I suggest three options for upgrading to FCPX

I suggest three options for upgrading to FCPX, the first is to increase the amount of keywords and the second is a mark appears in clips synchronized and the third is to be able to tell the program which clip it should use to name the clips synchronized, for example, have three files, cam 01 and cam 02 audio today when selecting these three files to FCPX names the new file name using synchronized audio but need to edit that new name is created using the name of one of the two cameras. grateful

    Initially I had downloaded Document 2 (Free) application to view my doc, ppt and xls files. I was not able to edit the files so there was an option for upgrade the Document-2 free to paid version. I have upgraded the Document 2 application. But on my iPad now there are to application present Docemnt-2 (Free) and Document-2. I am not able to open any existing document using the upgraded version of application. How do I connect all the existing txt,PPT,XLS doccument to the new upgraded Document-2 application and then to edit it on my iPad.

    As suggested I had deleted the free application and did a hard restart the iPad. I have again copied the document using iTunes. But I am not able to edit any document using this app. Document 2 (paid version) supports editing features of the txt/ xls /ppt files. Is there any problem while loading the Document 2 app. If I reload then do I need to purchase again?

  • Best option for upgrading to CS 6

    Hello,
    I need some help. I currently have CS 5 and 5.5 installed across 7 PCs and 1 MAC within the marketing department in my company. What would be the best option for upgrading all of them to CS 6 Master Collection. (how many PCs can I use a license on? How many licenses would I have to purchase to install on all the machines?)
    Thanks.

    There is no ambiguity here: You buy 7+1 licenses. Though you have 2 activations per license, they are not meant to run your facility on the cheap. I suggest you read the EULA....

  • My iTunes will ONLY backup my iPhone ONCE *SO* VERY quickly, almost as if it's done nothing... (not the three options for rollback as promised) HELP! Please Read...

    Hi there,
       thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this, but, my iTunes will perform a backup on my iPhone ONCE. By which I mean, it will do another new backup again if I want it to, and that's all fine... but it's supposed to hold (I think) THREE states of backup that the user has saved at various points in order that the user can choose and rollback/restore from whichever one they want.
    There is none of that. I get the drop-down menu if I choose to restore... but it's pointless as there's only ever one option.
    At the moment, no matter how close together I perform the backups, or how far apart... I get ONE backup saved in my iTunes.
    As far as I can tell this is also ONE backup between iCloud or the computer. i.e. I don't get one for each. Just whichever I performed most recently.
      iTunes absolutely DID NOT used to do this. I used to get the three options and it took a little bit of a wait for the backup process to go through fully.
      Can anybody help or shed some light on this?
    As a sidenote: It's slightly concerning that the backup process it performs is now lightning quick and it almost seems as if it's doing nothing, when in fact my iPhone is absolutely, irresponsibly rammed with everything... hence the worrying need for backups and solving this issue etc. etc.
      Please can anyone help me with this, or even give a little support?
    P.S. Yes, I fully anticipate being told not to have my iPhone so stuffed etc. etc. It's got about 1-2gb free and I figure you should get to use what you pay for
      Thank you so much in advance.

       I have to say, this is so weird because it's actually become this way in the past week maybe, and I'm sure me saying this here will be disputed, ridiculed and belittled, and that's absolutely fair, but I've got to say it... up until a few days ago, my iTunes sync/backup area really would keep more than one backup for my one, single iPhone. They were all timed and dated with a drop-down menu (which appeared if I clicked the restore button) to choose which one I wanted to roll back to, for example. Sure, I'd read about the three backups thing etc. etc. and perhaps I got that wrong or misunderstood, but I can honestly say, I only ever had at the most two backups, that I could drop-down and choose to restore from. They were there. Same iPhone. Different dates.
       At the time, when this seemed to be the case, the backing-up process took quite a while. I would leave it to progress while I went and made a cup of tea, come back and it still wasn't finished running. So, not really AGES, but a little while.
       Now, when I perform a backup, the progress bar almost shoots across to a finish. I'll 'fess up... that worries me most of all. I can live without the luxury of a menu of backups... but if it does it once, I'd like to be sure it does it at all.
    Much more importantly though, thank you for your replies so far.
    Any further input, even if it's to belittle or shame is totally welcome. I'd like to understand this a bit more.
    Thanks again.

  • Three options for Exceptions ... opinions?

