I18n of Databound Pop-list

Hi all,
I read Oracle "How to create Databound pop-list with Oracle Jdeveloper10g" to create a Single Select List.
In this paper the DepartmentId input text will be replaced with a Databound pop-list. This works fine for a single language. How can I create a i18n Databound pop-list with the same mechanism of the paper? It's possible?

From a design point of view I wouldn't do it your way because you'll have to change the table structure if you find you need to add another language.
I'd use a structure like
TABLE answers
answers_id NUMBER
answers_country_code VARCHAR2
answers_answer VARCHAR2
That way you can have as many languages as you like and simply query based on the country code.
However, assuming your Structure, you'll have to do something with JSTL.
So maybe you'd create three list bindings in the UIModel for the page, one for each language, with the correct column being displayed for the display value. The use a <c:choose> statement in the page to define which one to actually show based in the locale

Where would I have to modify the code so that I can define a WHERE clause to the DepartmentView object so that only a subset of values are displayed? My goal is to try to create pop-lists so that the values of pop-list #2 is dependent on the current value in pop-list #1.

You can create both static values and also
values based on record group .
I think you know how to create static values.
(for static just give the values in "Element List" property of list item)

How to remove value from pop list in iProcurement Page

I need to remove a value from POP list. How can I do this? Can I do this using Perosnalization?
While creating requisition in the approvers page there are two buttons one is Approvers and another is Add_Attachments.
When I click Add_Attachments button it will open another page there I need enter description and select category from the pop list and define attachment.
In the category list I need to remove one value. How do i do this.Personalization links not available in this page.
Please help guys...

First you need to find out the data source for the category pop list. Based on that we can suggest how to achieve that requirement as there are many different ways of specifying the data source for a pop list.

Populating a Pop List via WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE

Vendor provided a form that attempts to populate a pop list within a WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger. Unfortunately when the user enters the form there are no values in the list. User has access to the table (verified by running SQL of cursor in SQL*Plus). Here is the trigger:

Add Content renders blank pop list

I have created a Webcenter application.

What is wrong with the page here? Or is there any jar that I have missed out.

I have the same exceptions thrown at me. Unfortunately, I do have the default-catalog.xml created for me. But for some reason it is not found it seems. I have tried creating a custom catalog, but that is not found either. How does one specify in which directory the framework should look for this catalog? Is there anything else to influence the frameworks ability to find a file that clearly exists!

Blank record in POP list

Hi,
I have a form, and i query data to populate the pop list when I enter the form.
So far, no problem. But how do I add a blank entry in the Pop list?
I want the user to select from the list or blank entry.
When I click on the pop list, all the data is there, EXCEPT for a BLANK entry.

Here is my example how to get the address data from address book:
on page, where is the IR report with many columns (as a popup page) there is a Column Link of URL type - you can choose any colulmn .
In the URL address type: javascript:passBack('#ID#', '#NAME#', '#SURENAME#', '#COMPANY#', '#STREET#', '#CITY#', '#POSTAL_CODE#', '#STATE#' );self.close();
self.close function close the popup after fetch.
It will call a passBack function declared in page header.

Pop-List button

I am generating Forms application (iAS).
I would like to change view of pop-list button from arrow to "...".
I know that there is something Jinitiator.
How can I do that ?

Set app.ui.lovButtons to false. Then add a button to the canvas right next to the item. Set iconic to Yes and the Icon Filename to the name of your .gif file that contains the icon that you want to display on the button. For example, if your filename is list.gif, you would set IconFilename to list.
To deploy the icon file, there is some configuration that must be done on the middle tier. There is a white paper on OTN that explains how to do it: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/pdf/webicons.pdf.
If you want to have the button only visible when navigating to the text item, you can use Pre-Text-Item and Post-Text-Item triggers on the text item to make the button visible/not visible.

How to move to a particular record after getting the key from pop list?

