I want to start programming with jsp...

my computer will have tomcat on it for the web server. for the SDK, do i need the standard java sdk or do i need the entiprise sdk? i've heard both
please help!

The J2EE adds a whole bundle of classes, for enterprise programming.
EJBs, RMI, JMS - a whole lot of acronyms.
The JSP/Servlet API is included as part of J2EE as well.
In terms of what you are after, J2SE, plus the Servlet API from Tomcat is sufficient for someone just started out, and even for a few people further down the track. You only need to get into the enterprise stuff on really large distributed systems.
In short - stick with the J2SE and Tomcat. Its enough of a learning curve. Add the others as you need to.

Wants to start Jconsole with Weblogic 9.2 on Solaris 10

I wants to start JConsole with weblogic on Solaris 10 machine. I have added the following parameters in the startup script of the weblogic
-Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=7099 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false
But while running "netstat -an" command, found that 7099 port is not listening.

It looks like you will need to use JMXServiceURL to connect to WebLogic Server's MBean Server.

I had created folders that line up on the left side of the page, next to the email inbox that is open with all the emails showing....I wanted to delete the folders and start over with new folders, without emptying them, or renaming them......
I kept trying, and found out that selecting the folder, and actually hitting the delete button on my keyboard.....and it worked!!! what do you know!...I thought there must have been a super secret keyboard trick...and I feel ashamed I didn't think of that(''selecting and typing the delete key'') before posting the question...I want desperately to reorganize my email, with customer names, before starting over with new folders.

What is the best way to wipe Photoshop CS 3 off computer, when uninstall is missing. I want to start fresh with PS CS 5.

My iMac G5, OS X version 10.6.8 has a Photoshop CS2 and CS3 on it which have never started up, in the present configuration of the computer. (I had the capacity increased to 2 TB.)
It has not been possible for me to uninstall them.   The uninstaller cannot be located, by me and Adobe in an hour and a half phone call.
I want to get rid of PS CS 2 and 3, altogether.   Then I would like to have a new Photoshop CS 5 installed. I have Time Machine backups and LightRoom disks.   What is the right way to get this done?

Hi   -- It appears that Adobe does not provide an uninstaller, because the Adobe tech and I tried all sorts of work arounds.
I dragged things to the trash on my own, without success, before this. Then, I put them back.   I did not empty the trash.
If I again look for all the photoshop I can find, drag it to the trash, and then empty the trash, do you think something dreadful would happen?   It is pretty scary!

How do I see whats on my time capsule/or delete it completely? I haven't used it for 6 months, my wifi changed, and I want to start fresh with it.

I haven't used my Time Capsule in months. I have new wifi and forget my old login. How do I either see what's on it or wipe it clean? I want to make sure that its not making up regularly from my laptop.

Plug in by ethernet .. then you can find the wireless password and access the disk.
If you have no mac with an ethernet port buy the thunderbolt to ethernet.. well worthwhile purchase.
But TC are easy even with wireless.. reset it.. you can do a soft reset.. press in the reset button for 1 sec.. all passwords will go to default for 5min.. you can then access it and change them.. viola done.
You can factory reset it and just do a new clean setup.. you can see what is on the drive and erase it..

Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.

Starting Fresh With iTunes 9.0.1...best way to get music back in/import?

Had some library troubles with iTunes 9, and decided to do a clean install of not only the program, but of Snow Leopard itself. I was waiting on an iTunes update to come out before I decided to re-load my library in, since I didn't want to risk repeat problems (I've always been one of those bleeding edge-ers, and this is the 1st time I've ever had a problem/held back...guess I learned my lesson). 9.0.1 is out and seems to address the problems I'd been having, but I caught the "start fresh" bug and I want to start over with iTunes. No playlists, play counts, etc need to be saved.
I do have a full backup of my previous system (thanks SuperDuper!), and I'm wondering what the best way to get all of my music back into iTunes is.
-Do I use the Finder to simply drag the contents of my old "iTunes Music" folder into the new "iTunes Media" folder?
-Do I drag the whole folder and drop it onto the iTunes window? (I'm worried this method won't put iPhone apps, ringtones, audiobooks and podcasts in the right place).
-Do I use the import function?
Notes: prior to making the backup, I did upgrade to/select iTunes Media Organization

