I've developed a way to AUR search+install with pacman via proxy

at the moment it's not complete, and the database is up-to-date only as of Oct-16-2007;; but i believe it's in a stable position to be tested ..
i look forward to your feedback
so anyway .. i call it alaura, and it is a system developed in python to create a pacman database in order to allow
users to search as they normally would, and simply issue a command .. pacman -S pkg-in-aur and have that
pkg installed as they would any other pkg ...
add
[alaura]
Server = http://arch.u54.eu/repo
to your pacman.conf
the client side of the system is basically, download pkg from alaura repo, that pkg has an install script,
the install script removes the (alaura)proxy pkg and then uses yaourt(i hope to develop a simpler installer that does one job) to install the pkg from aur
. ad oh, the repo is generated using gradgrind's gen_repo script
so far i've only indexed 100 pkgs :: `pacman -Sl alaura`
more details will be published soon, i have to go study now ...

no one seemed interested, so when i switched to using a laptop i didn't take the code with me, i have a slightly older version somewhere though,
i have exams this week but i will prolly squeeze a tester out, i still have my design of the system somewhere as well so it shouldn't be too difficult to pickup where i left off
thanks for taking an interest.

  • Cannot retrieve aur packages installed with yaourt

    I accidently deleted /var/lib/pacman folder while attempting to solve my update issues (updating system after a long time) . I restored my local pacman database with the excellent guide in the wiki using /var/log/pacman.log  http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pac … l_database. I was able to update and restore my system. However, yaourt is not listing my installed aur packages. I re-installed yaourt and tried packer as well but it is not able to find the aur packages I installed using yaourt earlier to my update ( It is able to install and list new aur packages) . I can run the old aur packages  but I am not able to remove or list them. How can I list these lost aur packages or remove them completely? Is there a way to retrieve the database for aur packages installed with yaourt?
    Thanks.

    Hi karol,
    Thanks for your response.
    Executing pacman -Qm only lists aur packages which were installed after I accidently deleted /var/lib/pacman. I am not able to list those aur packages that I installed with yaourt prior to my /var/lib/pacman deletion. I am not sure how the accidental deletion and this issue is related, but I would like to delete these old aur packages. One example of such an aur package installed through yaourt (prior to blunder of /var/lib/pacman deletion ) was chromium-browser. I am able to run chromium-browser, but since this package is very old I would like to remove it. However, neither pacman nor yaourt is able to remove it.

    Chromium-browser is just one of the packages I remember having installed using yaourt prior to the /var/lib/pacman deletion. I would like to know if there is a way to find all such aur packages installed through yaourt prior to /var/lib/pacman deletion and if possible, delete them.
    Thanks.

    uninstalled firefox ....deleted all files still remaining under mozilla firefox directory in program files ... to avoid having to reprogram all my settings, reisntall all addons as well .. I did not remove anything from mozilla firefox that is stored in either appdata or under the windows users directory (if any)
    ... the as suggested reinstalled the latest version of the firefox browser using the link you provided in the email ..; tested and several issues still remain present and unresolved ....
    so please this is urgent or I will have to jump browsers and start using chrome .. because we work 14 hours a day 6 (sometimes 7) days a week, to get ready for the launch of our newest venture and we cannot lose that much days on browser related issues ... so please instead of putting me through week long step process .. of do this .. do that .. can you please actually look into the issue from your end .. I use firefox for so many, many years thta I deserve this kind of support .. thnx Robert

  • Searching package with pacman ?

    Hi,
    Question : How can I search the repository of pacman with some keyword : exemple : *fire*
    The reason :
    I'm trying to get started by installing fluxbox and firefox. While fluxbox can be installed with "pacman -Sy fluxbox", I cannot do the same for firefox. I tried finding the command to search the repositiory for any package with *fire* but failed.
    Any good tips on how to find package without having to use a browser to download a file ?

    o_O You really want to print out the pacman manual.. i think.
    You can print it out like this:
    /bin/gunzip -c '/usr/man/man8/pacman.8.gz'| /usr/bin/gtbl | /usr/bin/nroff -Tlatin1 -mandoc -c|lpr
    Should work, I just tried it.
    edit: I suppose you could do that with all manpages and if this http://www.patoche.org/LTT/printer/00000141.html works(although you would have to change all */local/* paths): man-page printing becomes even more practical!
    Now, remember to read some of it too: not just print it out XD

  • Searching packages with Pacman

    Im having trouble finding packages using pacman. I want to search all the repo's for the package I want, but If I don't get the package name exactly right, i get the message
    error: 'openoffice': not found in sync db
    These are the two commands that I have tried to use to look for packages
    pacman -S packagename
    and
    pacman -Q packagename
    but I can't get anything. What is the proper way to search for packages?
    thanks,bj

    Here is what I use:  I got it somewhere on these forums, but I like it.  put this in your .bashrc:
    ## Create a colorized pacman
    alias pac='pacsearch'
    pacsearch () {
    echo -e "$(pacman -Ss $@ | sed \
    -e 's#core/.*#\\033[1;31m&\\033[0;37m#g' \
    -e 's#extra/.*#\\033[0;32m&\\033[0;37m#g' \
    -e 's#community/.*#\\033[1;35m&\\033[0;37m#g' \
    -e 's#^.*/.* [0-9].*#\\033[0;36m&\\033[0;37m#g' )"

  • Exist a simple way to find dependencies recursivly with pacman?

