How can I set home page for a new tab? how can i get firefox to open the home page every time i open a new tab in Windows vista home basic??
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

Firefox can have multiple home pages if you wish. Each home page that will open when starting Firefox is separated by the "|" character.
    See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
To have new tabs open a specific web site, add one of the following extensions:

Every time I click on a link, in an email (or in Facebook), unless a Firefox page is already open, I usually get my home page first. Then I have to go back to the email window to access the link again to get the page I wanted from the link. Is there a workaround?

  • How do I get Firefox to view the latest version of webpages when I return, instead of having to click on the refresh button?

I couldn't find the option to choose on Firefox to view the latest version of web pages automatically each time I return. I've been needing to hit the refresh button.

You can make Firefox always reload a page by changing a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # In the filter box type '''frequency''' to bring up a small number of preferences
    # Double-click on the preference '''browser.cache.check_doc_frequency''' and change its value to '''1'''
For more details on that preference see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.cache.check_doc_frequency

'''IT'S A EASY AS IT SHOULD BE.'''
This is essentially paulbruster's answer, but I've added the steps some might assume, but which aren't so obvious to those of us who are new at this, like me.
This solution might ''appear'' to be long and complicated, but after you follow the directions once, you'll find it's quick, clean, and simple. Almost like they designed it this way.
    # If you haven't already, open a bunch of tabs on a few different subjects.
    # Click the List All Tabs button on the right side of the tab strip.
    # Select Tab Groups.
    # Create a few groups as described [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-are-tab-groups#w_how-do-i-create-a-tab-group here] , i.e. just drag them out of the main thumbnail group into the new groups they create.
    # Now click on any thumbnail in any new group, but not the original big default group you may have left some tabs in.
#A regular Firefox window will open, but'' only the tabs in that group will be visible.'' You also now have the Tab Groups button in the tab strip.
    # Right click on any tab, and there it is: Bookmark All Tabs. Click on it in the list of options. Or you can hit Ctrl+Shift+D instead and go straight to the dialogue box from the tab without any clicks. But don't go looking for this familiar option anywhere else, 'cause it's not there.
    # Now pick an existing folder or create a new one just like you would have before and '''shlpam!''' there they are. New folders are supposed to end up in the Unsorted category all the way at the very bottom, but for some reason mine show up at the bottom of my last sorted category.
    # DO NOT CLICK THE UPPER-RIGHTMOST X to close this group of tabs. This will close ALL of your tabs in all groups, currently visible or not. At least it asks if you're sure first. Instead, click your new Tab Groups button to return to the Boxes 'O Thumbnails window, and click the X in the group box you just bookmarked.
    # Click on another thumbnail to repeat the process with another group, or click on a thumbnail in the big default box to return to the original FF window. You can also click the Tab Groups button at the upper right, or Ctrl+Shift+E, which will also get you ''into'' the Boxes 'O Nails window ''from'' FF.
    # So now when you reopen FF after shutdown, simply select your folder from your Bookmarks and Open All in Tabs. '''Just like paulbruster said. '''

I have recently updated my CC programs to the latest version (CC2014) and now all of my files wont open by default into their respective programs, only if I open the program and go to file>open and open the file from there. How can I fix this?
I have tried 'Open with' and the version of the program now installed on my computer isn't even suggested as an option and when I browse for it, the file wont open with it anyway

On Windows (don't know about Mac), the latest version will always take over the file association, and become the default for indd files. It's impossible to change it.
But there is a plugin for ID that makes this possible. Never tried it myself.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • How do I get firefox to open a new window when i click on a link in a webpage ?

When I click on a link in a webpage in Firefox, generally it opens the new page in the window i am in (though some times it does not). How do I get it to open a new window (or tab) each time I click a link.
For example, on www.bbc.co.uk if I click on a link, the new page opens in the same window, if I then click another link in the new window, again, it opens in the same window. To get back to the original window, I have to use the back button twice. Surely there is a setting so that all 3 windows can be open on separate tabs or separate windows.
I have been to the tabs window in options, but doesn't seem to make a difference.

