to get it back.  I've had years of pictures on it and am going to be pretty hot if i can't get it back up.

Is it in your Applications Folder?
    If not
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • I transferred photos from iphoto to a Seagate external hard drive and now I cant access the photos

When I plug in the hard drive to my macbook, I can see the iPhoto folder but it tells me that it is not accessible since Time Machine is running.
All I want to do is pull a few pictures off of the hard drive.  So frustrating!  Any help is greatly appreciated!

I tried turning ogg Time Machine but I am still unable to access any photos.  The actual message that I receive when I try opening iPhoto on the hard drive is 'You can't open the application iPhoto because it is in a Time Machine backup.'  Am I trying to open the wrong thing?  I have looked for photo files but didnt find any.  Thanks for your help!

  • I am using an early 13 inch MacBook and have kept it going for five years without problems. The hard drive is getting unreliable and needs changing. How large a hard drive can I replace it with?

Sorry for the long title, this is the first time I have used this place.
The local Mac engineering support in Jamaica is a small shop in town. They told me I could go up to 750 gig, which appeals to me as I use this for my business. And oldie but goodie this Mac. It is upgraded in memory to 4 gig and is operating on Lion Server.
Recently I have been getting disk errors, which indicates the drive is getting too old and may fail soon.
So, before I buy I figured asking what the truth is. 750 gig? Really?

Physically, the limitation is the 9.5mm drive thickess. AFAIK, most if not all 750GB HDDs have that thickess. The next size, 1TB, has the issue that many of the brands are 12.5mm thick and won't fit, but you may get lucky and find a "thin" model in this size.
Other thing to watch is the speed. 7200 vs. 5400 RPM is attractive, but the faster disks will run a tad hotter, which can be an issue in a single-fan 13"
Lastly, noise. Compare the noise ratings as published in the spec sheets. Western Digital disks, for example, are usually noisier than other brands. Perfectly nornal and does not detract in performance or longevity, but having the thing buzz at you while trying to catch a quick email check at night or watch a subdued movie may be annoying.
When you do decide and get down to doing the deed, be sure to get one of those cans of compressed air or "dusters" and thoroughly clean out the guts of the Mac. Especially around the blades of the fan, where dust tends to stick and degrade the cooling capacity of the component.

  • I accidentally deleted the documents folder from my hard drive. can I recover it?

I accidentally deleted the documents folder (and its contents) from my ibook hard drive. Can I recover it?

It takes a really expensive data recovery service to get back things that have been deleted.
You could try Data Rescue 3, if you're desperate to get the documents back.
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
    System Requirements:
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue_sysreq.php
If you want to try this, stop using the iBook immediately, and wait until you get the recovery software because every time you save something to your hard drive (even if it's only a link in your browser history), you risk overwriting the files you deleted.

  • I have vlc player movies on my external hard drive; can i watch these on the apple ipad?

i have vlc player movies on my external hard drive; i normally watch them on an windows laptop; can i watch these on the apple ipad?

    <edited>
There's a vlc streamer app in the app store, but you would need to also install the streamer helper on the device where the movies reside. This works between my macbook and my ipad, but if you cannot access the external drive and install the helper file, then probably not

  • What internal hard drive can i use to upgrade the one i have in my 13" MacBook Pro mid 2010 model?

I have a MacBook Pro 13" mid 2010 model machine. Love it to bits but i want more applications, more documents, more music and more iPad apps backed up, problem is I am running out of space. I want to update the hard drive inside my computer, so is this possible and what hard drive is recommended? Any help is greatly appreciated

Any 2.5" HDD will do the trick. Your computer will run up to SATA II (3Gbps).
But I would suggest perhaps getting a Data Doubler + swapping your DVD Drive for another HDD, so you have 2 internal HDD's?

  • When i try to copy my iphoto library to my external hard drive i get this error message, The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items.

    iphoto 8.1.2
    os x 10.6.8
    I'm on a macbook 2ghz processor and 2gb memory
my iphoto library is about 80gb
I'm trying to back it up so that I can delete the photos and clear up space on my HD.
I already made sure that my permissions on iphoto were set to read and write.

You answered half of the questions - and WiFi is not a possible way to use an iPhoto library
    And critically
What is the format of the EHD (it must be Mac OS extended (journaled) )
And for using the iphoto library you can not access it wirelessly - it must be on a fast hard wired connection like ThunderBolt, FireWire or USB 2 or 3

    Hey jcaqualung,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues with iTunes on your Windows Vista machine. The following resource may provide a solution. I would also recommend installing iTunes on the internal hard drive of your computer, as opposed to the external drive.
