I transferred all of my music from one computer to another and I can no longer access my old music

I transferred all of my itunes on to an external hard drive then downloaded that to my new computer.  I can't play any music on the new computer that was downloaded on my old computer and it won't load onto my ipod (which was completely erased while trying to download the new music)

How did you move it?
Did you authorize the new computer for the Apple ID that the content was acquired with?

you are allowed two installations and activations with each single user license.
just use your installation cds and your serial number to install on your new computer.
if you no longer need cs6 on your old computer or that old computer has your 2nd installation/activation, open one of the adobe programs and click help>deactivate.  you can then uninstall from your old computer.

You need to attach the computers to one another say with a firewire cable? Or use an external hard drive to copy the Events/Projects and then move the hard drive to the other computer. Are you able to do either one of these first?

  • Asking if I want to locate the original file I just clicked on. I did move my music from one computer to another and am now getting this error on about 50% of my music. HELP! Suggestions?

    Help!
I moved my itunes files from one computer to the other and now I'm getting this error on about 50% of my songs when I click on them.

Moving a library from machine to another can require some preparation if it is to go smoothly.
As long as the files are organized within a media folder in a way that is vaguley consistent with iTunes, i.e. folders for artists, with subfolders for albums, then my FindTracks script might be able to relink the files.

  • I need to move my apps, etc from one computer to another but I can't? Help!

I recently upgraded my phone from an iphone 3gs to and iphone 4s.
At the same time I thought it was the right time to move my itunes from my old laptop (which has no wireless) to a new laptop with wireless so it would be easier to up and download music, etc.
So I had to first sync my Iphone 3gs on my old computer to back everything up but now i have my new phone I can't see any of the apps on my new computer - I tried the homeshare option but all I can see is the music.. I cannot see anything else.
I wouldn't mind just starting over but I don't see why I should pay for some apps twice!
I would really appreciate some help from someone because also what has happened now is the stupid adapter they give you to transfer your info from your iphone 3 to your iphone 4 has damaged my ihpone 3 and it no longer reads my sim card!
    Anyone got any tips?
    thanks
    Theresa

Installing iTunes and signing in to your account does not move your library to a new computer!
The easiest way to move your library between machines is to backup your library to an external drive, then restore that backup to the new machine.
See this User Tip for a suitable backup tool. As long as all the media is inside the iTunes Media folder which in turn is inside the main iTunes folder then the library can be restored to any location with enough room. If the media has been split out into one or more alternate locations then to successfully restore the library all the media must be restored to identical paths to those it was backed up from. You can use the same tool to restore the library to the new machine.
After confirming that your library is working properly on your new machine you should deauthorize the old one if you no longer need to access protected content on it.

  • Tried to transfer songs from one computer to another and lost most of them

I had iTunes installed on one computer but the program was removed so I reinstalled it on another computer and thought that the songs on my iPod would automatically be uploaded into iTunes. There was a screen that popped up that asked if I wanted to replace the existing playlist from the old computer with the new libray. I mistakenly selected yes and now all of the songs I had on my iPod are now gone. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to get those back somehow? Help me please!
    Dell     Very Important

Pressing "Yes" when iTunes brings up the dialogue window asking whether you want to replace the songs on your iPod with the songs in iTunes unfortunately does exactly what it says. If you linked to an empty iTunes it will have erased your iPod as there were no songs to replace yours with. There are some data recovery programs on the market but I don't know how technically or cost effective they are. Here's an example I found using Google : iPod Data Recovery

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Contact Apple through iTunes Store Support, and explain that you have forgotten your 3 security questions, that you can reset your password, but doing so doesn't reset your security questions.
Explain that after resetting your password, you are still asked for the answers you have forgotten, before you can gain access to My Apple ID > Manage your account > Password & security, which is where you need to be to change your answers.
Remember, support will receive hundreds, if not thousands of requests per day, some from people trying it on, others with little explanation and others that are written extremely poorly. Take the time to explain your situation properly, be precise and concise, brief but comprehensive.

  • Transferring Mail settings/inbox/etc from one computer to another

I need to transfer the Mail from an iMac running Tiger to a Macbook running Leopard. I have the Mail folder from the Library on an external HD and have that plugged into the Macbook. I copied that to the Library on the Macbook and tried to import things from there. It's not working. I remember doing this a few years ago from a G4 to a MBP but I forget exactly what I did. Suggestions?

quit mail on both computers and copy the folder /users/username/library/mail AND the file /users/username/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist from the old computer to the corresponding locations on the new one. start Mail and it should look as it did on the old computer.

