I want JDBC driver for Sybase database...

Hi All:
Can any one help me with JDBC driver for Sybase database ? I have surfed the net, but not able to find a Sybase driver that works correctly.
Also, can you please let me know if anything special needs to be done in case of Sybase database connection, apart from what we normally do to connect to a database like "Oracle" or "MS SQL Server".
Thanks and Regards,

And why do you think someone using Oracle might know the Competitor's drivers?
Having said this: you should give jTDS a try:
http://jtds.sourceforge.net
Also, can you please let me know if anything special

connection, apart from what we normally do to connect
to a database like "Oracle" or "MS SQL Server".It's all in the docs of the driver

  • JDBC Driver for Progress Database

    Hi experts,
    We need to connect our SAP PI 7.0 which is running on Windows 2003 Server x64 bit Standard/Enterprise Edition SP1 to a progress database 9.1D version on Unix. The problems are
    1. What JDBC driver should I use?
    2. We tried to copy progress JDBC driver jar files from the progress database installation directory into my windows machine and tried to run it, it fails to run. It gives the following error
    Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:JdbcProgress:T:156.5.31.65:inodbc2' using the JDBC driver 'com.progress.sql.jdbc.JdbcProgressDriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Unable to locate a suitable JDBC driver to establish a connection to URL 'jdbc:JdbcProgress:T:156.5.31.65:inodbc2''
    3. Does anyone know what connection architecture should I use to run under such environment?

  • NW2004S Setting up JDBC driver for Sybase jconn2.jar

    Hi everyone, has anyone had experience setting up the sybase driver jconn2.jar using the visual admin?   I am following the guide BI JDBC Connector as described in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/43/e35b3315bb2d57e10000000a422035/frameset.htm
    I have executed the Prerequisites and imported the jar file.   Now reading from the help guide it talks about connector properties such as username, password, url ...etc.  I don't know where to set these.  Are they referring to The tab additional properties.
    I select "Drivers" -> NEW, gave it the name Sybase.  After I loaded the driver, I slected DataSources -> Create.  I gave it a name "Sybase", selected the Driver name "Sybase" from the drop down list, select JDBC version 2.0, it the Object Factory  I entered com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybDataSource (I also verified this class is in the jar file.
    For the DatSource Type I select ConnectionPoolDataSource. and for the CPDS classname I enterd com.sybase.jdbc2.jdbc.SybXADataSource (also verified the class is in the jar file.  Now for Addtional properties, I entered key/value DatabaseName/Password, PortNumber, ServerName, User.  For SQL Engine I selected open SQL.
    Now when I hit save I get "Error occurred while starting application com/Sybase.
    I looked at the default trace file and can't figure the error is all about.  Also.  I tried using SQL Engine "Vendor SQL" and got same error message, then I selected DataSource Type XADataSource.   Same problem and it just won't start.
    Here is the error I am seeing in the default trace file.

  • JDBC Driver for MySQL database which should support JDBC2.0 function

    Hi, Guys,
    I'm using JDK1.3 and mm.mysql-2.0.4-bin.jar in Windows NT. When I run following program, I got the error: java.sql.SQLException: ResultSet not updatable. (the function rs.last() is working).
    Based on the documentation, mm.mysql-2.0.4-bin.jar driver should support JDBC2.0 function, but in fact, it's not. So, what's wrong or where is the correct driver?
    Thank you in advance anyway!
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.sql.ResultSet.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class BridgeMysql{
    public static void main (String[] args) throws Exception {
    String sTable = "test";
    try {
    Class.forName("org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver").newInstance();
    Connection conMysql = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/myDatabase?user=user&password=password");
    Statement st = conMysql.createStatement(ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE,ResultSet.CONCUR_UPDATABLE);
    ResultSet rs = st.executeQuery("Select * from "+sTable);
    //rs.last();
    rs.moveToCurrentRow();
    System.out.println("Table "+sTable+" contains "+String.valueOf(rs.getRow())+" rows");
    rs.close();
    st.close();
    conMysql.close();
    catch (Exception e)
    System.out.println(e);

    Thought I might add something interesting I found.
    You need to include the field in your primary key. I only have one field in the key so I dont know how it works if you have more than one key.
    Makes sense considering Mark stated that you need the primary index defined. Looks like you need the fields as well from the select statement.
    Can anyone comment on why this is?

  • How do I install the jdbc driver for sql server 2005, in sql developer 4.0 ?

    Hallo together
    I need access to tables in a MS SQL Server 2005 database.
    One possibility is the JDBC driver.
    How do i install this driver ?
    Thank you very much for your postings.

    Hi,
      This is from the documentation -
    Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers
    The Third Party JDBC Drivers pane specifies drivers to be used for connections to third-party (non-Oracle) databases, such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You do not need to add a driver for connections to Microsoft Access databases.) To add a driver, click Add Entry and select the path for the driver:
    For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds-1.2.jar, which is included in the jtds-1.2-dist.zip download
    To find a specific third-party JDBC driver, see the appropriate website (for example, http://www.mysql.com for the MySQL Connector/J JDBC driver for MySQL, http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ for the jTDS driver for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, or search at http://www.teradata.com/ for the JDBC driver for Teradata). For MySQL, use the MySQL 5.0 driver, not 5.1 or later, with SQL Developer release 1.5.
    You must specify a third-party JDBC driver or install a driver using the Check for Updates feature before you can create a database connection to a third-party database of that associated type. (See the tabs for creating connections to third-party databases in the Create/Edit/Select Database Connection dialog box.)
    Alternative:
    As an alternative to using this preference, you can click Help, then Check for Updates to install the JTDS JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server and the MySQL JDBE Driver as extensions.

