I want a div to be displayed partially outside the jsp page..is it feasible

i have a jsp page which is not expandible and which is displayed in half of the screen area.but i have a div tag which i want to display as new screen and some part of that screen is not displayed which is going out from
parent jsp area.
can anybody help me on this issue?

I am afraid this question is not related to JSP forum. When the browser receives the HTTP response, it will contain no jsp codes.
However, you should be able to solve the problem using stylesheets. CSS z-index property might be the solution.
Please google for details.

Junk characters like" � � "displayed in the jsp page please help.

I am getting junk characters like � � displayed in the jsp page.
In the JSP page i used javascript "& nbsp" for appending spaces to a string "CCR" to get "CCR " .
Now the Resultant string "CCR " has three spaces appended to its right.
This String is set in session in that JSP page.
In the next JSP page i am getting that string from session.
After getting the string the "substring" function is performed to get only the first 5 charcters of the string. Now the result is displayed as " CCR� � " with has last 2 characters as junk values � � insteed of displaying as "CCR ". Please help me in solving this issue.
Please note that initially the sting "CCR" is got from the Oracle database in Solaris Machine.

have you tried:
strenuously inspecting the string that is coming from the db? do an actual loop over the string, character by character, dumping to System.out to make sure the characters are EXACT coming out of the db.
note you have to append " " not just "& nbsp"
post the code that is doing the output. the relevant bean code, the jsp, everything relevant - WITH COMMENTS discussing where things are happening.
Also, is it "weird characters" in the browser only? have you done a view source on the actual html source that the browser is rendering (right click in IE and click view source). browsers can act odd if you don't feed then exactly what they want, and it looks like you're feeding it escaped characters that it is rendering as something else.

First i ll explain what is my requirement or needed.
Actually in my web page i have text box to enter start date and end date
and one list box to select the month .If user select or enter the dates in text box
accordingly the data from ms access database has to display in a jsp page.
Im using jsp and beans.
I tried returning ResultSet from bean but i get nothing display in my web page
instead it goes to error page (ErrorPage.jsp) which i handle in the jsp.
I tried many things but nothing work out please help me to attain a perfect
solution. I tried with my bean individually to check whether the result set has
values but i got NullPointerException . But the values which i passed or
available in the database.
I dint get any reply for my last post please reply atleast to this.
i get the date in the jsp page is by this way

i need to display the contents in a request in my JSP.
meaning:
i have a hashmap (containing string and a list) coming from the EJB tier to struts action in an event response object, I'm sure that the request has these values. cuz i tested it in struts action using the following code:

Kindly use JSP Scriplet to load the HashMap into the Page Context.
Then you can use the Struts iterate tags to paint the contents of the HashMap

I have displayed absolute path in servlet. and used InputStream and outputstream to display image in jsp page.

How to display links in the main page

Here is a simple question from an EP beginner-
I am working on a demo EP site for our company (EP 6.0 SP9). After the user logs onto the Portal, I want to display a main page with standard Header and Nav bars, and then (in the inner page?) display a list of links to iViews. The iViews are SAP transaction iViews and url iViews, most of which I have already created and they work fine in preview mode.
The question is, how to I modify the main page to display the links and maybe a company logo? Is this an addition to the framework page or something completely different? In a previous life I created ASP/HTML/javascript pages so coding would not be a problem.

Hi Alan,
If u want to display the iviews to a user you want to create roles.
First Create all the required iviews,then create pages. Add the iviews to the page. Create workset and add page to the work set. Then create roles and add the workset to the roles. Dont forget to set the Entry point property of role to YES.
Go to User admin>> select the user to whom u want to show the iviews and assign the role u created to the user.
Then log in as that user. The iviews will be displayed to the user.

I want to display the the total number of count on my jsp page using jdbc connection. So, in this case the result should be 14 because the total number of count is (1+2+6+3+2). I know the SQL command as
"select sum(count) from table_name" but how to display the result on my jsp page. Please help me out. I tried but it's not happening......

look at my answer to your post regarding length of resultset. It is the same here.

BigDecimal bdRowCount = rs.getBigDecimal(1) ;select count or select sum return a resultset with one row. You can access this resultset like any other. The row has one field containing a number which you can access as a BigDecimal (like shown above).
It really is not that fdifficult to do. If you have done it with count you can do it with sum, avg etc. The limit is only set by the functions your database provides. You can have something like
select count(*), avg(colname1), sum(colname2),sum(colname3) from table,
which would return a resultset still containing only one row, but within that row 4 fields, each a BigDecimal.

Display uploaded file on JSP page

Hi All,
I want to display uploaded file in JSP.
Initially I am displaying File Name after saving the file & click on edit link.
i.e on JSP Page I have File Upload component & save button.With that save button I am saving my file to databse.
So when I click on edit link I am getting that file name from Databse then I am displaying it.
But now I want to display uploaded file name on JSP page before saving to databse.i.e I will have browse & Upload button.When I click on browse button I will open window from where I will select file.
This is working fine as,<x:inputFileUpload id="uploadfile" value="#{errorLotBean.file}" storage="file"></x:inputFileUpload>
But when I click on upload button that uploaded file should be displyed there only.Can anyone please tell me how to do this ?

I tried the way mentioned in URL.
But what if I want to display all uploaded file on my screen.
i.e. If user click on browse & select File A then click on upload button.
(Here the File A will be displayed) with code
<h:outputtext value="#{benaName.file.name}"
But what if after displaying File A if user decide to upload another file File B.
How to display that ?
with <h:outputtext value="#{benaName.file.name}" its dispalying one file only.
