Aftaernoon,Just want to know more about SQl , creating of tables and how they mergered to each other
>creating of tables and how they mergered to each other
Here are some books on CREATE TABLEs:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sql+server+2012+database+design&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Asql+server+2012+database+design
Examples for SS JOINs:
http://www.sqlusa.com/bestpractices/fourtablejoin/

MS SQL is different from IBM DB2 SQL. However, the basics of table create and JOINs are very close.

Hi ,
I need help on this matter and will really appreciate.
I have installed Jdeveloper 11g and Weblogic 11gR1 on windows. I am trying to configure my weblogic server for JDBC-Datasourse to connect to DB2 and get this error.
cannot load driver COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver
This is how my classpath and path looks
classpath :.;C:\Program Files\JDEdwards\BPMBroker\JRE\1.3\lib\ext\QTJava.zip;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\lib\tools.jar;C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\lib\dt.jar;C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\rt.jar;C:\Sun\db2java.zip;C:\Sun\COM\ibm\db2\jdbc\app\DB2Driver.class;C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\derby\lib\deprecated\db2jcc.jar;C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\derby\lib\deprecated\db2jcc_license_cu.jar;

I don't know what to do and everytime i try to test my connection i get this error .
Please help.
Thank youI added Driver Classname =com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver
and now it no longer gives me cannot load driver COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver.
But now i am getting

IBM DB2 to Oracle Database Migration Using SQL Developer
Hi,
We are doing migration of the whole database from IBM DB2 8.2 which is running in WINDOWS to Oracle 11g Database in LINUX.
As part of pre-requisites we have installed the Oracle SQL Developer 4.0.1 (4.0.1.14.48) in Linux Server with JDK 1.7. Also Established a connection with Oracle Database.
Questions:
1) How can we enable the Third Party Database Connectivity in SQL Developer?
I have copied the files db2jcc.jar and db2jcc_license_cu.jar from the IBM DB2 (Windows) to Oracle (Linux)
2) Will these JAR files are universal drivers? will these jar files will support in Linux platform?
3) I got a DB2 full privileged schema name "assistdba", Shall i create a new user with the same name "assistdba" in the Oracle Database & grant DBA Privillege? (This is for Repository Creation)
4) We have around 35GB of data in DB2, shall i proceed with ONLINE CAPTURE during the migration?
5) Do you have any approx. estimation of Time to migrate a 35 GB of data?
6) In-case of any issue during the migration activity, shall i get an support from Oracle Team (We have a Valid Support ID)?
7) What are all the necessary Test Cases to confirm the status of VALID Migration?
Request you to share the relevant metalink documents!!!
Kindly guide me in-order to go-ahead with the successful migration.
Thanks in Advance!!!

[email protected]Hi Klaus,
Continued with the above posts - Now we are doing another database migration from IBM DB2 to Oracle, which is very less of data (Eg: 20 Tables & 22 Indexes).
As like previous database migration, we have done the pre-requirement steps.
DB Using SQL Developer
Created Migration Repository
Connected with the created User in SQL Developer
Captured the Source Database
Converted Captured Model to Oracle
Before Translation Phase we have clicked on the "Proceed Summary"
Captured Database Objects & Converted Database Objects has been created under PROJECT section.
Here while checking the status of captured & converted database objects, It's showing the below chart as sample:

View and Navigate through PDF´s on a DB2 SQL Query
Hello,
We need to create a windows forms application in .Net to view and navigate through pdf´s that are located on a DB2 Express SQL database using the Acrobat SDK or PDF Library.
The idea would be to query the SQL table and the result we should be able to view and navigate through by using the viewer procedures from the SDK without having to send the PDF files to a temporary folder on the hard drive.
So for example, if the query returned 20 pdf´s, we should be able to navigate and view these pdf´s on a windows form connecting directly to the query via streams or a data source.
We assume that what we need is some sort of procedure to connect the viewer to the query through a data source.
Please help us to research about this and determine if this is possible.
Thanks.Hello lrosenth and thanks for your reply.
Our goal is to develop a Windows Form in .Net where we could view the pdf without launching Acrobat.
I guess you mean that we should develop a plugin in C/C++ for Acrobat, but that is not what we intend.
Is there a way to develop a function in .Net that will allow a Windows Form to read a stream with a pdf using Adobe ´s SDK or PDF´s library?
If so, would you be so kind as to point us to some reading material?

No Suitable Driver Exception and COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver
Greetings,
I am attempting to connect to a DB2 UDB (6.1) on an AIX (4.x) box from a win95 box and have cobbled some code together to do this. Despite loading and verifying that the driver loads, I get nothing but the SQLException: "No Suitable Driver". My Java code follows for comment. Thanks in advance...