First of all, you should be familiar with the concept of programming and software development. If that's the case, the next step is to become a good programmer in C or C++. As you know, C++ is a superset of C, with the ability to do object-oriented programming in advanced. It is the only language that helps you to gain a deep understanding of OO design and implmentation. There are a lot of books out there, but I recommend:
1. Teach yourself C by Herbert Schildt.
2. Teach yourself C++ or C++ from the ground up both by Herbert Schildt.
3. The C++ programming language by Bjarn Stroustrup (The creator of C++).
4. Learn C on the Macintosh by Dave Mark.
5. Learn C++ on the Macintosh by Dave Mark.
5. Objects, Abstractions, Data Structures and Design using C++ by Elliot B. Koffman and Paul A.T. Wolfgang. (A must read book)
Knowing C/C++ is a great ability, as it allows you to develop software for any other platform you want, such as Microsoft Windows or Linux or anything else. In fact, the underlying structure of all operating systems used today, has been implemented in C or C++. There is Unix operating system at the core of Mac OS X. So you can also make programs for Mac OS X using C or C++.
The object-oriented API of Mac OS X is called Cocoa and Apple has chosen Objective-C at this level. This language is also a superset of C and is very powerful. It is a dynamic programming language as opposed to C++. Learning to program in Objective-C is not so hard, and it just takes some time to get comfortable with the syntax and the dynamicity of the language.
If you learn to program for Mac OS X, then you can easily port your knowledge to iOS. There is also Unix at the kernel level of iOS, so there are a lot of similarities in both operating systems.
There are a lot of books and resources to learn to program for Apple devices. You should know that after learning to program in Objective-C, which is nothing special other than doing OOP in C, you should learn about Cocoa, it's architecture, design, and huge class library used to create applications for Mac OS X. And to create apps for iOS, you need to be familiar with Cocoa Touch, the litle brother of Cocoa.

8. Beginning iOS 6 Development - Apress (There are a lot of books on iOS programming out there. I have not read this one yet, but I think it is good to take a look at.)
At the end, you always have to use developer documentation provided by Apple, which is accessible through developer.apple.com web site.

Bugged audio playback? When I start working with more than 1 audio track.

I have been using premiere elements 12 for editing FullHD videos.
Brand new for me just bought it like 2 weeks ago.
Now during the last couple weeks I have had this MAJOR proglem with editing the audio.
This problem is headache and turns my simple editing into almost impossibilites.
I have had this problem with all my projects. _ALL_
Usually the problem seems to appear when I want to start working with several audio tracks.
At somepoint my projects just get ruined, I simply cannot hear the audio tracks.
The audio starts to disapear randomly from all the audio tracks.
It is not only playback problem. When I exported the video, the audio was partly missing, same as the project.
I have tried to look help on forums and search all what I could find, but havent been able to solve this.
Small fix has slightly helped:
I export audio to single track and bring it back to project. This works but I still usually have more editing to do.
I simply cannot understand why the playback disapears, I fear it is a bug.
I found lot of earlier version problems on people with similar type of problems, but no help for this version of program.
To solve the matter I have changed my audio setting in PE12.
Tried Premiere Elements WDM Sound and ASIO4ALL V2, but same problem on both.
I have looked up that my audio playback device and PE12 matches, and are not muted, and volumes maxed.
I have deleted my C:\ appdata\roaming\adobe premiere elements & premiere elements 12 folder preferences.. not helping..
I press the update pretty much everyday hoping for new version.. But yes, program keeps telling me its the latest.
I usually only work with 3 audio track maxinum. And I am doing really the most basic stuff here..
I have set all my audios to foreground and it has given me best results, but it does not seem to take the problem away as at somepoint randomly my audio playback is missing again, randomly across the playback.
Please anyone? I am feeling hopeless here.

