I've had my ipad for almost a year and it's worked fine up until the new ios6.  Now, when I'm using facetime it keeps cutting the conversation off and we have to reconnect - any ideas?

I've had my ipad for almost a year and I use Face Time every day.  It's been working perfectly all the time but now I've upgaded to the new ios6 it keeps cutting the conversation off and we have to reconnect.  Anyone got any ideas?

Does the iPod connect to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
Any error messages?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Had my ibook for almost 3 years

    I took OS9 off after 3 months and having to reinstall the os every other week, and then I had to put in a new hard drive. I am on my 3rd AC adapter, and I just got it back from apple with a new logic board after the display totally disappeared. Now it will not run on the adapter, every time I plug it in after about 5 minutes it freezes, but it is fine on just battery power. I wonder if it is the adapter, (but it was working fine before the new logic board). Any ideas anyone?

    Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
    Does the iBook charge the battery okay?
    Call Apple and tell them that the new logic board isn't working right. When mine came back from the first logic board repair, it would not run at all from the battery. When you unplugged it, it was just like unplugging a desktop. It died immediately.
    So, although mine was the reverse of yours (would work on AC but not on battery power), it could be that this new logic board is defective. Or it could be that they did not get the power input (DC-in) board hooked up right when they did the logic board repair. Which ever is the case, call Apple and ask them to fix it, since this problem is the result of the logic board repair.

    Try these steps
    When the grey screen appears when you first switch on the mac, hold down the alt key straight away until a hard drive icon pops up. If this doesnt work step 2
    Insert the mac install dvd into your mac when the mac is on, dont worry it can be on the grey screen. Then restart the mac with this disk in the drive and as soon as the grey screen pops up hold the "C" key, this will boot from the disk drive. After a period of time a menu should pop up asking to install mac, but dont worry about this. Just goto the menu bar at the top and find startup disk. Once you are in there select the Machintosh HD or which ever your drive is called, then select restart. This just resets the startup disk. If this fails step 3
    When you turn the mac on hold Command+Option+P+R before the grey screen appears and hold this until the mac restarts and gives you 3 beeps. Then let go and it should work This command just resets the PRAM and NVRAM which is just a small part of memory that holds simple information such as the startup disk.
    All of these steps will not make you reinstall anything or damage any of your data.

    Did you try to reset your device by pressing the sleep and home button for about 10 sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose any data doing a reset.

  • I have an Ipad 4 and its been working fine up until the last week, and now it is very unreliable connecting to the internet and loading pages. It connects to the Wifi network without any problems, all my other devices have no problems at all. Any help?

    I have reset netwrok settings, ip addresses are all fine, restarted my router, but I may be missing something. Anyone else having similar problems?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app

        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

    Following instructions are from Ipad user guide (IS08)
    Your Ipad may just have locked itself -- if you have not set a passcode it should work.
    Sleep/Wake button
    You can lock iPad and put it to sleep when you’re not using it. Locking iPad puts the display to sleep, saves the battery, and prevents anything from happening if you touch the screen. You still get FaceTime calls, text messages, alarms, and notifications, and can listen to music and adjust the volume.
    Lock iPad. Press the Sleep/Wake button.
    Unlock iPad. Press the Home button or the Sleep/Wake button, then drag the slider that
    appears onscreen.
    Turn iPad on. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Turn iPad off. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the slider appears onscreen, then drag the slider.
    f you don’t touch the screen for two minutes, iPad locks itself. You can change how long iPad waits to lock itself, or set a passcode to unlock iPad.