  • Moved InDesign from one computer to another and problems with that

    Hi,
New to Adobe so please, if I'm posting in the wrong spot or the wrong way feel free to politely tell me where to go.
    Using Windows7/64Bit
    Adobe InDesign V8.0
We recently purchased this product for one of our users. Worked and had no complaints.
User's laptop exhibited signs of imminent departure soon after installation - replaced laptop with new unit and retained old laptop.
User immediately complained that some features were 'greyed out'.
Firstly drew my attention to the 'Paragrah Styles' in the toolbox or menu on the right hand side. User had created, what she refers to, as a shortcut menu on this panel on the right hand side.
Found a thread indicating method for repairing damaged preferences.
Backed up both the directories found under:
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign\Version 8.0\en_US
    C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign\Version 8.0\en_US
Copied same folders and content from old laptop and you wouldn't believe it but it worked a treat.
However, user had failed to point out that none of the other features were working also. Eg. Pages, Layers, Switches etc.
It seems that the options appear on this panel on the right hand side but you cannot interact with them at all. Whilst a number of different pages appear in the Pages tab, none are selectable
Any assistance would be gratefully received,
    With thanks, in advance,
    Martin

    Hi,
Firstly apologies for posting a question then leaving it for so long. Illness can never be scheduled in :/
Secondly, Bob, you were 100% correct. Fonts were set to 125% and Aero was enabled. I reduced font size and also disbaled Aero and it immediately fixed the problem.
Now, the question is which one of the 2 was more likely the problem as I foolishly applied both fixes at the same time. The answer would be the font size as Aero was also enabled on the old laptop which was working OK.
Many thanks for the responses, many thanks for your help and tips my hat to Bob - well done.
PS I did originally do a full install onto the new laptop.

  • Move email history from one computer to another so I can access

I have purchased a new computer and I would like all my email history moved to the new computer so I can access. I have copies the files to my harddrive but do not know how to get Thunderbird to open the email in their program.

  • Transferring external iTune library from one computer to another

I am having great difficulty in changing my external iTunes library from my old MBP laptop to my new iMac 5k.
My entire iTunes library is stored on an external drive and can be accessed directly with my MBP. When I started up iTunes on my new iMac, it created a new empty library in the MUSIC folder. What I want to do is connect my new iMac to the external library directly. I can see it when I turn on HOME SHARING but only when iTunes is running on my MBP, which is useless since my MBP will now be seldom used. I have of course on the iMac, changed the library location in the advanced preferences to the external location, to no avail. I do not want to keep any media files on the iMac for capacity reasons.
To compound the problem, I cannot seem to sync my new iPhone 6+ to the original external library, only the new empty one!
Surely this ought to be a simple job, transferring an external iTunes library from one computer to another! Am I missing something obvious here?

Wow, what a quick response! Thanks, Limnos. I guess it was bleeding' obvious, and I should have thought of it before. Such a simple solution!
On a related matter, I also have just realised that the iTunes iOS backups are saved on the internal computer drive in a folder called MOBILESYNC rather than on an external drive, thus chewing up a lot of capacity on my SSD. Others reading this response may be interested to know that it is easy to have iTunes save the iOS backups to any external drive using a symbolic link in this directory. Go to
    http://support.digidna.net/hc/en-us/articles/203504123-Storing-your-iPhone-Backu ps-on-an-Alternate-Location
    for the details.
However, note that iBooks will NOT let you use this work-around, pathetic app that it is.

  • Trying to move VI from one computer to another w/ all sub VI's

    Hi all
New to the community, LabView, and computer programming; needless to say, I need some help. I'm trying to move a VI from one computer to another, and this VI has a number of subVI's used in it. When I tried to move the VI itself, I'm not able to run it on the new computer because the subVIs aren't there; in their place are a number of gray question marks. I figure I need to go find the subVI's on the other computer and move them over as well, but (a) the computers I'm working on are so disorganized and jumbled that I can barely find anything and (b) there's a lot of subVIs that need moving, and doing an individual search for each would take forever. Is there a way I can move the VI over while automoatically taking the subVIs it uses with it?
    Thanks!

The simple solution is the source distribution under the build specifications.
Buy you really should clean up your directory structures.  If you can't quickly find a VI, it is next to useless.  Then I highly recommend getting a source control software to maintain your projects.  Something like Tortois SVN works very well (and is free).

  • Question about moving all iTunes data from one computer to another.

I have a Windows XP. Now I have a windows 7. All of the songs from the XP are available on the new computer via a Z drive. But when I plug my iPod into the new computer it says that it is registered with a different library and asks me if I want to delete all the songs and apps and replace them from the ones on the new library. I don't want that to happen. And all of the apps on the old computer aren't available on the new one. How do I get the apps from one computer to another, and how do I sync my iPod on the new computer without erasing all high scores, app data, songs, and other information? And how do I get a song fro the new computer back to the old one?
    Devin

This is the way I would normally recommend that you migrate your library from one computer to another.
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
If you have content on the new computer that you want to add to the library on the old one then copy that across via network/memory stick etc. before attempting to migrate the library again.
