I try to download a picture from a website and it downloads as a firefox document which is not a picture but a page of symbols...
I right click on a picture in a website to download to my desktop but it downloads as a firefox document.IP downloads the picture..why can't firefox?
You can rename such files and give them a valid file extension for an image file like .jpg or .png to get working images.<br />
If Windows is hiding the file extension and is preventing you from changing it then add quotes around the name ("image.jpg") or rename the file via a CMD prompt window.

Okay, so, fast forward from July to now -
- I've visited my closest Apple store's genius bar twice now. (Over an hour and a half away.)
- My computer spent at least 8 hours behind their closed doors in the workshop
- Several complete erases of the harddrive have taken place
- Most of the Apple geniuses I dealt with were nice and very knowledgeable, but they were and still aren't 100% sure exactly what is wrong with my computer.
The good news is:
- They were able to at least get it running again, with a clean install from their servers of OS X Lion 10.7.5
- They believe that my problems stem from either 1 of 2 things:
- Faulty Hard Drive (even though it is brand new)
- The wrong build of software being installed.
Now, while the wrong build does seem like it could be the problem, it doesn't make sense in the aspect that all of the initial problems began when the first hard drive failed. The same problems continued when I changed out the failed hard drive with the brand spanking new one, and only slightly improved when I was able to successfully install the OS that came with the original disks for my computer. I'm not convinced this thing is back to normal, but hopefully I can make it last through getting a shiny new retina Macbook Pro in the coming future. While it is theoretically possible, it seems unlikely. Was the phone out of your sight? How long did they have it? Why do you believe that this might have happened? If you're concerned, changes the passwords on your various accounts. -
Back then when I had the older update with iTunes i never had this problem with trying to put my mp3 files of music into my iTunes library. Now it doesn't want to be put into the library. Once I try to drag the music file to the iTunes library nothing happens, it just keeps showing a cancellation sign with my mouse. So how can I fix this?

The problem is probably that the index is corrupt and you need to completely re-create it rather than rebuilding individual mailboxes. I have no idea what the situation really is now after having tinkered with the contents of ~/Library/Mail/, though, so the following procedure may or may not work.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, and making sure that there’s enough space available on the startup disk (a few GB, plus the space needed to make a backup copy of the Mail folder), try this:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/. Make a backup copy of this folder, just in case something goes wrong -- e.g. by dragging it to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down.
3. Locate Envelope Index and move it to the Trash. If you see an Envelope Index-journal file there, delete it as well.
4. Open Mail. It will tell you that your mail needs to be “imported”. Click Continue and Mail will proceed to re-create Envelope Index -- Mail says it’s “importing”, but it just re-creates the index if the mailboxes are already in Mail 2.x format.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder. -
How to download a file from a website and save it locally

I have a number of URLs at hand that point to certain class files, e.g.

What i would like to do is to download MyClass.class into a temporary folder on the local disk. Does anyone know how to do this? I've read about HttpURLConnection etc., but its all very confusing!

i install abode - it will download but not install and indicates i have to close firefox before it will download. Also, I try to open a word document from a website - it will download but not open.
You need to close Firefox to install many plugins, including those from Adobe.

You don't "download" anything, and you don't put anything "on Photoshop".
You save your image in your scanning application using whatever file format supported by Photoshop you want (PSD, TIFF, PNG, JPEG, etc.), and save it in whatever folder on your computer you want.
Then you use Photoshop to open your image file wherever you put it. -

I downloaded pictures from my camera and now I can not find them
I downloaded my photos from my camera and I can not find them on my laptop. WHen I try to download them again it tells me that they have already been downloaded and will not allow me to do it again...Help.
First look in the Last Import smart album under Recent:
Then to see what Event they are in Control (right) - click on one of the photos in Last Import and select Show Event from the contextual menu:
You might also check the View ➙ Sort menu for the Events mode to make sure you know where the latest events are being located. If you choose View ➙ Sort ➙ By Date ➙ Descending the newest events will be at the top of the Event window. -

Hi everyone! I'm in need of extreme help. You see, today, two months ago I went out of the country from the United States of America. I took about 1500 pictures ONLY on my iPod touch. When I returned to the United States to my home, I accidentally deleted a little more than 100 pictures. Then, thinking I could get ALL of the pictures back at once, I restored my iPod touch from an iCloud backup I had a couple of days before. Instead of getting all of my pics back, they all got erased. The pictures that I did delete were deleted from Camera Roll AND Photo Stream (iCloud). Then, I was only able to get about 500 pictures back from iCloud. So about 1000 are still gone. When i did the restore, I thought all my pictures would be there, but they weren't and I couldn't possibly figure out why; because a restore from iTunes or iCloud is supposed to restore your device to the settings of the time you backed up your device. All of my other settings were just the way they were supposed tone for the time being, all except my pictures, which contained not one picture in any folder. So EVERYTHING from Cameta Roll was gone, and only about 500 pictures survived. I kept retoring and restoring, hoping they would come back but unfortunately they didn't. Then one time a restored again, I saw all of them back!! But then, within a blink of an eye, they disappeared as soon as I tapped on one picture. Then, I knew they were still in reach, but I just had to find them. Where could those 1000 pictures go? I looked up how to recover deleted photos, but I have to install a software. My computer CANNOT possibly take anymore software on it, my PC is very sensitive and I cannot delete anything off of it. Please please help me. What can I do to get my pictures back? They are memories that I can never EVER EVER get back. Thank you so much.

My "Hanging with Friends" app keeps crashing whenever I try to open it. I have deleted and re-downloaded the app, restarted my iPhone, and even restored my iPhone all together, and nothing is working. How can I get this app to work again?
Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.

I am rebuilding my iTunes library, but still have all the old content on my iPod Classic. I have just download some songs from the iStore and want to add them to the iPod, BUT when I try to sync it asks if I want to delete all content from the iPod and add only the material that I have just downloaded from the Store. I do not want to lose my old content, because it is very extensive.
You are trying to sync to other than the one iTunes library you can sync to. You can copy music from multiple library/computer if you use the manual method of syncing. That method is described here

If you want to make this computer/iTunes library your syncing computer/library you have to restore the iPod on this computer/library. Restoring erases the iPod.