    I've got a method login() which has many reasons why it might fail. As I see it I've got three options, and I'm interested in opinions on them, or any additional options ...
    1) public void login(String userName, String password) throws ApplicationException, LoginException, InvalidPasswordException, InvalidUsernameException, UserDeceasedException, UserNotFoundException, AdminUserLoginException {}
    Where LoginException extends ApplicationException, and all the other exceptions extend LoginException
    This means that clients using the method can catch the exact exception they're interested in:
    try
    user.login(uname, pword);
    catch (InvalidPasswordException e)
    // process for invalid password
    catch (InvalidUsernameException e)
    // process for invalid username
    catch ... etc
    2) public void login(String pUserName, String pPassword) throws HouseApplicationException, LoginException {}
    Where LoginException extends ApplicationException
    This means that clients using the method wanting to know what went wrong need to do instanceof:
    try
    user.login(uname, pword);
    catch (LoginException e)
    if (e instanceof InvalidPasswordException)
    // process for invalid password
    else if (e instanceof InvalidUsernameException)
    // process for invalid username
    else if ...
    3) public void login(String pUserName, String pPassword) throws HouseApplicationException, LoginException {}
    Where LoginException extends ApplicationException
    And LoginException has an overloaded constructor that takes a Login Exception Type (set as constants in the Login class):
    public LoginException(String message, int loginExceptionType)
    And a getter on this exception type attribute.
    So when throwing the exception, the method would call:
    throw new LoginException("Users password is incorrect", Login.INVALID_PASSWORD);
    This means that the clients using the method need to check this as follows:
    try
    user.login(uname, pword);
    catch (LoginException e)
    if (e.getLoginExceptionType() == Login.INVALID_PASSWORD)
    // process for invalid password
    else if (e.getLoginExceptionType() == Login.INVALID_USERNAME)
    // process for invalid username
    else if ...
    I hate option 1 because the method declaration looks horrible, and if you add another exception, and you continue with the "paradigm", you'd have to declare the new exception as also being thrown, and alter all the clients to deal with it.
    I'm don't have any opinion as to whether option 2 is better than option 3 or vice versa.
    I'm interested what others think ...
    Thankyou!
    k

    I've got a method login() which has many reasons why
    it might fail. Wrong design. Wrong security handling.
    Exceptions are for handling abnormal conditions. You are using them to handle normal conditions.
    An abnormal condition would be 'the database is gone'. A normal condition is wrong user/password. Your method should be returning a variable that indicates the state of the login.
    You also have a security problem in that you are specifically handling user and password seperately. They should be handled as a unit. You should never tell anyone that the 'user' is wrong or the 'password' is wrong. Doing so makes it easier to break the security. You just tell them that the login failed.

  • Options for Upgrade from OSX 10.4 to Leopard

    Hi all, I started this question over here:
    http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2592383&tstart=0
    and BDAqua recommended I start a new thread, so here goes:
    My computer has been crazy slow for the last year or two. I have a MacBook with Mac OS X (10.4.11). We've think we want to reinstall the OS, I don't have the original install disks.
    BAqua recommended paying the $29 for the Leopard upgrade, but I noticed here http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html that it says I need to get the full product since I'm on OSX 10.4 - is that true?. Here's what it says on the bottom right:
    Upgrading from Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger.
    If your Intel-based Mac is running Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger, purchase the Mac Box Set, which is a single, affordable package that includes Mac OS X v10.6.3 Snow Leopard; iLife, with the latest versions of iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, iWeb, and iDVD; and iWork, Apple’s productivity suite for home and office including Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.
    I'm not sure it's worth $169 to upgrade the OS - especially considering we don't even know if it's a hardware problem.
    Also, can I do a complete reinstall with the upgrade disk anyways? My husband has worked on PCs for a long time, but wasn't sure what to do about a Mac that has what appears to be a lot of corrupted settings. He tried to create a new user and copy the setting over (seems like common advice on these forums), but my computer hangs forever when trying to create a new user. He figures it's faster to just reinstall than try and fix it one problem at a time. Thoughts?
    Thanks so much!

