FaceTime can't be installed on "Macintosh HD" because the version of OS X is too new
I'm trying to buy the FaceTime app from the App Store but a pop-up window gives me the message, "FaceTime can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because the version of OS X is too new." What gives? Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
I forgot to mention that I accidentally deleted the app at one point. It's no longer in my applications folder. That's why I need to download FaceTime from the App Store.

Server can't be installed on "Server HD" because the version of OS X is too new
I'm attempting to install OS X Server 2.2.4 (Released 9/24/2014) on my Mac Mini Server (Late 2012). I'm receiving this message: We could not complete your update Server can’t be installed on “Server HD” because the version of OS X is too new
Current software OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)
4 GB 1600 MHZ DDR3
Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7
I'd like to resolve the conflict and install the update.domenico_85 wrote:
Hi All,
I am in the same situation.
I updated to Maverick 10.9.5, rebooted the system, in App Store updates I get OS X Server to be updated to 2.2.4, but I can't because the os x version is too new.
If I search OS X Server in App Store I can see the latest version 3.1.2 not as update, I should by the new software 13.99£, why?
Is there a workaround about this?
This question gets asked pretty regularly, and does seem to be a longstanding bit of confusion with the OS X Server product packaging.
OS X Server is not a "permanent" purchase that'll upgrade and work across all new "major" OS X versions "forever".
If there's a new "cat" or a new "bit of California" (e.g. Mavericks, Yosemite) being advertised with OS X, expect there to be a new Server.app purchase to go with that upgrade.
The organization and underpinning of OS X move around occasionally (usually with these new "major" releases), which means Server.app also gets reworked.
In other words, roll in your backups and revert to the older OS X version and the older Server.app, or purchase the newer version of Server.app. (Having started out when OS X Server was a US$1000 purchase, paying the current prices for a newer version of Server.app is rather easier to get past the purchasing department.) -
FaceTime can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because the version of Mac OS X is too new. I removed all traces of FaceTime and still not able to install from App store. New to macbook pro with Lion.any help with this would be greaty appreciated.
FaceTime is included in Lion. The App Store version is for 10.6. If you deleted it, restore it from a backup, or reinstall the Mac OS.

FaceTime can't be installed on "HDD Name" because the version of Mac OS X is too new.
on AppStore it says:
FaceTime can’t be installed on “HDD Name” because the version of Mac OS X is too new. After upgrading my MacBook to Lion, FaceTime (purchased from the App Store) quit working. It would just hang when I'd hit the button to "Turn on FaceTime".
So from a terminal, I deleted:
/Applications/FaceTime.app/
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.FaceTime.plist
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.FaceTime/
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.FTMonitor.plist
/private/var/db/receipts/com.apple.FaceTime.*
Now, when I go to the App Store to install FaceTime, I get the same error as the OP. -
XCode can't be installed because the version of OS X is "too new"
I have Mountain Lion installed on both my iMac and my MacBook, and I'm trying to install XCode from the App Store. It installed on the MacBook without an issue, but when I try to install it on the iMac, I get an error that says "XCode can't be installed because the version of OS X is too new". Is there anything I can do about this? I'm running Mac OS X 10.8.0.
Thanks in advanceNever mind, solution found here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4135803?tstart=0

Server can't be installed on "Machintosh" because the version of OS X is too new.
After installing yosesmite, i get the above message when trying to update to server 3.2.2. Server app is not working at the moment. Anyone else gets the same? Solution?
The Server apps are written for the specific OS.
There is a version in the App Store for Yosemite. -
Tried to buy Aperture 3 and got an error message Aperture can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because Mac OS X version 10.7.2 or later is required. You can update Mac OS X using Software Update. Problem is, I had already updated my IMac to Lion OS
iPhoto 9.3 requires OS X 10.7.4 now. You can use your actual version of iPhoto or upgrade to Lion (or wait to Mountain Lion)

if you sync with outlook or another contact/mail/appointment app
and your friend also use that setup your friend will get all your stuff and your new phone will
get a merge of your stuff and all his stuff
better option is to use iCloud -

I am a new user on a mac. I was given a mac to use for work and I need to install Ruby, Ruby on Rails. The Ruby install instructions said to install Xcode first.
The mac os x is 10.6.8. I had a problem trying to install xcode because it said the operatin system version was not compatible .. Then I found xcode version 4.2 but it then said "Xcode Install Assistant can't be installed on Macintosh HD because Mac OS X version 10.7 or later is required."The message kind of says it all. It needs a more current version of the OS to install. Mavericks is free if your machine meets the specs for it.

I get a message that I have 2 updates available. I updated OS X for Mountain Lion to the latest version, but I can't update my iPhoto app. I get the following message:
iPhoto can’t be installed on “Macintosh HD” because OS X version 10.8.2 or later is required. You can update OS X from the Updates page of the App Store.
I've tried updating from the store, from the app, from Apple....anybody else having a problem with this?I think that perhaps the store is under quite a large load at the moment.
See this post. https://discussions.apple.com/message/19622224?ac_cid=tw123456#19622224
I used the combo updater, http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1581, that works OK. Update iPhoto after using the combo updater.
