Ibatis fails to return int value...

I've been trying to get IBATIS to execute a complex query and null is returned every time. I've tried to locate the error by using simpler queries and so far this is what I have discovered.
This query works:
select 1 as value from dual
And this one fails:
select distinct 4 as value from campaign
Needles to say both queries works fine when executed by hand in SQL-plus for oracle.
My xml setup for this query is:
<select id="getActiveCampaignId" resultClass="int" parameterClass="string">
     select distinct 4 as value from campaign
</select>
Where the parameter is used in the complex query which doesn't work either.
Can anyone shed a little ligt on this problem ?

Hmmm, it seems that my query that fails is fetching values from a number(38) column - changing this to number(11) made it work !!!
Is this a short comming to IBATIS or is this simpley impossible to store a number(38) in a java integer variable ?
I've looked around on google and cant finde anything on this - is this an unknow bug/feature ? Never the less it's buggy that the log doesnt inform me of this if it is indeed a integer conversion probem !!!

  • Select query failing to return all values

    So I've just completed my first batch insert into DocumentDB and ran into the following irregularity while verifying my documents were added correctly.  I am seeing this issue through the Portal Query Explorer and the Python SDK.
    I have found 4 id values that are in my collection, but won't get returned in a Select all type query.
    Queries I've used to select just that item/document.  These work correctly and return my document.  Therefore, I assume the document is in the collection.
    SELECT * FROM Matches m WHERE m.id = "2997"
    SELECT VALUE m.id FROM Matches m WHERE m.id = "2997"
    However, when doing a broader SELECT query, some ids are not returned.
    SELECT * FROM Matches
    SELECT VALUE m.id FROM Matches m
    Neither of the above queries return the document with id "2997".  I've three other ids where this is the case.
    Am I missing something obvious here, or is there a bug?  I've added all ~991 documents into the collection using the same batch program.
    Edit:  Here's a test program I've drawn up to show this issue (you can take my word for it that the clients are initialised correctly):  https://gist.github.com/Fitzpasd/1dde776b00eacf68b361
    And this prints:
    1
    991
    False
    False
    False
    True

    I also have some issues with pages. When I execute a simple query like:
    SELECT x FROM Root x
    or
    SELECT s FROM Root x JOIN s IN x.Children
    (The Children array contains more than 100 items)
    And I use the AsDocumentQuery() method in the c# API, iterating through the pages works fine (the continuation token is returned in the request)
    But when I execute the following query:
    SELECT s FROM Root x JOIN s IN x.Children WHERE x.id = "<guid>"
    the continuation token is not returned so I can't get to the next pages.
    Is this related to the same bug ?

    Hi Anitha,
    Please check the variable @object_type in the SBO_SP_TransactionNotification stored procedure in your company database. In older versions of SBO, this had an int datatype. In 2007A or 2007B, this should be nvarchar(20) and you will get a conversion error when adding or updating UDO data if the variable is still an int datatype. Please see SAP Note 967470 for more details.

  • How do I return two values from a stored procedure into an "Execute SQL Task" within SQL Server 2008 R2

    Hi,
    How do I return two values from a
    stored procedure into an "Execute SQL Task" please? Each of these two values need to be populated into an SSIS variable for later processing, e.g. StartDate and EndDate.
    Thinking about stored procedure output parameters for example. Is there anything special I need to bear in mind to ensure that the SSIS variables are populated with the updated stored procedure output parameter values?
    Something like ?
    CREATE PROCEDURE [etl].[ConvertPeriodToStartAndEndDate]
    @intPeriod INT,
    @strPeriod_Length NVARCHAR(1),
    @dtStart NVARCHAR(8) OUTPUT,
    @dtEnd NVARCHAR(8) OUTPUT

    Below execute statement should work along the parameter mapping which you have provided. Also try specifying the parameter size property as default.
    Exec [etl].[ConvertPeriodToStartAndEndDate] ?,?,? output, ? output
    Add a script task to check ssis variables values using,
    Msgbox(Dts.Variables("User::strExtractStartDate").Value)
    Do not forget to add the property "readOnlyVariables" as strExtractStartDate variable to check for only one variable.