    There have been reports from users who have bought the $29. package
    and used it to install a newer Snow Leopard 10.6.x system in a supported
    Mac computer model that was capable of using that version.
    Snow Leopard 10.6 is the current production version; Leopard 10.5 is not.
    With enough free space (capacity, unused) on the computer's hard disk
    drive, a new system could be installed; an Upgrade & Install, if you had
    a newer retail install DVD. But too full of a hard disk drive, and it won't
    work; neither would an Archive & Install, where you choose to have the
    new system save and use the old user account & setup info. If the Mac
    has too much stuff on the hard disk drive, it has to be dealt with first.
    And the computer system itself is separate from the user acct issues.
    The 10.6 upgrade is a full installer, according to those who have used it;
    but the better deal would be to get the large 'complete package deal' due
    to the addition of the other software, each in a retail package version, to
    add those other apps that the upgrade installer by itself won't include.
    And the older Tiger-level versions are fairly outdated to try and use in the
    Mac once you've upgraded the OS from 10.4.11 to Snow Leopard 10.6.x.
    Usual issues as you describe that are affecting your computer use, tend
    to be related to a few factors; issues contributing to slowness and sluggish
    performance, include: a too-full hard disk drive, in adequate RAM installed
    to run certain Apps. And a combination of a fuller than desired hard disk
    drive plus inadequate available RAM installed, can make a system slow.
    RAM is on-chip random access memory; HDD capacity is storage space.
    Not to confuse these; however the computer will use larger sections of free
    hard disk drive space. Unused capacity, used as Virtual Memory helps the
    Mac OS X system and Apps you may be using, handle the workload and
    temp files, swap space, Virtual Memory and other workings, are comprom-
    ised by a lack of sufficient free or unused hard disk drive capacity.
    Also, in addition to the above, certain cache files in the system, and other
    items addressed by routine and preventative maintenance, can grow to a
    point where they can slow the system. So, trying to install an upgrade over
    a problem not directly related to the system, only will layer the first problem.
    The symptoms you describe indicate the problem is probably due to the
    hard drive being near full capacity; or perhaps it has bad sectors and a
    part of the hard disk drive is not longer accessible to the Mac OS X, so the
    computer is working around the lack of space needed as Virtual Memory;
    and has gotten way slow in trying to find temporary work space, under load.
    IF the internal drive in the computer is more than 75 to 85% full, it likely is
    overdue for some clearing out; image files, music files, libraries of these
    can use up plenty of hard disk drive storage capacity. So much, the Mac
    may start to work very hard, and then the usual thing is hard drive failure.
    So, you should consider using an external drive enclosure that can boot
    the computer model you have (some can't.) If your Mac has USB 2.0
    ports, and FireWire400/800, then an external enclosure sporting both
    kinds of ports (FW + USB2.0) with its own power supply; and making a
    complete computer drive clone, on the external drive.
    Once a suitable and boot-capable copy/clone is created on an external
    hard disk drive, and it is tested to see it can start and run the Mac, you
    could choose to use Disk Utility from the clone's utility folder, and have
    it 'repair disk permissions' on the booted clone. Then, it may be OK to
    secure erase (one-pass) the hard disk drive, using Disk Utility's optional
    tools, and choose a partition map (GUID-type) and reformat to HFS+.
    Then, the system which was cloned to the external drive could be re-
    cloned back to the internal hard disk drive. The same Clone utility can
    be used to move or copy an OS X system back & forth. One that I use
    is a free-running donationware/download, named Carbon Copy Cloner.
    Since the computer have/had shipped with a special version of Tiger
    10.4, (Intel-based Macs with Tiger) this would not be able to use a
    retail copy of the Tiger DVD to do a re-install. You could call Apple
    Sales/Support, and tell them the Serial Number of your Mac, and ask
    about getting a replacement original software packet for your computer.
    This would cost a nominal fee; or go for the $29. Snow Leopard one.
    The product specialist you'd talk to about this, at 1-800-MY-APPLE
    may be able to direct you somewhat, if the original Tiger 10.4 replace-
    ment disc set is no longer available for your computer.
    A concern, would be if you were somehow able to install an upgrade to
    a later system into your computer, as it is now (with issues) the problem
    could be worse, since a too-full hard disk drive can be damaged or be
    a cause of software/data loss once you over-fill the drive.
    Also, a portable computer, among others that see a lot of use, may need
    a new/replacement hard disk drive by now; after three to five years run-
    time. They do wear out, and the more they have to work to do read/write
    cycles of use, such as when inadequate chip RAM is installed, to swap
    files and use HDD free space as Virtual Memory, things wear out faster.
    So, the system itself isn't likely the cause of the problem; but is a symptom.
    And you need to have some system discs. The replacement of original discs
    would give you the correct Apple Hardware Test it shipped with; this is not
    on any other version OS X install disc. And the original disc set should be
    included with a computer when it is sold, traded, or gifted away. Plus, any
    other OS X version it may have been upgraded with. To cover all bases.
    Perhaps someone else has a shorter version of this line of thinking, with a
    few good web links to helpful sites? I have fielded three local interruptions
    not related to computers while trying to write what I thought was a simple
    reply to a question; but find it is easier to know the answer than get it out.

