Copy it to his computer into his iTunes library and authorize his computer with the iTunes account used to purchase them..
You cannot tranfser items from one iTunes account to another. Purchased items remain part of the iTunes account is was purchased with.

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

Indeed, you can move your iTunes Library to a network volume. The only stipulation to keep in mind is that you'll need to be connected to this volume before launching iTunes for it to function properly.

ITunes library not available for two computers on shared external hd

On our home network, using Airport Extreme, we have and external hd, and two mac laptops connected. We have all music in an iTunes music folder on the external hd plus the iTunes Library on the external hd. iTunes will only allow one laptop to connect to it and the says this every time I try to open it, "The iTunes Library file is locked, on a locked disk or you do not have write permission for this file. How do I get permission for the other laptop?

yeah you can keep your itunes library file on your local laptops, and keep all your actual music files on the external drive. then like said before, uncheck the box that says "copy files to itunes music folder" in the itunes prefs on the Advanced tab
this way you each have your own itunes library, but you're sharing the same music.

ITunes library not syncing on iPhone4 with iOS 7.0.4

Since the update to iOS 7.0.4, iTunes on my iPhone4 will not sync. It says it's syncing (I've tried syncing both wirelessly and with USB cable) but nothing changes. I've tried making a new playlist and moving songs, toggling things off and on, rebooting my MacBook Air, rebooting iTunes, and rebooting the phone, but it's not syncing. My iPad music library is syncing just fine since the iOS update so this seems to be a problem with the iPhone4.

I have this EXACT same problem and have since the latest IOS upgrade last week. No changes to the iTunes Library on a Windows 7 PC are syncing to the iPhone 4.
I've been able to get added songs to sync by UnChecking " Sync Music" in the Music tab, then hit Sync. That will wipe out the music on the iPhone. THEN , recheck the Sync Music and Sync again.
HOWEVER
The Sync is ignoring what has been "checked" in the iTunes library on the PC. It will only Sync what has been selected in the Sync options when the iPhone has been connected and the sync function launched.

I just got a great deal on a Seagate Free Agent 500gb drive. I've formatted it for Mac, now, I want to backup my iTunes library to it and still use iTunes on my laptop-I don't want to burn a zillion cd's or dvd's to do it-that's why I bought this drive. If you don't want to run iTunes from the EHD & you are simply backing up, just copy the whole iTunes folder onto the Seagate.

No audio plays from the computer, regardless if something is plugged in or not. iTunes will not play, or third party music services. How do I fix this?

My Mac Pro was playing music at a gathering and it stopped playing music. When I plugged in the AUX cord, it wouldn't play any of the music from iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, or YouTube. It would recognize something was plugged in because I have it on the setting where if you remove the cord it skips to the next song, but wouldn't play the music. You can only do it via iTunes. You'll have to force it into recovery mode.

Actually you always use ethernet..
MBA does not come with ethernet port.. but apple sells both a cheap usb to ethernet and a much more expensive and much faster thunderbolt to ethernet adapter. With ethernet to eliminite this silly situation of setting up wireless over wireless, so if you make any change you instantly drops you off the network. Like cartoons of people sawing off the branch they are sitting on.
But you can reset.. no reset will do anything at all to the material on the hard disk. You must deliberately erase it.
Read the info because you may only need to do a soft reset. That is hold the reset for 1sec (2-3sec is fine) as long as you don't hold it for a full reset.

Even a full factory reset will not harm your files in any way, (or any further!!)
I am "concerned" that you have no backup to vital files on your TC. That is not wise. TC are no more immune to failure than any other hard disk.. (actually latest ones use the cheapest green WD drives money can buy) and keeping files in only one location is a receipe for disaster. An external drive is much more accessible.. cheaper and tend to be more reliable. There are too many things to break in the TC.. it is designed as a backup target for TM. Not a file store.