  • Returning several values from a C native method

    Hi,
    I need to return 3 values from a native methode : an int (the return code), a string of variable length and a double.
    In pure C, my function would be defined as "int f ( char* s, double* d)", and I would "malloc" the string into the calling function, then copy my string to "s" and use "*d" to return the double...
    Is there a way to do that with JNI? I found some examples where the native function returns only one parameterlike: "return(*env)->NewStringUTF(env, buffer);" But I didn't find examples where the native function returns several parameters, including a string.
    Thanks in advance!
    JM

    This really has nothing to do with JNI.
    You have a method, and you want to return more than one type of value.
    The following solutions are possible.
    1. Return an array that contains all the values (actual return value.)
    2. Return an object that contains all the values (actual return value.)
    3. Use an array via the parameter list and fill in a value.
    4. Use an object via the parameter list and fill in the values.

  • Whats the difference between producing output and returning a value?

    I've just started learning Java. I am having difficulty understanding what it means to "return a value".
    If a method has an argument, then whenever this method is called the variable named will be used for output.
    If you create a method to return a new value rather than display it, you would exchange the 'void' for 'double' e.g. public static double predictRaise(double moneyAmount). My book states that a return statement causes a value to be sent from a called method back to the calling method. Their example is not clear to me. Here is what they show for when only 'output' is produced:
    <code>
    Public static void predictRaiseUsingRate (double money, double rate)// 2 arguments
              double newAmount;
              newAmount = money * (1 + rate);
              System.out.println (?With raise, new salary is ? + newAmount);
    </code>
    And their example of a returned value:
    <code>
    public static double predictRaise(double moneyAmount)
              double newAmount;
              newAmount = moneyAmount * 1.10;
              return newAmount;
    </code>
    Their explanation: "This return statement causes a value to be sent from a called method back to the calling method. The value stored in newAmount is      sent back to any method that calls predictRaise() method."
    For some reason this is just not sinking in. Does anyone have a better example/explanation? I could not find anything with a better explanation in archives.
    Are they tring to tell me: "if the original method declares an argument that is declared as 257 in the method call, that when that same method is called again, it will always be 257? But if you do a return statement, any changes in the return statement will now always be used in all methods calling that method?
    Thanks for your help.
    Gizelle

    To use an older and possibly more easily understood terminology. Methods can either be "functions" almost in the mathematical sense or they can be "procedures" in the sense of a process.
    A function is a mapping between a "domain", its arguments, and a "range", its result. An example of a function in mathematics is cosine, which takes an argument in degrees or radians and returns a result between -1 and 1. In java functions are just methods that declare a result type. eg. public int foo(int arg).
    A procedure is a program that doesn't return any result, it's not something that fits well into mathematics, but it occurs all the time in real life. For example, walking the dog does not map something from a domain to a range, but it may have some side effects, which is why I always carry a plastic bag with me. Procedures in java are methods that are declared as "void". eg. public void foo(int arg).
    All the well known arithmetic operations are functions, they take one or two arguments in the domain of numbers and return a result in the same set. Eg, x = a + b, the operator + is a function that takes two numbers, calculates the arithmetic sum of them and returns a result. Functions are very handy since you can string them together, eg. z = a+foo(b)*max(c+d). This doesn't work with procedures.
    Procedures are often used for much longer and more involved operations, there is no immediate result, but a lot of things may occur while they run. Data may be printed on a screen or paper, a database or file may get updated and email messages might get send. But no other expession is waiting for a resulting value so it can carry on. Procedures may also happen asynchonously, ie. outside the timeframe of their caller, see threads. Functions cannot do this, or if they do, they turn into procedures by throwing away their result. For example, you can schedule a procedure to send an email to your friends every Friday inviting them to go out for drinks, but you don't wait around for the result.
    In a way functions are a bit like phone calls, you wait for a response, procedures are more like snail mail, you send it off and check on what happened later.
    I hope this helps.

    Again, why?One of the problems (have been dued) in my codelab asks us to write a class as follow
    Write a class definition of a class named 'Value' with the following:
    a constructor accepting a single integer paramter
    a constructor with no parameters
    a method 'setVal' that accepts a single parameter,
    a boolean method, 'wasModified' that returns true if setVal was ever called for the object.
    a method 'getVal' that returns an integer value as follows: if setVal has ever been called, it getVal returns the last value passed to setVal. Otherwise if the "single int parameter" constructor was used to create the object, getVal returns the value passed to that constructor. Otherwise getVal returns 0.
    The setVal(int y) returns nothing, so how do I know whether it has been called or not?