  • Options for upgrading from weblogic 10.3.0 for 'workshop' applications?

    We have a few upgraded Workshop applications that we need to keep running and don't want to have to rewrite - they are successfully deployed on a 10.3.0.0 server. As of 10.3.1 Oracle seems to have dropped all support for workshop. Is there a way to upgrade the 10.3.0.0 server such that the apps will run, or to run these apps on a 10.3.2 or later server? If so, does documentation exist? Thanks!

  • Best option for upgrading from 3g to 4g.  Amazon yes or no?

    I currently have 2 smartphones on a 3g unlimited plan, a Samsung Fascinate and a Droid X.  I want to get a Galaxy S3 and Droid DNA to replace them.  I've seen both phones on Amazon for 30 and 50 bucks respectively when upgrading.
    What's my best option here?  I understand that you can grandfather a 3g unlimited to 4g unlimited but only if you buy the new phone for Full price from Verizon.  If I were to switch to a tiered plan, should I change the plan first, then buy the Amazon phones?  Or would that incur extra charges and more plan changes?  Any known caveats/problems for using Amazon to upgrade the phone?

    Yes, you CAN keep that unlimited data plan even if you move to 4G.
    Here's a good article to read:
    http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2320134
    They advise you to do it in the store. Don't finalize anything until you are CERTAIN they've done it right and you still have your unlimited plan.

  • Options for upgrading 10gas Apache in place to support newer SSL protocols

    We currently still have 10gas portal (I know!) running on Solaris.  There is a current project to move away from this but in the meantime, Firefox v 37 and above now rejects the SSL versions that the 10gAS Apache SSL provides.
    We are looking for options, any options to get around this for a few months!
    Can the current 10gAS Webserver be rebuilt to use a later version of Open SSL?   or
    Is there a  way to seemlessly integrate a new WebTier OHS install under the covers of the existing 10gAS?   or
    Does someone have any other approaches to consider?
    If someone has actually done something like this, it would be great.
    We are certainly not experts in HTTP, SSL, etc so we may need some hand holding to get this done.
    Please advise ASAP as the user (who we've been asking to upgrade this sw for years) is know impatient to see a solution to this mess,

  • P300 has three options for 256 GB SSD, two of which seem identical

    I'm strongly considering a ThinkStation P300 Tower. I would like my primary/boot drive to be an SSD, and as discussed here, that means I should select the SSD as the "First Hard Drive Bay" in the online configurator. For the P300, there are three different entries for 256 GB SSDs (I'll label them (i), (ii), and (iii)): (i) 2.5" 256GB SATA SolidState Drive [add $200.00]
    (ii) 2.5" 256GB SATA Solid State Drive (OPAL) [add $200.00]
    (iii) 256GB SATA 2.5" Solid State Drive (OPAL) [add $200.00] As you can see, all three are the same price (i.e., $200 USD above the base price). What is the difference between (i), (ii), and (iii)? OK, so obviously (ii) and (iii) have OPAL, whereas (i) doesn't. I'm not a computer expert, and I hardly know what OPAL is; a web search tells me that it is a standard by which data on a hard drive can be encrypted such that if the drive is stolen, the data has some additional layer of protection. My thinking is that even if I purchase an OPAL drive, I would need to somehow enable that functionality if I wanted it. So, maybe (ii) and (iii) are OPAL capable but not OPAL ready "out of the box"? Anyway, OPAL aside, what is the difference between (ii) and (iii)? Well, as far as I can tell, they are the same. I suppose one possibility is that they ARE the same and the duplicate entry is just a typo. Another possibility is that they are drives with the same, or essentially the same, specs but made by different manufacturers (Samsung? Seagate? Intel? etc.). Inbound Sales didn't know. I don't necessarily expect you to know, but do you have any idea what is the difference between the three 256 GB SSDs, and especially between (ii) and (iii)? Thanks for your time; you have been SO generous with it!