    Hi,
    I'm a newbie Arch user with  little english language skills.. Sorry for this.
    Today I try to install some components of xfce (4.8) and I see... pacman want to install these packages: gnome-keyring, hal.
    (Hal is probably a dependency of an old (4.6) component's of xfce.)
    I don't want to install hal and gnome-keyring so I need to know what packages depends on those.
    I don't find relevant informations on the net (but I'm possible blind )
    Anyone know a simple solution for this problem?
    I wrote a bash script today to teach myself to programming in bash but this script is probably not the simplest way. ( http://paste.ubuntu.com/580804/ )
    Balazs

    Mr.Elendig wrote:Fairly easy to get it to work on the sync db instead of the local db.
    Would take some refactoring, but definitely possible. Maybe for 3.6 I'll work on this...
    In the meantime, I agree. expac is awesome. Note that I may or may not be biased. The following should properly walk the repos and find you dependencies
    #!/bin/bash
    : ${maxdepth:=0}
    declare -A walked
    declare -i depth=0
    walkdeps() {
    for pkg in $(expac -S '%N' -l '\n' $1); do
    printf '%s\n' "$pkg"
    if [[ -z ${walked[$pkg]} ]] && (( maxdepth == 0 || depth <= maxdepth )); then
    walked["$pkg"]=1
    (( ++depth ));
    walkdeps $pkg;
    fi
    done
    walkdeps $1 | sort -u
    Being bash, its not the speediest. By default, it'll recurse until it hits the end, but it'll honor the 'maxdepth' environment variable to limit that, e.g.
    $ maxdepth=2 ./depwalk hal
    e-modules-extra-svn
    eiciel
    flumotion
    gnome-commander
    gnome-device-manager
    gnome-vfs
    gnome-vfs-perl
    gnome-vfsmm
    gobby
    libgda3
    libgnome
    podsleuth
    python2-gnomevfs
    synce-libsynce
    synce-odccm
    thoggen
    thunar-vfs

  • [Solved] List AUR packages installed and only AUR packages.

    Here's a good one.  Thought this would be easy but thought it over and then looked around a bit and haven't found anything.  There's might just be an easy way to do this that will make me *bonk* my head in the morning but I haven't found it yet.  I'm looking to be able to just list the packages I have installed from AUR and not any that I have gotten from the official repos.  I've checked out some utilities in AUR (like AURcheck) but as far as I can tell they just look for AUR updates.  Anyone know of a way to do this?

    I just got to reinstalling and this was a lifesaver - it worked great.  Thank for the help, brisbin, ghost, Allan...
    @Ghost, I would have used packup but I had a couple downgraded packages and I wanted to be able to troubleshoot it.
    The tip about the grep -v doing 'shortnameplus' was a good tip, Profjim.  I hadn't read this last post before and during the reinstall I was a bit surprised nvidia wasn't installed so... all is good now.
    I created a script to be able to create the backup list and restores from it simliar to ghosts and am able to run it in cron job.  Probably not a big deal, but... phhht.  Here it is for anyone that can use it:
    #!/bin/bash
    # pacbac - Create and restore from list all installed packages
    # Package list locations (official and local)
    pkglsoff=/opt/backup/pc-emach/arch-pkglist-official
    pkglsloc=/opt/backup/pc-emach/arch-pkglist-local
    # Exclude packages
    excldoff=()
    excldloc=()
    # Use filename as program name
    prog=${0##*/}
    # Text color variables

  • HT203167 I have just installed itunes on my new comp. and searched for mp3 on the hard drive but it has not found all of them. There are 2000+ missing, is there any way to re-search the hard drive?

    Is there any way to re-search my hard drive for mp3s which have been missed on the initial search?

    If you've just moved the drive between systems then see Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows just in case that reveals the missing files. Apply to a single album folder first as a test. Otherwise, if you've not done too much with the drive since things went missing, an undelete tool might recover the lost media. FreeRecover looks promising... Select the drive, use the options to get file paths and check file integrity, then, presumably, you can restore anything that has been deleted that looks recoverable. Backup to another drive when you're done.

  • Is there any way to limit search hits to only the topics found in the TOC?