}1)IBM document says that you use COM.ibm.jdbc.net.DB2Driver when you use Applets
2)For applications use COM.ibm.jdbc.app.DB2Driver
3)Both these files are in db2java.zip file
4)db2java.zip is the DB2 driver just like classes111.zip is the driver for Oracle
6)You need to put db2java.zip in your classpath.
5)If you are using COM.ibm.jdbc.net.DB2Driver and you are getting "COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.DB2Exception: [IBM][JDBC Driver] CLI0616E Error opening socket
. SQLSTATE=08S01 "
you need to run "db2jstrt" on the target host(machine running DB2) with the specified port as the parameter
6)If you are using COM.ibm.jdbc.app.DB2Driver and getting " java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver ", most probably db2java.zip is not in classpath.
7)Note : you need to install DB2 client software on the application machine, just putting the zip file does not work.
8)There is a Java file at IBM that walks you thru the connection.
ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/software/websphere/info/tools/jdbctest
Just download in into the client machine, compile and run it. -
We have a container in T3-1 in which IBM DB2 running it. Recently we migrated the container to T4-1 server. The container is up and running but unable to start DB2. The container configuration is similar as in T3-1. Did anyone faced similar issue while running DB2 on T4-1 server ?

Weblogic5.1, Transaction involving SQL Svr and AS400/DB2
Hi, after reading quite a few posts regarding this issue I believe to demarcate a
transaction involving SQL Server and AS400/DB2 is not impossible. But we have to
handle the rollback and other stuff on our own. Am I correct? Is there any hack around
this?
I've tried to use an EJB(ejbY) that will insert a record in AS400/DB2 and subsequently
in ejbY, I invoke another EJB(ejbX) that reside in another WL5.1 to insert a record
in SQL Server. Of course this is demarcated with UserTransaction. Technically is
this possible? This is because I've encountered some exceptions with this hack and
would like to seek some advise.
Thanks.

SQL Report not showing data - available in SQL Workshop and SQL Developer
I am having an issue with developing a SQL Report in APEX 3.2.1. I run the code in both SQL developer and SQL Workshop and I get data pulled back (both against my development environment). When I run the same code in a SQL Report region, it returns no data available. Does anyone have any idea what would be causing this? Other regions on the page accessing different tables in the same schema return data without issue. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
FreddieCould you explain the last comment a bit more. Here is a bit more info just in case I touch on the info with it. The db schema is BPAMGR, the Workspace is BPAMGR. We use the same schema for all of our reporting. All of our tables are in the same schema. We don't use any tables outside of this schema. Our APEX workspace has been associated to only this schema. The tables are able to be queried by SQL Workshop in the same APEX instance that the report application is under.

SQL Developer, SQL Server and the ampersand
Hello,
I am connected to a SQL Server database (2008) and am having difficulty getting a query to run properly in SQL Developer (3.1.07).
Simplified Example
select table_field
from table
where table_field <> 'This & That';
Expected results
table_field
Other stuff
Other stuff
Other stuff
Actual results
table_field
Other stuff
This & That
This & That
I cannot seem to get SQL Developer to recognize the & as a literal ampersand. I've tried escaping it numerous ways, but it always thinks it is a variable.
The query works exactly as expected in MS SQL Management Studio and Toad. Of course, I can just run it in one of those but I'd like to try to get this to work in SQL Developer. Suggestions?
Please let me know if I can provide further information. Thanks.Hi,
SQL Developers worksheet is designed for Oracle, but we allow you to run statements against SQL Server and other non Oracle databases.
This can lead to some quirks, like the one you experienced.
Oracles SQL*Plus uses ampersand to define substitution variables.
Oracle SQL Developer has implemented the same concept.
Unfortunately this does not make sense when running something against a non Oracle database.
As a workaround, you can run the following SQL*Plus command in SQL Developer, before your SQL Server query.
SET DEFINE OFF;
select 'hello & goodbye';
The following maybe of some help as well.

BOXI R2 deployment on Solaris, data access to SQL Server and DB2
<p>Have you deployed BusinessObjects XI Release 2 on Solaris and are accessing Microsoft SQL server 2000/2005? How about DB2? We had planned on using JDBC for SQL Server, and StarSQL 5.x for DB2. We are having trouble with configuration planning.</p><p>Anyone have experience with this?</p>

What is XI administrator's and Developer's actual job?
What is XI administrator's and Developer's actual job?
I am more towards XI administrator. Can you someone please tell me what's the actual job is?
Regards,
NS.Hi Narayanan,
The roles of Xi developer and administrator are distinguished. I'll mention some examples,
XI Administrator....
1. Installation and configuration of XI server.
2. Post installation steps of XI server.
3. Creating software Component and Software products in SLD.
4. Also creation of namespaces will come under the roles of admin, as in our enviornment developer does'nt have the rights to create a new namespaces . Developer files up a request form to Basis team and an Administrator does the creation.
5.Then there are many periodic activities like archiving of messages, deletion of messages , performance tuning if required, etc.
6.Creating Business system in SLD .
7. Assigning proper roles to individual user etc.
8. Also Creation of an XI Track in CMS to transport your objects is a task of XI Administrator.
XI developer.
1 XI developer deals with the Scenario specific Repository objects like creation of Data type , message type , message interface,mapping ,etc.
He is also responsible for the creating the configuration objects in ID.
Hope this helps you,
Yomesh