    Good question, and good catch on the configurator.
    I don't know for sure why the configurator is listing two different drives for (ii) and (iii)...on the surface they appear to be the same.  I have a couple of theories as to why it's showing like that, but I need to go back and confirm before I put those out there as it could just cause a lot of confusion.  Based on what I know of the drives qualified and those actually available, I'd say in the 256GB OPAL class, there are maybe 4 different drives that your system could be built with...likely fewer as I suspect some of those have gone EOL.
    My guess, based on the pricing, is that in reality those selections are essentially the same.  Probably just an oversight that both are listed.
    I'm also looking into why that drive listing is so haphazard overall....it's really difficult to navigate.

  • Options for upgrade from Student?

    Hi,
    I'm currently well out of date with my CS version..currently still on CS3 of production premium (student edition)
    I'm looking to update this..im no longer a student anymore and am looking to upgrade to either production premium (standard edition) or design premium (standard)
    I've read online that I can upgrade from CS3 to CS6..however does this still work if you original copy was a student edition?
    Really dont want to have to buy a whole new set from scratch, so will have to look into just buying individual programs as needed if I can't.
    Have not been able to find an answer anywhere on this one.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Janine
    p.s. Sorry if i posted in the wrong section...

    Yes, commercial upgrades also work with S&T editions, you will just have to handle this through Adobe directly du to the serial number hocuspocus involved.

  • Options for upgrading phone without new contract

    I currently have an I-phone4 and my contract is up.  I want to get a Samsung Galaxy note 2 or 3.  Can I buy a used phone, either from Verizon or elsewhere, and stay on my current plan, which offers unlimited data.  Would Verizon buy back my I-phone 4?
    Thank you,

    Yes, you can 'bring your own phone' and keep your current plan.  Just ensure that the phone is Verizon branded with a clean ESN.  Verizon has a trade-in program, but you probably would do better selling your phone on ebay or swappa.

  • How do I create a dropdown with three options so that only one is visible in a form (non-flowable)

    I'm working on a form which needs to provides three options for the user out of a drop down list. When the user chooses one option, only that subform is to be visible. Two of the three subforms are text fields, and the third subform is a series of fields which are editable by the user.
    How do i create a dropdown with three options in it, so that in each instance only one subform is visible? This needs to happen in the same space on the main form.

    Hi Nellie,
    Here is the form back to you. There were three main issues:
    In order for dynamic behaviour, like showing and hiding, the form must be saved as a Dynamic XML Form in the save-as dialog.
    While you can use a minus sign when naming objects and subforms, it will cause scripts to fail. I have changed the name of the subforms so that they now use an underscore.
    The dropdown had specified values in the Object > Binding palette (1, 2, 3), so the script needs to use these in the if statements.
    When sharing forms on Acrobat.com, the best option is to select the file in your workspace and then click Publish. This will make it available to anyone who has the published URL.
    I hope that helps,
    Niall

  • Options for Planning in Upgrade

    We're currently running BPS in SEM 3.2 and are upgrading our BW to BI 2004s.  We have the option of either:
    a) Upgrading SEM to 6.0 as we upgrade our BW...will we have to go to 4.0, or can we go direct to 6?
    b) Moving BPS to BW 2004s
    c) Migrating BPS to IP in 2004s
    What are the functionality impacts from these three options?  Are there any inherent risks associated?  Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi Sean,
        Here are some thoughts on your questions below:
    A) you should be able to go directly from 3.2 (BW 3.1) directly to 6.0 (NW04s BI).  An intermediate step is not necessary.
    b) not sure exactly what you are suggesting with this.  If you mean stop using SEM-BPS and use BW-BPS this can't really be done.  Once you've installed SEM on your BW box it's there forever.  Therefore you'd have to upgrade to SEM 6.0.  I believe the only way you could avoid SEM 6.0 is a fresh install of BW.  (not sure if I'm understanding your question correctly)
    c)  This option would allow you to enhance the frontend experience for the end users and allow you to leverage the BW frontend components (queries, structures, variables, etc.) in planning.  The drawbacks are that there isn't currently a migration tool so you'll have to do some rework to get there.  In addition if you're using some of the SEM only functions (allocations, etc.) thost functions don't yet exist in IP so they'd have to still be executed via SEM-BPS or rebuilt in fox.