  • Thin driver for Access Database

    Hi Guys,
    I want to know the exact thin JBBC driver for access database,
    For oracle we have "jdbc:oracle:thin:@host:port:sid" driver, I need the similar type of driver for Access,
    Where can I find
    Thanks

    let me be a bit more descriptive..
    there's no free, publicly available type 3 or 4 driver for Access.
    However, if you want to buy one, take a look at this URL: http://industry.java.sun.com/products/jdbc/drivers .
    It'll help you identify third-party vendors who sell what you're looking for...

    JDBC-ODBC bridge? I read about it. But I have doubts:
    The dbf is in a windows system. Can I use the bridge it to connect remotely from a Linux System?
    If true, Do I need ODBC driver in the Linux System?
    However, I think jdbc is more standard (maybe some day the dbf will be moved to a "normal" db)The idea of the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver is that it is JDBC. So in your code you use JDBC. Then, in essence, the bridge driver maps your JDBC calls onto ODBC ones instead.
    As far as the Linux part of this goes... I honestly don't know. I think I once heard of someone successfully doing this but I could be wrong. You would for sure need an ODBC Unix driver for DBF. I would suggest searching this forum (for using JDBC -. ODBC on Unix/Linux) before spending a lot of time going down this route. Like I said I think it is possible but I could be wrong, I've never done it
    anyway and it wouldn't be a really popular idea.'
    So that sort of leaves you wanting a type-4 (pure Java driver for DBF). I think your choices at this point are:
    1) Pay money. I believe there are non-free pure Java JDBC drivers for DBF. So you would have to pay money for it however outside of that this is probably the easiest solution and best fits everything else you've talked about.
    2) Don't use JDBC for the DBF part. Like the link I posted earlier there do seem to be a few free open-source projects for reading and writing DBF files from Java. This plan though has the serious drawback that it will tie the database interaction code tightly to DBF and not be portable to another database.
    3) Drop FoxPro.
    So I think your customer needs to pick the option above that best meets the requirements.

  • To change the JDBC driver for a single OC4J instance

    Hello,
    I implemeted an app with oracle adf (Jdeveloper 10.1.2 ) and it use Oracle Domain objects.
    I have an oas 10g (9.04.1) in windows
    and I want to change the default jdbc driver for a single oc4j instance
    in metalink i found the following information:
    1.- From OTN, download and copy the 10.1.0.x JDBC driver to a directory on the server. E.g OH/newjdbc
    2.- Opening EM-Website, navigate to the OC4J instance that should be altered.
    3.- Find the "Java-Options" and, add the -Xbootclasspath option to it, pointing to the new JDBC driver.
    E.g. -Xbootclasspath/p:$OH/newjdbc/ojdbc14.jar
    4.- Restart the OC4J instance
    my 'Java-optios' default is
    -server -Xrs -Djava.security.policy=C:\oracle\904\j2ee\test_adf\config\java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true
    my new 'Java optios' now is
    -server -Xrs -Djava.security.policy=C:\oracle\904\j2ee\test_adf\config\java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Xbootclasspath/p = D:\jdev1012\jdbc\lib\classes12.jar
    is this correct?
    now I cannot deploy my app
    Rigoberto

    Seems you missed something in step 3. From those steps the driver should be installed under C:\oracle\904\newjdbc and used in classpath, not d:\jdev1012.

    com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource is a very old direct driver. I'd recommend using the DataDirect 3.2 driver. It can be found at:

Also if it is required to install a driver, could you please let me know from where I can download the driver.
    My PI version is 7.1 and Access version is MS Access 2007.  PI is deployed on Linux.
    Without asking for deploying driver I have configured scenario File->PI->Access and I am getting below error in my receiver JDBC communication channel.
    "Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Error when attempting to get processing resources: com.sap.aii.af.lib.util.concurrent.ResourcePoolException: Unable to create new pooled resource: DriverManagerException: Can not establish connection:: SAPClassNotFoundException: jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver";
    Please suggest how to resolve this issue.
    Regards, Prasad

    Hi .
    The format for Access 2007 is accdb . Are you using this format or MDB?
    Anyway try this:
    Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb)};Dbq=C:\Test\TestDB.accdb;Uid=Admin;Pwd=;

    Hi Chris,
    We have used the same because we have downloaded the driver from following location
    https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/msplatforms ;   > SQL Server > JDBC Driver for MS SQL Server (Version 3.70.10)
    I have tried with both "com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver"; and "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver";, but still I am facing the same error.
    Service market place has given the driver as "JDBC Driver for MS SQL Server (Version 3.70.10)", is there a way to find out if it is for 2000 or 2005?
    Thanks for your reply.
    Regards,
    Rehan
