I want to find out how much memory is left on my macbook pro. I need to know steps to find this out.

I had a problem today as my computer would not save a file for me.  A box stated macintosh HD was full and I would need to clear some files to make room.  I realized that although I had deleted emails from mac mail, gmail had not deleted these and all still remained on my macbook pro.  I went to gmail and finally deleted all the emails, and there were thousands.  I have been able to save a file as of now but want to know how much memory exists on my macbook pro.  It is confusing when I go to the Apple icon in the upper left corner of my laptop as that states my computer has 4gb of memory, two in each slot.  It does not tell me how much as been used.  Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.  M.

The bottom of a Finder window will show you how much HD space you have left.

    smash adams,
If you're talking about hard disk space, open Finder, click once on your hard disk (left column) and look at the bottom of the Finder window.
If you're talking about RAM, Finder >Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor.
Open Activity monitor and click the System Memory tab.

    Hello comodotomi
If the app is in iTunes, you can get information on what Apple ID was associated with the purchase. The steps to do this are outline in the article below.

Where do I go to find out how much memory I have left?

    Use the Settings app.
    Settings > General > Usage
You should see how much storage space is used on your device and how much remains. It takes a little while for the apps section to update but that area will tell you how much storage is being used by each app. Tapping on the > next to an app will provide information on how much storage the app requires and how much is being used by data and files.

I need to upgrade from OS X10.6.8.  I think I should start with Mountain Lion.  How do I find out how much memory I have left?

    Hi ..
Click your Apple  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click: About This Mac.
    You'll see: Memory
Mountain Lion is not longer avaiable from the App Store.
See if your Mac can run Yosemite >  Apple - OS X Yosemite - How to Upgrade

  • How to find out how much space is left

    Hi,
I know Oracle XE has a 4GB user data limit, and a 5GB overall limit. Using APEX you can find out how much space is left via the administration section.
I'm going to upgrade to APEX 3.0 for testing. However APEX 3.0 will not show me how much space I have left since it's not explicitly written for Oracle XE. What query can I run to find out how much space I have left?
    Thanks,
    Martin

The following should give you the same results as XE administration => storage :
    select total, allocated, 100 - allocated / total * 100 percent_free
from (select 5120 total, sum(bytes)/1024/1024 allocated
    from dba_data_files
    where tablespace_name != 'UNDO')

  • Is it possible to find out how much memory each App is taking up?

    Hi,
About 2.5gb of my iPhone's memory is taken up by Apps, according to iTunes.
Is it possible to determine which Apps are using big chunks of memory? Is it possible at all to find out for each App how much memory it uses?

There's no tutorial from Apple to say. It's three things I've noticed. Applications not classified yet by the iTunes computer, Application's stored data and redundant memory.
One time I noticed a very high usage of "other" when I know I installed Applications. I unchecked the Applications and synced to remove it all down to redundant memory, resynced and it went to nearly all Application space with a lower "other" space.
If you plug in your iPhone and access the iTunes iPhone options, you can uncheck applications and resync to find out if that lowers the "other" memory of 1.5 Gigs.
Or you can try unchecking the music, videos, photos, etc and see if that is it too.
A clean restore may help too.

  • How to find out how much disk space left on hard drive OS 10.7.5?

Yes, this probably seems like a dumb question; however, after I installed OS 10.7.5, I noticed that the little bar at the bottom of each window which revealed available disk space has disappeared. How do I get it back? How do I find out how much space left on my internal hard drive?

  • How do I find out how much memory is in an eMac with no hard drive?

I purchased a used old eMac G3 and am a PC guy only. I bought it from someone who told me that there is 512mb of RAM in it, but I want to confirm this. Is there a way to get into the BIOS for eMacs? I just want to find out how to check how much RAM is inside.

Can the drives on them read DVD-RWs? What about dual layer DVDs?
Depends on what that sticker says, assuming the drive has not been replaced. It's hard to say with eMAcs; becasue they were an edu-model, they probably have more optical drive posibilities than any other Mac. Some even shipped with NO optical drive, presumably to prevent students from bring software from home.
The MacTracker database (free from http://mactracker.ca/) lists the following possibilities for optical drives in a 1.25G eMac:
    None, CD-ROM, DVD/CD-RW Combo, or 8x SuperDrive
    Also more tech info here:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/emac/stats/emac_1.25.html
The combo drive reads DVDs. Reading DVD=RW may depend on where they were burned and the media brand. The next model, the 1.42Ghz, shows the SuperDrive as dual layer; no such entry for the 1.25G.
If you are thinking about burning a system disk from another computer, be aware that almost never works on Macs.

I just got the Sims 3 and before I install it I want to check if I have enough space on my macbook pro. Where can I find how much space I have left? Thanks!

Select the internal drive in the Finder's sidebar and look at the bottom of the window or choose Get Info from the File menu.
