The small security lock use to be located at the bottom right of the screen. It is not there now when I go to secured sites. Where is it now?

i was given a macbook 5.1 by my mom, being nice, she erased everything on it, but then could not find the original start up disc. i called apple and had the serial number and said that leopard 10.5 was the operating system that orginally came with it, so i bought it. when i got it,i turned on computer, put in dvd, and immediately shut it off, then turned it back on while pressing letter c. (they told me to do this) i can hear the disc turning but alls i get is blank screen then it shuts down, and restarts. nothing ever shows up on the screen. did i get a wrong disc? should there be something different than just the mac os x leopard 10.5 to get this computer to work again?? thanks for your help!
It means what it says. The "computer person" formatted it wrongly/ unsuitably. it needs to be formatted again.

Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

I was prompted to join this Support Community when I raised the above question. As a new user of an ipad I subscribed to a national newspaper download and could not find anyway to cancel the subscription. I made some unsuccessful efforts to cancel and today rang the head office of the national newspapers parent body and after speaking to some ten people and some 20+minutes on the phone came away with an email address and a promise of a phone call. Both of these pointed me to the above webpage and hopefully I have now succeeded in canceling the subscription after it has been running for a good month unwanted and unused.
Clearly I could have dealt with this quicker If I had known the route; but in the interests of being user friendly I don't understand why Itunes can't include an appropriate reference on their invoice and make it more obvious on their app in preference to concealing the process under the word features.
It may be that I am the only one who has had this problem. It would be interesting to know whether I am the only one who has had this problem.
I should say that my Ipad is a fantastic tool and undoubtedly there will be other issues where I need to find a solution in the future. Up to now those have been solved by looking at the User guide; but this problem related to the use of a specific app.If you wish to submit comments to Apple, the best way is to use their feedback pages.

I left my iphone in a bathroom last night and it was gone this morning when it was unlocked. I notified the police and no one turned it in. How do I find where it is located? Also, how do I find my serical number? I went to itunes on my macbook but could not find a preferences or devices button. Finally, I know my password but don't know my apple id. How do I find it?

Keep getting the following message on some websites on a new mac, old mac was fine.

Did you copy any files from the old computer to the new computer?

Hello there i am using the latest version of pages on ipad3 but when I imported a word doument with some figures ( mainly pictures, X-rays, CT scans, and ECG ) I could not find them they all vanishes although the text was perfectly displayed . Can anyone help.

I had to set up a new email ID, because I no longer had access to my old email address and Adobe was forcing me to change password, but I could not access the verification email. Now I cannot read my books under my new ID, even though I got Adobe support to set up my new ID.
If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact AppleCare(or Apple ID Support), upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
The operator will take you through some steps you may have already tried, however they need to be sure they have exhausted all usual approaches before trying to reset your account, so you should try to be helpful and show patience with the procedure.
The operator will need to verify they are speaking to the account holder and may ask you some questions that only the account holder could know, and you will need to answer them if the process is to proceed.
Once the operator has verified your identity they will send a message through to your device which contains an alpha numeric code, which you will need to read back to them.
Once this has been completed they will send an email to your iCloud email address after a period of 24 hours, so you should check that mail is enabled in your devices iCloud settings.
Upon receipt of the email, use the reset link provided to reset your password, after which you should be able to make the adjustments to iCloud that you wish to do. -

It send a veify email the answer the an email to <edited by host> and the email <edited by host> that is my other apple ID and the password work on apple but my yahoo account I forgot my password and security question and it won't verify to my email on to my apple email. so it send the answer to <edited by host> and I can't get it! So Can u do something? Both account r also on my iCloud. I can open both apple account but it won't let me buy nothing on my <edited by host> ! It's a really bad idea to post your email addresess - it's an invitation to spam - and I've asked the Hosts to remove them.
This is a user-to-user forum and no-one on here can take any direct action. If your Yahoo address is not working that's something you would need to take up with Yahoo - have you checked it by sending yourself an email to it?
Otherwise you will need to contact Support: go to https://expresslane.apple.com/ and click on 'iTunes' in the center column and then 'iTunes Store' in the right-hand column and proceed from there. -
How do I view what slide I'm on out of how many I have total in keynote? I know on powerpoint it's at the bottom right of the window but I can't find it on keynote, nor can I find the option to make it appear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Your steps so far are OK but you may want to try:
1 Trash your user library Caches folder (House Icon with short name in Finder window (hard drive window)GOTO:House icon > Library folder > caches folder
2 Trash the com.apple.Safari.plist file in User library > preferences folder > Safari.plist as well as removing the library Safari folder its self.
3 you can selectivly re-install Safari 2.0 from your OS Tiger Install disk 1, (see Knowledge base article 301229 for how to just select the Safari Application) without doing a complete system Archive and Install.
4. Create a new Test user account on the system and test how Safari responds in the Test user, see if its a user related issue and not system issue.
5. Still no Safari response? have to do an Archive and install (not preserving user and network settings)article 107120
PS. Issue may be related to actual internet connection connectivity, power cycle cable modem and router or airport if using one as well as the computer(keep unplugged for 3-5 min) and plug the cable modem in and then the router/airport then power on the computer. Do the Airport Admin utiliy (applications, utilities on HD_1)update.
- do a hard reset of airport knowledge base article 108044(Express base) and 107451 (Extreme base)
- Check with internet provider for connection issues "cannot find server" ect. -
How do I limit the number of emails that show in my active mailbox? There was a way in Settings on ios 6, but i can't find it in ios 7.
You need to delete your current hotmail account set up on your iphone.
Once this has done click 'Add Account' and select the new 'outlook.com' tab.
Set up your hotmail account again from scratch and this will then allow you to select how many weeks/months of emails you sync to your phone.
Im not sure if anyone else had a similar problem to me prior to iOS 7, but if i deleted an email from my hotmail account on my iphone - it wouldnt sync with my actual hotmail account. So when i logged in online all the emails I had deleted on my phone would still be showing as unread.
But by setting the account up as above, they now sync perfectly.