Open link/bookmark in new tab in same window:
*Middle-click (press the mouse scroll wheel) the link
    *Ctrl+left click the link
*right-click the link, choose "Open Link in New Tab"
    Open link/bookmark in new window:
    * Shift+Enter on the link
    * Shift+left click on the link

  • How do I get Firefox to open from a closed state when I click on a URL sent in an email or posted in a chat forum?

When Firefox is off and I click on a URL link, Firefox does not start up and open at the URL link. When Firefox is on and I click on a link, then Firefox will start (open) another tab for the URL link. Firefox should open the link regardless of it's on/off state. Windows IE does this and I would expect Firefox to also do this.
Also, related to this is the fact that if I am at a website in Firefox and need to print out a PDF document shown on the website, I can't do this unless I first open/start Adobe. Adobe should automatically start as soon as I try to open the PDF document; again, IE does this.

    Cor-el,
Thank you for the response. I’ve already selected Adobe Reader in Firefox as the viewer for PDF documents based on the response I got earlier from the-edmeister. Firefox will still not open a PDF document from a website when viewing the website in Firefox.
As far as changing anything in a dot config file – I’ll pass. I’ve been a Windows IE user for more years than I can remember. I’ve been told by many other folks that Firefox is a better browser platform for several years. Based on that, I assumed that Firefox will do everything that IE will do as good as or better than IE. I’m not opposed to making some application based selections to get Firefox to work, but I was expecting a fully functional plug & play application. Changing settings in dot config files is not my idea of plug & play.
I printed out the instructions from the link you supplied (https://support.mozilla.org/kb/view-pdf-files-firefox-without-downloading-them) and will give that a shot later today. In the mean time, I’ve already redone the default browser setting and temporarily set IE as the default browser.

  • I'm on a website that usually when you click on the open chat(popup) link it opens a certain now, but now they are opening maximized all the time. How do I get them to open the proper size?

It was opening the proper size and now it doesn't

Works normally for me. The script that runs when you click the link will check to see if it already opened a window and try to switch to it, but if you are starting from scratch, this shouldn't be an issue.
There probably are quite a few add-ons that affect popup window behavior. To see whether an add-on could be responsible, you could test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, close Firefox, hold the Shift key, then restart Firefox. You will get a [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode dialog]. Just click "Continue in Safe Mode" and do not "reset" anything just yet.
If the window displays at the specified size in Safe Mode, one of your other add-ons (especially in the Extensions category) may be overriding it.

  • How do I get Firefox to open in a new tab (instead of a new window) when I click on one of my buttons in my toolbar?

When I click on one of my buttons in the toolbar, Firefox opens that button in a new window. I would like to be able to click on one of my buttons and Firefox open it in a new tab instead.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== When I attempt to click on a button

Right click the FireFox button in your toolbar and look in the properties- middle tab...make sure that it only has "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" with no other link added to the end. I had a similar problem this morning and found a website had attached it's link to the end so it would always pop up first and would only open a new tab.
    Hope that fixed it.

  • How can I get firefox to open new tabs? It won't open new tabs if I click the plus button or press Control + T. I installed some add on that didn't help either.

    Tabs cannot be created
    Control + T doesn't work
Installing an add-on to make tabs work didn't help

Disable or un-install the Ask Toolbar. The Ask Toolbar seems to be incompatible with Firefox 3.6.13. Ask needs to fix the problem.

Firefox does not open .smil docs correctly. • How do I get Firefox to display the information bar when a pop up is blocked I accidentally clicked on "Don't show this message when pop-ups are blocked" when a pop up was blocked. How do I get this message to reappear again when a pop up is blocked?

I just updated Firefox but can't get it to display the message when a pop-up is blocked. Most times I want them blocked but sometimes I need them enabled.

You can see a pop-up block icon in the right corner of the Status Bar if you have chosen to hide the information bar at the top.
You can left-click that pop-up block icon on the Status Bar and remove the check mark from "Don't show info message when pop-ups are blocked"
You can look at these prefs on the '''about:config''' page and reset them via the right-click context menu:
    Status bar icon: browser.popups.showPopupBlocker
Info bar at the top: privacy.popups.showBrowserMessage
To open the ''about:config'' page, type '''about:config''' in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.