LabVIEW & MS SQL SERVER Architect and Developer
Have keen interest & expert-level know-how on architecting and developing databases geared to automated measurements and control systems that directly interface with LabVIEW.
Here is specific problem-solving expertise brought to projects:
Knowledge-Generating & Flexibale Database Schema For Measurements and Control Schema
In 8 years I have gone through ~15 iterations of database schema and pre-defined queries to finally arrive at guidelines & principles for generating the same for automated control and measurement systems. Re-use of such schema along with the pre-designed database querys has shortened integration time from months to weeks.
Fast Data Inserts from LabVIEW to Databases
LabVIEW applications can generate large amounts of data that cannot be inserted fast-enough into databases. However, there are ceratin data insert techniques that can overcome this challenge. MS SQL Server 'Bulk Insert' is a technqiue that I have mastered well that can upload upto 35,000 sample points in one second making databases viable in many automated test and measurement scenarios.
LabVIEW Real-Time & MS SQL Server Interfacing
ADO (ActiveX Data-Access Objects) cannot run in LabVIEW real-time systems. However, robust re-usable TCPIP client-server communication modules bridge the gap between LabVIEW Real-Time and MS SQL Server interfacing. These modules run fast enough and can handle complex projects when used in conjunction with LabVIEW FTP and the Bulk-inserts methodology.
Reporting using Feature Rich Data Grids
Reporting data with comprehensive search, filter, and hierarchichal organization is accomplished using 3-rd party data grids. Have full mastery in using one advanced data grid for this: Namely: ComponentOne vsFlexgrid 8.0.

Anthony L.Hi:
I wrote out a reply but could not post because this web site says that my message was more than 10,000 characters and that this exceeds the allowed message length.
. . . But my message was only 2,300 characters!
Anyway, I pasted the reply to a word document and have attached here. I have also attached samples of a 'Format File' and a 'Data File'.
Should you wish to create a Dynamic Bulk insert stored procedure then here it is:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO
CREATE PROC [dbo].[AC_Import_SamplesBulkCopy]
@DataFile nvarchar(150),
@FormatFile nvarchar(150),
@RowsPerBatch nvarchar(100) = '5000'
AS
SET TRANSACTION ISOLATION LEVEL READ UNCOMMITTED
SET NOCOUNT ON;
DECLARE @StrgSQL nvarchar(2000)
SET @StrgSQL = 'BULK INSERT [LOG_ResultsValues] FROM ''' + @DataFile +
''' WITH (FORMATFILE = ''' + @FormatFile + ''', ROWS_PER_BATCH = ' + @RowsPerBatch + ')'
EXEC (@StrgSQL)
GO

SQL Query taking the different time in Production and Development Env.
Hi All,
Following is the query which is hitting mainly two tables. SA_ORDER & AC_INVOICE.
My Production and Development both has same amount of data. But in Development env. it is just taking 5 secs. to execute but in Production Env. its handing.
I have also execution plans of both env. The difference is in development env. it is showing some view i.e. SYS.VW_NSO_1 which is not getting used in Production env.
And one more input is in Production Env, I don't have DBA privileges.
What setting will I have to make to resolve this performance problem in Production Env. ?
Here is the QUERY:------------
SELECT distinct A.GL_COMPANY_ID,
A.CUSTOMER_GROUP_ID,
A.CUSTOMER_GROUP_NAME,
A.INVOICE_ID,
A.ORDER_ID,
B.ORDER_NAME,
A.CUSTOMER_ID,
A.CUSTOMER_NAME,
c.order_name parent_order_name,
A.INVOICE_DATE,
A.DUE_DATE,
A.TOTAL_INVOICED_AMOUNT,
A.TOTAL_PAID_AMOUNT,
A.CREDITED_AMOUNT,
H.write_off
from ac_invoice a,
sa_order b,
(select parent_invoice_id, sum(total_invoiced_amount) write_off
from ac_invoice
where invoice_type_id = 3
group by parent_invoice_id) H,
(select order_id, order_name from sa_order where order_type_id in (3)) c
WHERE a.order_id = b.order_id and a.invoice_id = H.parent_invoice_id(+) and
b.parent_order_id = c.order_id(+) and
a.invoice_id NOT IN
((SELECT invoice_id
FROM ac_invoice
WHERE parent_invoice_id IS NOT NULL AND invoice_type_id != 3)
UNION
(SELECT parent_invoice_id
FROM ac_invoice
WHERE parent_invoice_id IS NOT NULL AND invoice_type_id != 3)) and
A.GL_COMPANY_ID = 1 and UPPER(A.customer_name) like upper('%KTLA%')
and
invoice_type_id in (1, 3, 4, 5, 2) and a.invoice_status_id = 1
ORDER BY A.INVOICE_IDPlease follow the advice in [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=501834&tstart=15]this thread for both your development and production environment.

Rob.
