Thanks for the info. - I now know that deletion works both ways!! - (unlike POP where emails deleted from the ipad also deleted them from the mac even before I could read them, whereas emails deleted from the mac were not removed from the ipad!!! - ie. the ipad was the master over the mac - the slave). Prior to changing to imap I used to transfer all nongarbage emails from inbox to mailboxes before my husband could ask if he could delete emails on his ipad. I have noticed however if you do this in imap, they are removed from the inbox on the ipad as well (this did not happen with POP). So we still have to check but the number is less so we like imap better than POP.

How are you trying to transfer it and what are your setting on iTunes. I'm not on a computer that has iTunes at the moment so I'm going from memory and similar issue. If iTunes is set to sync music then I don't think you can select and drag, if set to manual manage music then you can. Also make sure you are dragging to music on the iPhone.

I tried to open a file using reader 10. Now reader has taken over all my apps including explorer and live mail and nothing will open unless I uninstall reader. System is windows 7. How can I reverse this?

I was trying to open a file, the box came up saying that windows could not open the file and choose another program to open the file, I chose reader as it was the first option offered. Reader could not open the file either but when I closed the file I fount that nearly all the desktop icons had changed to reader icons and when I tried to open them a box comes up advising that reader cannot open that file. The only way that I can open my apps is to uninstall reader. When I uninstall reader the Icons return to normal. As soon as I re install reader all my icons change back to reader icons. How can I reverse this?

I purchased some iTunes gift cards from Britain from where I have just returned. I am having problems using these at the iTunes store. The wording that comes back is that I am using a British Card for a Malawi application. I bought these on the understanding that Apple is one company internationally. That is obviously not the case. My question is: HOW DO I OVERCOME THIS ?

iTunes gift cards can only be used in their country of issue, so UK cards can only be used in the UK on UK based accounts. Do you know anybody in the UK that you could sell or give the cards to ?

On Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

Have the purchaser go to Settings/Store, tap your Apple ID and then choose Sign out.
The purchaser will then need to tap Sign in and enter their own Apple ID for their iTunes account.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
After the device has turned off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. try to exit out of the youtube app with the multitasking feature. if this doesnt work then try to do a manual restart by holding down the home and power/sleep button all the way past the "slide to unlock" screen until the ipod will power off and the apple symbol will appear when the ipod tuens back on

i did that middle button and top button for 6-10 seconds, hold play button, that hold button and got it right back and still it won't on but it is detected on my pc and itunes. i've already even put on some songs but it keeps on charging and charging for how many hours and if i remove it, it shuts off and won't turn on again.

Take FULL advantage of your warranty. Posting on a message board should be done as a last resort and if you are out of warranty or Apple Care has expired.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer

I fixed it!!
While not connected to any USB cable I put the iPad in recovery mode.
To do that turn the iPad completely off. Press and hold the home button while turning the iPad on, once you see the apple logo release the home button.
Turn on your OS X mac after it boots up connect the USB from iPod to Mac. iTunes should start. If not launch itunes.
Perform the factory restore process paying attention to all of the screen message windows. Then set up the ipad like it was new.