codec: Lagarith Lossless codec
Format: avi
Frame width: 1920
Frame height: 1080
Data rate: 1990656kbps
total bit rate 1992192kbps
Frame rate 30/frames/seccond
Audio of video properties:
Codec: PCM
Format: 16bit, stereo
Bit rate: 1536kbps
Channels: 2(stereo)
Audio sample rate 48 kHz
In addition to that I use wav files for music and narrate
Music files sizes 20-50mb
bit rate: ~1411kbps
In total sizes of audio involved is usually something like 300mb
What are you or the program setting as the project preset in the new project dialog. See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and its Editing Mode, Timebase, and Frame Size readings.
I opened new project and this is what i got:
Editing mode: HD 1080i
Timebase: 25,00 frames/second
Frame size: 1920 x1080
Audio is 48000 Hz
(I dont know how to change these, btw. Program don't seem to let me change editing mode.
I also looked up my most recent project and found these settings:
Editing Mode: DSLR
Timebase: 30,00 frames/second
Frame size: 1920 x1080
..and same audio settings
Do the problems persist if you start a new project? Do you find the audio problems develop when the Timeline content is fairly well developed or can the problems occur when there a minimal amount of content of those tracks? Let us look at the size and duration of this project.
Yes, I have had this problem with all my projects. Sometimes it goes away tho, just enough for me to work bit more. My work progress usually starts by clipping the video material, like 1h material to 8minutes in clips. After that I want to work with audio tracks, and here problems start! When I start working with more than 1 track, so the problem is at later stage. To fix the problem a small fix I have used, I export audio like music and effects tracks together to 1 wav and bring it back. After that, I start working with narrate track. To describe the problem with audio:
Audio Randomly starts to disapear when I playback, and can also be gone if I export the video out.
My source videos total size are usually within 80Gb max limit and audio edit material 300mb total.
In my last project my biggest source video was 47GB and leingth of 1h 4m, in addition to that I had 3 smaller videos, sizes of 1GB, 1,54GB and 300MB.
Is there any evidence that you are accidentially moving the audio track rubberband to alter the audio volume. That rubberband is the orange line that runs horizontally through the middle of the audio clip when you are looking at the wave form display style of that audio track. The rubberband represents audio volume.
No, audio volumes might have been adjusted in my tracks but they are present. The problem is usually like ~2-5seconds, a random audio track can be heard (like music or narrate) or just no sounds at all. This makes it very difficult to work with the audio. Also I gotta say that this problem starts by simply having the 2-3 audio tracks.. In my recent project the only adjustment I used to edit the audio was fade in/out.
I don't have any other audio problems with any other programs.
I am more than happy to provide more information if needed. I hope this information helps.
In addition I can say that when I close Adobe Premiere Elements 12, it crashes. No idea why.
I have also looked up my firewall settings, anything involved adobe and premiere..
In addition some effects like HD text templates make "Adobe Media Core CS6" crash. I tend to just not use em, or if I need em, I add em at end of the edits.

New Hard Drive installed - Time Machine wants to start over!?

Info: My MacBook Pro is the old version. Plus I have not upgraded to Snow Leopard.
I was running out of hard drive space so I took my MacBook to MacTown where I bought it on Monday night and they put in a 500GB hard drive for me. I asked if it would affect anything such as Time Machine, etc. They said it would not.
When I plugged it in Tue. night (after I picked it up) I got a message saying that it needed about 300GB for the backup and it only had 200GB available (I use a 500GB external drive for my Time Machine backups). I called yesterday and asked if it had to do with the new hard drive. The guy said no, I just had too much stuff on my backup and needed to delete some of it.
Well, last night I messed around with it and a)saw that Time Machine is supposed to delete old backups if it gets too full so this should not be the problem. b)I went into Time Machine and it does not show any old backups. It only has Feb. 1, 2010 as the last one. So, my conclusion: It does not recognize the old backup and wants to start over with my new hard drive.
I called back today and spoke with the guy who did the work. I told him this and he said I should just delete the old backups from my external drive and start over (if I am sure there is nothing I will ever want on it). He said to go to Disk Utility and re-format it.
My question: I am sure I don't need anything from the old backups, but am I not thinking of anything? Is there a chance they didn't copy something over, etc.?
Any advice would be appreciated. I am not impressed with the MacTown people right now.

It does say may, not will, but it always does for me, and there are lots of similar posts in these forums. (This was supposed to be fixed in Snow Leopard, but it still does it.)

That depends. It won't delete the last remaining backup. To do a new full backup requires as much space as the data it's backing-up, plus 20% for workspace, etc., on the TM drive.

Correct. It is a new drive after all, and Time Machine's main role in life is to back-up anythng that's new or changed.

Unfortunately, even the Geniuses at Apple Stores don't know a lot about Time Machine; in some cases, the AppleCare folks aren't a lot better.
