I am wanting to have my music available to me, but not actually on the new laptop (like my iPhone is set up to do). I suppose I am wanting to know if I can transfer, or authorize my new laptop to have all of my music in iCloud, but not actually in iTunes on the laptop? I want it available to me, but I have over 7000 songs and I don't want to use all the room on my new laptop. Can someone please help?

Now, I understand how the backup and restore the backup features function. However, if I don't want to transfer the music that I have on iTunes to my phone, how do I avoid it? How do I not transfer the music or take it out of my iPhone if it is already there? I really do not want any music on my iPhone because I have an iPod for that. Thanks. Hope someone can help.
When you connect your phone and start iTunes on the left side you will see your phone listed under devices.Click on te icon next to it that looks like a battery. Click on the music button at the top and uncheck the sync music box.

my iPod was originally connect to an old HP. The HP has since died and now I own a Macbook pro. I want to transfer the music from my iPod (originally synced with the HP) to my Macbook Pro. Is this possible without losing the music on my iPod?
Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

i was given an ipod by a friend due to them buying a newer ipod. I want to transfer the music that is currently on the ipod to my itunes without having to sync my ipod and delete the music. Any suggestions?
Without even knowing if Apple's DRM would permit this, if you are in the U.S. then that's copyright infringement.

I want to transfer the music on my iPhone to my iTunes library on my work computer (which already has an exisitng iTunes library) but I don't know how to do this. I usually just listen to my iPhone plugged in via USB on my work computer but I'm concerned that I'm damaging the battery by having it plugged in for 8 hours a day.
1. How do I add my iPhone library to the existing one?
2. Am I damaging my battery by leaving it connected to the computer all day?sync them both to the same computer and you should be able to have the music on your iphone through your itunes library.

I have and old ipod and a new iphone 5C. I want to transfer the music from the ipod to the iphone. I could not do it in itunes. Need help. Thanks

Exact same way as razmee209 stated earlier. The sync process for the iPhones and iPods is one way from iTunes to the device, not the other way. The 3rd party software is the only solution if the music was not purchased via iTunes.
Simplest way is to transfer all your user data (inlcluding iTunes library) from old computer to new computer. -
Can i transfer the music from my ipad to my new iphone 5?
Can i transfer the music from my ipad to my new iphone 5?
Yes you can buddy!!....
But those music should be downloaded from itunes only, or else you cannot transfer but you can do one thing
keep all your music files in one single folder in your computer and try enabling the "sync music" in itunes so that when you connect your Iphone 5 the entire music music comes into your new dedvice

How do i transfer the music and apps from ipod touch to iphone
how do i transfer the music and apps from ipod touch to iphone
If you sign in to your Apple ID then your apps will be visible by clicking the "purchased" tab at the bottom of the screen.
Music you've purchased from Apple will appear automatically if you sign in to your account. Other music you'll need to download from your PC assuming you're not subscribed to iTunes Match. -
I have an old iPod that has a different Apple ID than my iPhone. How can I put all the music on my iPod and get it off my phone? I'm not sure how to mix the music from two different apple id's.
Hi KathySA,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You can sync songs to your iPod from your iTunes library on a computer. You may need to authorize the computer with both of your Apple IDs:
iTunes: Syncing media content to iPod
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351
iTunes Store: Authorize or deauthorize your Mac or PC
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
If some music from the iTunes Store is only on your iPhone, you can transfer purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer

I
Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
After you move everything, connect the iPod to the computer and right click on the iPOd under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
Restore the iPod from that backup. -
How do I move music imported from my old CD collection onto my iPod, which I did not retain on my old PC as there was not enough memory. I no longer have all the CDs so cannot import them to my new PC, so want to copy them directly off my iPod Classic to my new PC.
How do I do that?
ThanksYou cannot do it (transfer song files from iPod to computer) using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store (and you can also re-download previous purchases using the iTunes Store Purchased screen).
However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can be used to transfer from iPod to computer. If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files are on your new computer's hard drive, drag them (or the folder containing the files) to the iTunes window to add them to your new computer's iTunes library. -
I need to find a way to transfer music from my itunes on the pc to my Mac pro.
If they are iTunes purchases then you should be able to copy them over to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases if you have iTunes 11 on your computer) - that should also copy any other purchases over e.g. apps etc.
If it's music from other sources (e.g. CDs) and you don't have them on your computer nor on a backup then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them off : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Before starting the update you may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. -
Hello friends
We are trying to move our music library stored on the Mac to a second ipad. We have already set up the second ipad and are only interested in getting select music onto the second ipad. When we plug the ipad into the imac and connect to iturnes it wants to set up or restore the second ipad. We're afraid if we do this it will remove all current information on the second ipad. ThanksDid you ever resolve the iCloud problem.I am in the same position and its driving me mad!!! If you have a link to an solution I would appreciate it.