I have a non-tabular form. I have provided a POP Lov to display and return the primary key of the table.
When a particular record is selected from the List I want the page to fetch that particular row from the table and populate the fields. This is a critical feature I need in most forms, so use can easily fetch any record of choice.

There are several methods you could adopt for this.
The most typical method would be the report/form combination of pages - where the form is populated based on the PK ID passed by a link from the form. In a lot of cases, I would suggest, this is what users would expect.
However, I can also see situations where the user wouldn't want to see a report just to get to a form. In these cases, either a Select List with Submit or a Popup LOV would be required.
Either way, the principles would be the same - you need to populate the form page's hidden PK item with the ID of the record you want to display/edit and let the page's "Fetch Row..." process retrieve the record when the page is reloaded.
For a Select List with Submit, the list itself could be the PK item or you could transfer this into the normal hidden item. The latter could be handled either by a process or a branch when the page is submitted (which would be triggered by the change in the list's value).
The popup LOV method would be more complicated as you have two pages to work with. However, this can still be done as long as you consider two things - (1) the popup page needs to set the ID value for the form page to use and (2) the popup page needs to force the form page to reload so that it can use this value. (1) can be done using a normal page submit - you can set any value on any page and it will be retained unless you clear the session value(s) for that page or item and (2) can be handled with javascript - a child window (which is what a popup is) can run javascript in its parent window - or by the user clicking a button on the form page.
Another alternative would be to retrieve all relevant values in the Popup and populate the parent with all these values when the user makes their selection. This would require that the hidden PK ID item on the form is "Hidden" rather than "Hidden and protected" to allow javascript to set this value so that the record can be saved correctly.

How can I build one page showing master-detail rel, I need to show Depts as a select list then when I select a certain deptartment the bottom of the page shows the related employees and have the ability to change the sal and comm columns only.If it is not possible then I am satisfied with two pages with the same functionality.

here's an easy way to setup a master-detail form on emp/dept as you've described it:
1) create a tabular form page on EMP using the "Tabular Form Wizard" being sure to select only the Sal and Comm columns in the "Updatable Columns" field of the "Identify Updatable Columns and Primary Key" page of the wizard.
2) add a Dept lov to your wizard-generated tablular form (let's say it's page 1)
------create the new item (let's call it P1_DEPTNO) with a type of "Select List with Submit"
------define the LOV for this Dept item as something like "select dname, deptno from dept"
3) add a branch to the page to have the page redraw itself when a value if a value is selected from the LOV above
------create the branch with a type of "Branch to Page or URL" that branches back to itself (page 1 in this case)
------set the branch up with a "Condition Type" of "Request = Expression 1" and have "Expression 1" be the name of your item, P1_DEPTNO
4) add a where clause to your tabular form query so it pays attention to your selected Department
------"where (to_char(deptno) = :P1_DEPTNO or :P1_DEPTNO ='%null%')" should do it for now
and that should do it.

I think you know how to create static values.
(for static just give the values in "Element List" property of list item)

In the selection you must give two columns one for label and another one for value.

FRM-41337: Cannot pop list from record group

If I update a record from a poplist and try to re-populate the list, i get this error. I've read you need to have a default or other values listed, unless it can accept NULL values. Well, it CAN accept NULL values, and required property is set to NO. I'd appreciate your help.

ADD_LIST_ELEMENT restrictions:
For a base table list with the List Style property set to Poplist or T-list, Form Builder does not allow you to add another values element when the block contains queried or changed records. Doing so causes an error. This situation can occur if you have previously used DELETE_LIST_ELEMENT or CLEAR_LIST to remove the other values element that was specified at design time by the Mapping of Other Values list item property setting.
Note: The block status is QUERY when a block contains queried records. The block status is CHANGED when a block contains records that have been either inserted or updated.

POP LIST

Using Forms6i Client/Server
I have a poplist item that is populated by a query.
My problem is that when I click on the list, I am auto navigated to the last entry.
Is this a default or have I made an error??!!

set the poplist property "required" to yes and see if it changes a thing.
