After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server. I have already tried the resetting with power swich and home button and plugging into computer but it says the "iPhone software update server cannot be contacted." I am locked out of my phone. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue and get the phone working again. I will add that I am now trying to restore it on a different computer with a lower version of itunes, but the computer that it initially happened on had the updated itunes and gave me the same result ... nothing. Thanks for your help in advance.
Try going to recovery mode as described here. You may have to try this more than once to succeed.
Use the original iTunes that the iPhone synced with.

Hi everyone,
I need a little advice.
I was updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 7 yesterday and during the installation/updating process something went wrong (I have no idea what!) But now it is stuck in recovery mode. I have tried and failed to get it out of recovery mode. So I decided, I'll just take the loss and restore it, losing whatever I haven't backed up.
However, when updating and restoring my device I get the some error message each time: Can't restore iphone: error 3194.
I've tried updating iTunes, even trying using iTunes on my other computer, no luck.
So I decided to book a genius bar appointment.
Will they be fit to fix it? Also if not fixable can I get a replacement phone even though it's out of warrenty? And what help or charges occur when out of warrenty?
I would really appriciate any responces!

If that Article does not resolve it... then you have a problem.
Perhaps a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is required..
Be sure to make an appointment first...

That error message may be indicative of the Device being Hacked / jailbroken.... If this is the case then you are on your own.

Not a great analogy, but this is a user-to-user forum, and Apple will not allow discussion of jailbreaking; if someone tried to help with jailbreaking the message would be deleted. However, if you have a jailbroken phone Apple will generally not block a discussion of how to unjailbreak it. The only problem is that not all jailbroken phones can be restored successfully; it depends on the method of jailbreaking (which I can't discuss without THIS message being deleted). -

If you have software used to perform unauthorized modifications to the iOS device, uninstall this software prior to editing the hosts file to prevent that software from automatically modifying the hosts file again on restart. -
My iPhone 3G is stuck in recovery mode. When I connect to iTunes to restore it (It takes about 20 mins) it shuts off with only 4 mins left. Can this be fixed?

I have an iPhone 4S and it has been stuck in recovery mode for whatever reason. I have tried using data recovery software that can turn my phone to normal mode but when it tries all my phone does in turn off and then on again, back into recovery mode. I can't use iTunes to recover my phone because it won't let me do it without updating and recovering the iPhone. Download the right ipsw corresponding with your ipod from the link.after installation is done.connect to itunes hold down the power and home button for 15 seconds. when you see the resoe ipod hold down option and finder will pop up. find the ipsw that you downloaded and then click on it and choose open.

I tried to jailbreak my iphone (bad idea obviously) and ever since, its been screwing up.
At first, it was stuck on the apple logo- Then I followed some videos on Youtube and it was stuck on the Pineapple from Redsnow..
NOW its stuck in restore mode (the screen with the USB and the Itunes symbol) I have tried to restore it 3 times and it gives me an error message (1604) or it doesn't even restore.
HELPP! It's been like this all day. What could I do?FIRST, edit your hosts file (which was corrupted by the jailbreak process) and remove any references to gs.apple.com; delete the whole lines and save the file. If you don't know how to do this you will have to get help, and it shows that jailbreaking was a bigger mistake than you thought.
Next, connect to a USB port directly on the computer, not a hub and disconnect all USB devices that consume power or bandwidth (like USB drives).
Put it into DFU mode to restore. With the phone disconnected hold HOME and SLEEP until a black screen appears. Immediately release SLEEP and continue holding HOME. While holding connect to iTunes and continue holding. After a while (perhaps several minutes) iTunes should recognize the phone. When it does release the HOME button and hope for the best. -