    Hi. I'm interested in creating multiple TOCs for a project. Included will be TOCs that only have a subset of the project topics and books. Is there a way to restrict searching to only those topics and books that occur in the TOC?
    Thx.
    -kt

    Hi there
    There are a couple of ways to accomplish this goal.
    The long way around is to select all the topics that are not in the TOC and look at their properties. On the General tab is an option to exclude the topic from any content being found in the search.
    Note that with this method, the topic won't be found even if another topic links to it.
    The other way is to look at the Single Source Layout options. For WebHelp, it will be found by first clicking to expand the Content Categories area, then clicking to select the category. Once you do this, there should be an option to "Exclude Unreferenced Topics from Output".
    Note that using this method, if another topic links to the unwanted topic, it has then been referenced and will still be found via search.
    Hope this helps... Rick

  • Configure one way outbound hybrid search

    I have been trying to configure one way outbound hybrid search but in the process getting no search results from SharePoint Online.
    I have created a SharePoint Farm on windows azure. I have installed Active Directory on one server which will act as my domain controller. I have one DB server and one SharePoint server. Besides this I have created another server which I have used for Synchronization
    purpose. I have used Azure Active Directory Connect to sync my users to SharePoint Online.
    As far as the syncing part is concerned, I have been able to do the same.
    Now, for configuring one way outbound search, I have followed the steps like
    1. Creating self signed certificate and replacing the STS certificate on my SharePoint server.
    2. Configured S2S authentication using PowerShell.
    3. Necessary services are up and running.
    4. Result Source and Query Rule for SPO.
    I can see the ACS trust established in the Central Admin.
    Also I have verified that the UPN is same.
    When I create the Result Source, (used protocol as Remote with SPO url) I don't see the SPO results. Although if i test the connection, it comes as successful.
    I can just see SharePoint on-premise results.
    Below are the links that I have referred in setting up my environment

    Hi Geetanjali,
    Based on your description, I recommend to verify the things below:
    Check if the web application has configured to use Integrated Windows authentication using NTLM as authentication type in SharePoint server.
    Check if the testing account for doing search is a federated user account.

  • Aur search broken?

    search for catalyst-utils here: http://www.archlinux.de/?page=Packages
    note there is a lib32-catalyst-utils package... and AUR search:
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?O … _Search=Go ; no lib32-catalyst-utils.
    vlad

    Oops... That makes those that do appear duplicates. I've added them here.
    I would have volunteered to patch the backend if there weren't talks to split community from the AUR and make it a regular repo like core and extra, but if that happens (and imo it would be a good thing) that makes this backend useless anyway.

    Arson is a cli AUR searcher and downloader, written in Ruby. It allows you to search the AUR for a package you want, and download it. It does NOT automatically install the downloaded package. It can extract it, but not install. Searching for a package also searches through pacman's db cache (rather than going to each mirror and querying those).
    Requirements:
    ruby
    rubygems
    Ruby JSON gem (To install it: gem install json)
    Ruby Facets gem (To install it: gem install facets)
    Get it while it's hot! Download from AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16021

    Arson still doesn't work for me in urxvt - it produces the same error as before:
    $ arson -S arson
    /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/terminfo.rb:80:in `tigetstr': canceled or absent string capability (TermInfo::TermInfoError)
    from /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/terminfo.rb:80:in `control_string'
    from /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/terminfo.rb:43:in `control_string'
    from /usr/bin/arson:26
    It seems to work fine in xterm and xfce Terminal though.
    I installed ruby, rubygems, ruby-terminfo (make, sudo make install) and minitar (via the .gem file).
    Also, I noticed that passing an invalid option produces a whole array of errors, I don't know if it's intended or not:
    $ arson -foo
    /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1443:in `complete': invalid option: -foo (OptionParser::InvalidOption)
    from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1441:in `catch'
    from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1441:in `complete'
    from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1280:in `parse_in_order'
    from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1247:in `catch'
    from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1247:in `parse_in_order'
    from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1241:in `order!'
    from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1332:in `permute!'
    from /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/optparse.rb:1353:in `parse!'
    from /usr/bin/arson:45:in `opt_parse'
    from /usr/bin/arson:121
    Anyway, this looks like a nice utility - once I get it working. (I don't mean to sound harsh, I appreciate your efforts! )

    The problem concerns 0.9-2 and 0.9.1-1 as well.

  • Best way to build search functionality

    we have a search functionality for the searching the order details. we have around 5 lacs+ orders and its taking so much time to get the details. we have indexed the DB fields but still too slow.
    Now i am looking to buikd the search functionality with the verity, so i am checking how much helpful is this as everyday we get new orders and rerunning the query will take so much time.
    when building the indexes for the first do i need to get all the records from the DB, if that is the case it will take so much time in the production and may impact to the production DB server.
    can any one suggest best solution.

    We use very large collections with SOLR, and the intiial index should not be too bad.  We have collections with 500k records, and it takes ~5-10 minutes to index (CF runs this in the background and it does not use JRUN.exe to perform this task)

  • AUR package not showing up with pacman -Qm

    So, according with this topic, the OP couldn't find the chromium-pepper-flash package with pacman -Qm, but for me it shows up on the search (I have installed it from the AUR, with makepkg). Currently this package is located in the AUR.
    I wonder why the OP couldn't find it? I mean, if this is an external package, not in the official repos, shouldn't it *always* shows up with pacman -Qm? Please notice that the OP didn't know at the time how he has installed this package, but I can't see other way if not with makepkg or with an AUR helper.

    The only thing that I can think of is that it was installed from a repository, because pacman -Qm lists all the packages which uou have installed which are not from any local databases stored on your computer.
