I want to transfer my data to new computer and use the new computer for iPhone 5. Have anyone can recommend the best way for me?

I have some problem to transfer my data via home sharing. (Maybe my internet connection is poor)
I tried to transfer all the apps and music via home sharing. When it's done, it showed the internet connection is time-out. (So sad )
So I want some people to help me about the methods to transfer datas from old computer to the new one.
Then I can use the new one with new iphone 5.
PS. I use iPhone 3gs with iOS 4.3.5.
Old computer uses Microsoft WIndows XP.
New one uses Microsoft Windows 7.
Thank you

you can't recover iOS crypted backup password, for security purposes. your backup is useless. sorry.
if you still have your old iPhone, make a new back-up

  • I want to transfer all data on my partner's AB to a separate account on my IMac. Is there a special way to do this?

The data icludes Mail, Contacts and Calendar, as well as all other data, such as ITunes, MS Office etc.

Is it shown that way on the Air?  If so, it will transfer the same way.  (I've never seen that on anything but theGuest Account.) From the Help for Accounts:
Ross: I can't see any changes to the Air, I wasn't sure if it would be literally transferred, deleting from the Air, or just copied onto the iMac. It appears to be the latter.
"Sharing Only: Sharing only users can access shared files in a specified location, but can’t change files on the computer or log in using the login window."
If it isn't shown that way on the Air, the copy must have been damaged.  Try deleting it from your Mac, then do the Migration again (selecting only that account).
Ross: ok, will do but this is sharing computers on the same network, I perhaps should have stopped that before migration but have been unable to find out how to do it. Will check further through Support.
Or do you (did you) already have an account with the same name?
Ross: No. The only account with the same name was the shared one, per the note above. This I understand gives/gave each of us access to the other's computer, which coincidentally we never seemed to use.
Second problem is I have about 7gb of data that did come across, spread through Macintosh HD etc
Not sure what you mean by that.  Was this "Other files and folders on the MBA"?  Did you select that option?  That should get only top-level items that aren't system files (there should be little or nothing there).
Ross: Ok, during the migration it stated it was migrating 7gb. I have search finder for the volume and there are a lot of folders/files that have updated/changed at the time of the migration, as well as some new ones added. This includes a vodafone setup folder which can only have come from the Air, as I don't or have ever used vodafone. I can't find that volume though, although it is all in my account. I assume this is because the account/s didn't come across. One account did come across, called administrator which was one of two accounts with admin access. I have deleted that account now and will deselect next migration.
I am unable to restore using time machine to get rid of it, as it has a problem doing so when there are new accounts/users.
I don't know what you mean by "unable to restore . . . to get rid of it."  Why would you restore from Time Machine to get rid of anything?  Can you clarify?
Ross: Well, my idea, relating to the previous note, was to restore my iMac to a time prior to the migration, so I could be sure I got rid of the first migration. I assume now, though, that anything that anything that did come across won't do so again.
Pondini, the last question now is should have I done the migration from within my account, or setup another, so to isolate anything from me?
and oh, by the way I appreciate the time you have spent with me. As you can see I am bit of a novice but not quite a ludite but I really thank you for your effort. What's all this about "level 7 and points?" Do you get graded by Apple for the time you spend on these things? Sounds like they should pay you but I guess that's not the idea of a community. Thanks again.

I am not an expert, but assuming that you have a Windows or Mac folder with music in it and want to move that to a new laptop, I think you have to import it into iTunes. iTunes needs to associate each file with a link, so copying it over will not associate a link.
Delete the files and try importing.

  • My ipod touch was stolen it has a lock on it and the icloud find my iphone. i have also reported to the police. i want to know if i can get a replacement on it?

i want my ipod back or at least a new one it has lots of personal things such as passwords for accounts on it

The Apple warranty does not cover accidental damage like loosing it. Did you opurchase any insurance
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order
Reporting a lost or stolen Apple product
    - iOS: How to find the serial number, IMEI, MEID, CDN, and ICCID number
The chance is slim to none that you will get it back

If both have Firewire ports then you can accomplish your goal by using Target Disk Mode. If this is not possible then you can do using an external drive or if you have a local network connect both to your network and use filesharing between the two computers.