  • F4 on LIFNR fails to capture the values in SELECT statement

    Hi all,
    In the last 3 days Ive faced two issues on F4 Helps and its freaking me out.
    The first issue I chose to ignore because of time-constraints and able to find a work-around.
    On the second issue Ive hit a brick-wall.
    Anyways here are my two issues.
    Issue I:
    I developed a custom report and in that Ive defined a selection-field(among half a dozen others) as follows:
    select-options: s_matnr for ekpo-matnr.
    On execution when I press F4 on matnr field I get the standard F4 Help. And then when i select the Material I want and hit Enter, the selected value fails to reflect in the Input Screen field. I continues to show blank as if Ive not selected anything. Not surprisingly the Report output was fetching the undesired results.
    Later I changed the declared to:
    select-options: s_matnr for mara-matnr.
    And it worked. However because of time constraints I did not dwelve into it anymore.
    This bring me to the Issue II:
    For a different Custom Report Ive defined Select_Options on LIFNR as follows:
    select-options: s_lifnr for lfa1-lifnr.
    Now the issue I face here is slighly different.
    On hitting F4 on the LIFNR field Im getting the standard F4 Help, and on selection Im getting the desired Vendor Number on the input screen.
    But the problem is while executing the report its not fetching me the records relevant to the selected LIFNR. In debugging it does show me that LIFNR contains the value but surprisingly its not returning any values to the Internal Table.
    Im out of ideas at this point of time, trying to figure out whats wrong.
    Any ideas on what could be wrong??
    pk
    PS: Im not using any function modules for the F4 help. Just the straight-forward Standard F4 functionality.

    Eric Cartman wrote:
    > I meant here that you can exclude values in select options, for example you told there are 8 items for the vendor in the Z... table, let's say all these 8 items use the same material number, but (whatever reason) this material number is excluded from the selection in s_matnr (it is just an example, there could be many variations, you have a number of select options)
    What you say makes sense, but firstly I dont have a MATNR in my table and from the looks of it, its not advisable to use any other common field either. A vendor-wise search is of primary importance in this table. So cant really exclude that.
    if Rob's advise was helpful, than it looks like that the domain in the custom table for the field is not lifnr
    Well the Domain has always been LIFNR regardless of which Data Element I used.
    And the domain should probably be changed, but this might cause compatability issues.
    Rob,
    What kind of compatibility issues are you talking about? What I have right now is a custom table with some test data. So I guess its ok to change the Domain and Data Elements as I wish and Adjust the Table. Right?
    @Amit: I will look at your inputs a little more carefully and get back to you. Right now Im a little tied-up with other issues.
    Thanks everyone.
    pk
    Update:
    So... as I said earlier, when I used CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_OUTPUT on LIFNR the selection on LIFNRs worked just fine. But unfortunately the rest of the select-options returned zero results(if I left the LIFNR select-option blank). I found the reason to be that because of the conversion routine the LIFNR values are taken as space. So i guess its looking into the database table for blank values of LIFNR, which is never the case and hence no values returned. Anyways, I found a work-around for this and for the moment its working fine...to some extent.
    Only constraint being that I cannot enter a range of values for LIFNR.
    Heres the code Im using right now. Thought it might be useful for future references or somebody wants to fine-tune it, is welcome to do so.

  • Mutator to compute set and return the value

    Hi
    I am having trouble working out how to do a mutator that does all three
    compute a value set the value and then return it this is what i have so far
    this example calculates and returns the value but does it set the value of totalSlices ???? this is the best option so far
    public int totalSlices (){
    int total = meatSlices + vegSlices;
    return (int) total;
    this one seems more likely to me but unsure is this a set method as well
    public insert (int fiveC)
    fiveCentCoin += fiveC;
    returne fiveCentCoin;
    this is the final example i have come up with but dont know if it sets the value as well
    public int calculateCost () {
    double cost;
    if (age==0) {
    age = 0.1;
    if (neutered) {
    cost = (100/age) + (stay * 3) + SHOTS + TAGS;
    } else {
    cost = (100/age) + (stay * 3) + SHOTS + TAGS + NEUTER;
    return (int) Math.round (cost);
    the problem i face i am not sure of how to combine a mutator calculation, set method and return it all in one i havnt done that before and cannot find an example
    thanks

    I think you're trying to take a hollistic approach to programming. That won't work.
    You need to go back and get a good understanding of exactly what each element of Java does.

    I am currently calling a vi from within my code. However, what i would like to do, is to pass it 2 int values when i call it and for it to return 2 int values when it is done!
    Any advice on how i can do this please.

    Regards,

    Hi Matrix,
    is there a reason you do it this way? By Ref (it is called dynamically loading)
    If you place the VI directly on the BD of a VI you can just wire things up.
    Now if you need dynamically loading. hoover the open VI-ref function and right click on the type specifier and select create constant. Then right click browse, browse to your VI. Now you have the connector pane.