PowerPC = PPC, this is the architechture of microproccors that Apple used prior to 2006 when they transitioned to Intel based microprocessors. Apple supported PPC based apps from 2006 to about 2012 when Lion (10.7.x) was first introduced. They gave users 6 years to upgrade all of their legacy apps to Intel based apps. Even after 6+ years some users still complained because their old apps would not run with new versions of OS X, that is technology though.
You might still have PPC based apps, if you do and you want to use them they need to be upgraded or replaced. I have noted a link to an article that will help walk you through to see if you have any PPC based apps. If you do then you can decide if you want to continue using them or upgrade.

what is the best way to transfer my date from my old iMac to my new iMac? I don't have a time capsule, so I cannot use time machine.

Your best bet by far is to use Setup Assistant when the new Mac first starts up to transfer directly from the old one.
It's similar to Migration Assistant, but doing it that way will avoid having an extra user account.
Either way, you can connect them via FireWire, Thunderbolt, or your network, but avoid wireless if at all possible.  You can connect both to your netwrork via Ethernet, or put a single cable between the two.
See Using Setup Assistant on Mountain Lion or Lion for details.

That's a bummer, didn't realize the exHD files were corrupt, esp if you have tried from another PC and not just this new computer.
You can get purchases from the itunes store transferred from an iPod using these directions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US
If you want everything (meaning non-itunes songs, app data, photos, etc) you need to buy a 3rd-party ipod manager that support iTouch. Here is an iLounge article to start your research:

  • LabView DSC, RSLinx, SLC505 and Data transfer (Best way for large blocks of data?)

I am currently programming in Labview 6.1 with the Datalogging and
Supervisory Control module to transfer 720 floating point numbers to a
SLC505 Allen Bradley PLC (with ethernet) using RSLinx as an OPC server. I
have found that using the Datasocket Write takes about 30 - 40 seconds, and
making the tags and writing to them takes about the same amount of time. Is
it possible to transfer this data faster?
    Thanks,
    Michael Thomson (Surcher)

    Cyril,
I was just experimenting with different ways to transfer the data from the
computer to the PLC. In the past I have built large tag databases with
specific tag names. This made the code rather cumbersome when you wanted to
write to a large group of tags with descriptive names. I was just using
datasocket write as a way to transfer the data to the plc using code to
build the url and without having the DSC engine running. I have found that
importing the tags right from the tag configuration editor with the names
being simply the PLC addresses and then accessing them with the tag write is
considerably faster (under 5 seconds). I can then build the names in an
embedded for/next loop and change them to a tag name before I write to each
    one. The appli
cation is a user interface that allows the machine operator
to pick what kind of arch to put on cabinet door part. With the selections
chosen I calculate the servo moves and download the data to the PLC.
    Thanks for the link!

I purchased iMatch because my old computer was failing and I was afraid of losing my music library. Now I bought a new laptop; what is the best way for me to transfer my library to my new laptop? Will iMatch help me do this?

    Is/was failing or has failed?
If the old computer still runs one of these methods may be best.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
I don't have personal experience with iTunes Match, but in principle you should be able to download all the tracks currently registered to your iTunes Match account. This isn't quite the same as restoring your previous library exactly as it was. There is always the potential for iTunes match to provide the wrong version of a song and could be content such as movies, podcasts, audiobooks etc. that would have been excluded.

I want to transfer purchased song from mac to mac using home sharing but retain all the song modifications I have done.  I am finding this very difficult

If your intention is to copy a just documents and data (word processing files and music for example) then yes, you can use drag and drop. If you want to transfer data and applications and permissions, it would actually be easiest to connect the drive to your old computer and turn on TimeMachine. Once TM is finished, connect the drive to your new computer and restart it holding the option key to get into Recovery mode. Then you can use the restore from TM option to transfer your data and programs to the new computer.
